[Personal Statement] My interest in architecture originated when I was very young. Later on, due to my outstanding performance in the highly competitive National University Entrance Examinations, I was admitted to the major of Architecture in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which is one of the best universities in China. Five years of architecture studies have embedded with me a solid theoretical foundation, I got the highest grade for my design in the core studio for several times, such as nursing home design, library for the aged community and the renovation of Hanyang manufacturing factory. In addition, I participated in the HUST-EU Program 2018 Venice co-held by HUST and Politecnico di Torino. We stayed in Venice for the whole month to gather information, take pictures and visit every inch of Venice. Our research and my individual research-based conceptual design project, Urban Periphery, Rethinking of Piazzale Roma won the Excellent Award (Renewal and Remodel Category) of 2019 Asian Design Award. While doing my internship in AECOM, I participated in a factory renovation design project and two city fast lane landscape design projects, responsible for building drawing models, renderings and project presentation. Thanks to my internship experience, I have a better understanding of the needs and skills required in architectural practice. One of the project I participated in the Zhengzhou 2nd Sand Factory Renovation Project. During the design process, we held a cautious attitude, aiming to retain the abandoned factories that produced some small ecological environments as much as possible. Meanwhile I was exposed to the concept: circular economy, which would definitely be the core concept for the China
government and the architecture industry in 20 years. The project I completed independently during my internship was the design of the canopy of Shenzhen Haibin Avenue Underground Tunnel. Three schemes with different concepts and forms are required, and the form needs to imitate some forms of nature, in which process, parametric architectural design methods were used, there is no doubt that computer-aided design techniques are becoming more and more important. In addition, the increasing popularity of BIM helps to meet the needs of current clients who want to see the design effect throughout the whole design process. Above all, there exist a lot worth for me to further study.

The Architecture School of The University of Edinburgh enjoys a high reputation in the world, which has always been my dream school with abundant qualified teachers and the scientific research strength and resources. In my undergraduate university, there are architecture senior students having been admitted to your school. They introduced to me that. School of Architecture in The University of Edinburgh offers a wide range of study direction, with many studios available. Under the industry pioneer architects’ guidance and teaching, study in The University of Edinburgh could help students get a lot of knowledge on most advanced design techniques and architectural details. My internship experience makes me believe that such knowledge has a vital role in becoming a professional architect. In addition, Britain has a long history and a strong design atmosphere, more importantly, avant-garde design and research ideas can open my eyes, which helps me better participate in China’s construction industry after returning home.

Landscape involves the urban structure In modern times, "Park" in a broader sense, can be interpreted as a range of environmental conditions, "City = Park." ——Landscape urbanism

2019 Summer Academic Work Location: Wuhan, China
Hanyang Factory is located in the center of the old city of Wuhan, at the foot of Wuhan Guishan. It was originally part of the Hanyang Arsenal and 824 Factory in Zhang Zhidong during the Chinese Westernization Movement. To deal with this large industrial ruins by an ecological way. "The Garden" The structure of this factory building is different from other ones. It has the value of display, and is located in the center of the strip-shaped site. The long side is adjacent to another industrial park area. It is located at the intersection of traffic flow lines. Therefore, the original wall is removed, the structure is exposed, and it is made into an open-air green space.

Everyone who comes to this park can rest here. And this park is directly opposite the skate park in the middle of the square. Resting city residents can enjoy the ongoing skate and BMX cycling activities here. 5

Indoor Backetball Court
This one factory building will be transformed into an indoor basketball court, but the original structure contains two across and three rows of pillars, which don't have enough big space, so the strategy is to insert a set of wooden beams and truss of the new structure in between the previous pillars and truss to provide a largespan space, also do not need to remove the original structure, and retain the original space atmosphere. The new structure provides structural support and lighting, but users can see the original structure of the plant through gaps in the wooden beams.

Piazzale Roma is a square in Venice, at the entrance of the city, at the end of the Ponte della Libertà. Piazzale Roma and nearby Tronchetto island are the only places in Venice's insular urban core accessible to ground motor vehicles. The square acts as the main station for Venice. There are bus links to Venice Airport. The square is close to the main Santa Lucia railway station for Venice, linked by the Ponte della Costituzione The Venice People Mover, a public transit system, connects Tronchetto island. So, for the people who come to Venice, Piazzale Roma can be their first and last impression of the city. Such place should be a landmark in Venice, it needs to be reorganised to function more properly and build connections to the surrounding open space to meet the needs for different people. 9

Main streets in Sestieri San Marco have been transformed into shopping streets. First floor of the palazzos are occupied by luxury stores which are common in other modern big cities.

Located in jixian county, wuhan city, hubei province, ho chi kao village has its earliest history dating back hundreds of years. Most of the villagers share the same surname: gao. The village grew around the water source, the pond was the heart of the village, and the village ancestral hall, which represented the history and pride of the people, was built next to the pond, but was unfortunately destroyed during the cultural revolution. Since modern times, the village has sought to revive itself by building a new building next to the pond to show the spirit of the village. 21
