Death is the end of human life. The impact of a person’s death can cause several problems both in terms of psychological and social. Psychological problems experienced by a person can vary, from self-blame to suicide. The social impact of death is the existence of death facilities. Architecture as a physical environment affects brain and behavior. This is discussed in the theory of Neuroarchitecture, the collaboration of neuroscience and architecture which bases the concept of architecture in neuroscience, so that spatial aspects or spaces can be seen through neural correlations and space perception. This scientific study is often related and discusses an environment that can modify the thoughts, emotions, and behavior of building users.

The design thesis proposal explores the design of death facilities that can achieve a sense of calm and peace through multisensory approach from theory of neuroarchitecture.

The site is located in Singapore where is part of the Greater Southern Waterfront, which extends from Pasir Panjang to Marina East. It will be transformed into a new major gateaway and location for urban living along Singapore’s southern coast. With Population and industrial growth in Singapore encourage the expansion of built environment through reclamation and urban sprawl due to land limitations. The decline of natural area due to rapid urban development reduces Singapore’s green area and biodiversity, increases the carbon footprint and emissions, and accelerates the impacts of climate change. The Design aims to address the challenges of limited land related to housing needs, resources scarcity, and climate change by becoming a part of innovative sustainable development, in accordance with Singapore’s development vision, City in Nature.

Bandar Kemayoran has a vision as a green and smart based city in the capital Therefore, the design of vertical village building projects must be able to prioritize environmentally-behavior the users. The design created to accommodate the residential needs of Rusunami & Rusunawa by the people of Jakarta. With Site Project 1,5 Ha, this building carrying out the Smart Environment concept, it can answer the problems of Kemayoran Jakarta’s environmental issues and cultural differences between the users

The existence of public transportation that is integrated with the site (bus stops, Transjakarta, BRT, Bandar Kemayoran Bus).

Weakness

The lack of urban green open space

Kampoong Hejo is a residence / home for the people of the Kemayoran area of various races, ethnicities, religions to be able to interact socially. The application of a Green Building that formed and integrated with a “smart” composition can increase the safety and comfort of the residents of Rusunami and Rusunawa

Threats

Jakarta Annual Flood Area

The existence of a greenbelt lane that is integrated with a pedestrian path, which also functions as a buffer area between the main road and the site.

Strengths

Kemayoran has Visi and mission as a “Green Smart City” needs to be supported by developers by presenting designs that are sensitive to the main problems in the Region. So in its approach, the process of getting this design idea starts from describing the background of the problems that are present at the design location and the behavior of the residents of the user needs.

The site has close access to two arterial roads, namely Jalan Sunter Jaya and Jalan Puma; so as to create good Theaccessibility.historical area (Kemayoran airport) can be an Canattraction.maximize the potential of sunlight and wind speed for Green Building planning

The construction of the toll road which is in the front area of the site provides quite high noise for residents

Opportunities

The strategic location is in the center of the city (urban) Jakarta which already has good zoning, the economic sector (trade), public spaces, and recreation areas

PRK Kemayoran which supports good public transportation access in the future

Concept

The groundwater level at the Kemayoran site is 1.5 meters below sea level.

The condition of the site tends to extend in a south-north Residentialdirection function which is quite close to dense and slum areas (east and south sides)

The main vehicle access is only on Jl. Puma

Placing a podium responds to active Frontage and Arcade. The function of the podium is in the form of shops and stalls for UMKM residents (Shopping Street)

Mass Subtraction, to provide urban permeability into buildings

The Massing shift becomes stepwise and zigzags following the direction of the wind and the direction of the sun to create shadows

The Rusunawa Massing is designed for 24-storey to respond the behavior of the residents and has terraces to create a communal area

shifting mass rusunami to maximize the number of units & expand the Outdoor Space

The zoning of the Rusunami and Rusunawa is based on the Transportation network and the view

The outdoor space is used as a green space to create a beautiful impression for residents and even the city

To facilitate efforts to increase Pangandaran’s tourism potential, the airport will be developed by 3500 m2 with a parking area of 3000 m2. The issue of airport development has become a worldwide concern. An airport that functions as a gate as well as a symbol of a city / country makes the government compete to build an airport with the latest technological designs without looking at the surrounding context and even eliminating the identity of the city. Therefore, the development of Nusawiru airport must reflect the identity of the city of Pangandaran and take advantage of the context around the site to optimize energy consumption.

The site is located on Jalan Cibadak with a land area of 8000 m2. Historically this area has been a settlement of Chinese people who settled in Bandung. By bringing the culture of selling, this area become an city economic center. But over time, the interest of this place waned due to losing competitiveness with other malls. Therefore, this mixed use design will revive the economy on Jl. This Cibadak with various shopping facilities, hotels, and apartments without leaving the characteristics of Chinese culture.

The residential design will be equipped with various facilities, such as health facilities, cafeterias, sports areas, urban farming areas, public open spaces, transportation access and parking areas.

The residential design is located in a densely populated urban area surrounded by an industrial area, Jakarta. Located on Jl. Daan Mogot with area 22,000 m2. Lack of public green open areas, so the design aims to meet user needs and the application of green building principles.

The design of the Bale Hejo area uses Land Use Appropriate criteria as a reference in designing space programs and design applications, such as material selection, vegetation, zoning determination and rainwater utilization. The strategic location in the middle of an industrial area provides facilities that are able to support the assessment of appropriate land use in aspects of ASD2 and ASD3.

Rainwater stored in groundwater reservoirs which will be reprocessed for watering purposes, such as irrigating urban farming and using flush water for residents’ toilets. In addition, the vegetation used is endemic, there are also shade trees that function to withstand strong winds, such as mango and Angsana trees. Existing vegetation is not removed in the design area and is used as a buffer zone.

The main needs of millennials who choose an downtown area, this house design responsive to problems in Urban area. With a land area of 72 square meters, this house has types 36 and 45 which are specially designed for millennials to live in the middle of the city.

Perum Perumnas is the only state-owned enterprise engaged in housing development for the lower middle class. Through the 2021 Idea Competition, Perum Perumnas held a a landed house design competition aimed at Millennials to fulfill their first residential needs.
