Breeding & Structural Soundness Guarantee All Leachman bulls sell with a structural soundness and breeding guarantee. The breeding guarantee is found in the Terms & Conditions. Since structural soundness is so critical to a bull’s useful life, we also guarantee all bulls for structural issues related to the soundness of their hooves and legs. If your bull has such a problem within six months of purchase, contact us for a credit in a future sale. Upon confirmation with a veterinary inspection of the problem, we will issue a credit for the purchase price less salvage value. Note that this does not cover the bulls for injury – see the Warranty below for such coverage.
Warranty-A-Bull In an effort to better serve our customers, we offer warranties on all of our bulls. These warranties cover all types of losses, rather than just the death loss covered by normal insurance. If you have a warranty claim, we will replace the animal with one of equal quality or refund your purchase price. The Warranty-A-Bull is available in two levels: Basic or Extended. All SUS purchases must buy the Basic Warranty.
2% Basic Warranty-A-Bull – required on “SUS” Delivered
Bulls: The “Basic Warranty-A-Bull” covers the bull from the time of purchase until 14 days after the date of delivery to the purchaser. The Warranty guarantees that the bull will be sound and capable of breeding at the end of this time period, thus covering the bull while in the care of Leachman Cattle of Colorado as well as during the transportation process. The purchaser must contact LCoC immediately if there is a question as to the bull’s soundness or survivability. This Basic Warranty costs 2% above the purchase price of the bull. Any bull(s) picked up at the Horton Research Facility in Wellington, CO will not be charged a Basic Warranty, unless specifically requested by the purchaser.
Optional 7% Extended Warranty-A-Bull: An “Extended Warranty-A-Bull” is also available for purchase on any bull. The Extended Warranty guarantees that the bull will remain sound, fertile, and alive during the six-month period immediately after delivery. The cost of this Extended Warranty is 7% above the purchase price of the bull. The 14-day Basic Warranty is not necessary if the Extended Warranty is purchased. (970) 568-3983

Claims: A “Leachman Warranty Claim Form” filled out by a licensed veterinarian must accompany all Warranty claims. The Claim must be filed within fourteen days of the end of the warranty period. The warranty does not cover losses due to neglect or gross mismanagement. Bulls that are missing or unaccounted for cannot be claimed. In the instance of a fertility re-testing, the bull must weigh the same or more than his posted, adjusted yearling weight. If the bull falls short of this weight, then he must be re-conditioned to meet the weight and then be re-tested. Leachman Cattle of Colorado has the right to request a second veterinary exam at Leachman expense or to have the bull returned to our Horton Research Facility in Wellington, CO at Leachman expense. In any case, the salvage value of the bull is the property of Leachman if any such value exists. Leachman Cattle of Colorado must be contacted before any animal is destroyed or salvaged except in extreme cases where humane animal treatment requires immediate action. Failure to follow these procedures will make the warranty null and void.
Terms on Retained Interest Bulls All bulls in the catalog sell with a retained ½ semen revenue interest, unless otherwise announced. Leachman Cattle of Colorado and the cooperator that raised the bull will own this interest – 25% each. We plan to sample a number of bulls in the sale and we will indicate such bulls in the catalog, or from the block. In order to do so, we will collect adequate semen to allow our use of the bull via AI, while you will have full possession of the bull. As always, we will attempt to accommodate the buyer regarding the delivery dates on these bulls. Buyers needing immediate possession on such bulls should visit with us prior to the sale to find out if we have already acquired adequate semen to release the bull immediately. As sold in the sale, Leachman and the buyer each have the right to sell semen independently on any bull in the sale. The buyer may elect to purchase exclusive semen marketing rights on ½ interest bulls buy paying 200% of the final bid price on the bull at the time of the sale. In the event that the buyer elects to purchase exclusive semen marketing rights, Leachman will still retain a within-herd interest right to use the bull within its own herd and within cooperator herds. This right will entitle Leachman to collect no more than the lesser of 1/3 of the semen the bull produces or 500 units per year. Page 1

The Stabilizers are expressed on an Angus scale. 20. Yearling EPD/ABC expressed on a breed scale. The Stabilizers are expressed on an Angus scale. 21. Milk EPD/ABC expressed on a breed scale. The Stabilizers are expressed on an Angus scale. This is the best predictor of a bull’s daughter’s ability to milk. It measures the difference in weaning weight that will be produced between one bull’s daughters and another bull’s daughters due solely to milk. 22. IMF is the ultrasound based EPD/ABC for marbling expressed on a breed scale. The Stabilizers are expressed on an Angus scale. 23. REA is the ultrasound based EPD/ABC for ribeye area expressed on a breed scale. The Stabilizers are expressed on an Angus scale. 24. MWT is the predicted mature weight of daughters that you will get if you use the bull on a 1250 pound cow. If your cows weigh 1350, add 100 to this predicted weight. If your cows weigh only 1150, subtract 100 from this predicted weight. This EPD is the best indicator of daughter size -- far better than frame score or yearling height.
30. $Feeder: This number is expressed in terms of the bull’s added value to the sale price of your feeder calves. It is expressed in dollars per head. Thus when comparing a +100 bull vs. a +50 bull, we expect the first bull to sire calves worth $50 per head more at weaning (regardless of their weight). 31. $Profit™ EPD: One, simple, proven number that gives each trait a weight according to its impact on profit. 32. FT: Indicates the bull was individually measured for feed intake. Bulls without this notation, were not individually measured. Unmeasured bulls have EPD’s based on their parental average. Key to bull comments: • Any reference to % rank is the percentile rank within that bull’s breed. Top 1% means the animal ranks better than 99% of the population on that trait. • Reference to the number rank (i.e. #2 $Profit) is the bulls rank within his breed within the sale bulls for that trait. So, #4 F:G ST means the 4th best Feed:Gain Stabilizer bull in the sale. • All bulls are evaluated for foot soundness. Bulls below a 3 score are deemed to have less than desirable hooves. 2.5 Feet = flatter heal and/or slightly longer toe. 2.0 Feet = flatter heal and much longer toe. 1.5 Feet = evidence of toes curling in on front or hind feet. All such bulls’ feet have been trimmed and sell with our complete guarantee. • Other abbreviations used in the comments include:
25. F:G is the pedigree estimated feed to gain EPD that predicts the feedlot efficiency of the bulls offspring. A negative number means that the bull’s progeny will feed more efficiently. Example: -0.50 means that the bulls progeny will require ½ pound less feed per pound of gain.
• Dam 5@101 NR – indicates that the bull’s dam has five calves with an average weaning ratio of 101
26. Intake: is an estimate of the amount of feed that the bull’s progeny will consume over a 112 day feeding period. It is expressed in pounds. Animals with higher intake will consume more throughout their life. Animals with lower intake will consume less.
• YR = yearling ratio. How the calf ranked within herd on adjusted yearling weight.
27. FS is an EPD, expressed as frame score, predicting the yearling frame score of a sire’s progeny, compared to that of other sires. 28. SC is an EPD, expressed in centimeters, predicting the yearling scrotal circumference of a sire’s progeny, compared to that of other sires. 29. $Ranch EPD: This Leachman profit index that predicts weaning profitability based on calving ease, weaning weight, maternal milk, cow cost, and FERTILITY. Based on producing 100 calves. This EPD assumes a slide on calf prices of $10 / cwt.
• WR & NR = weaning or nursing ratio. How the calf ranked within herd on their adjusted weaning weight.
• AWW = adjusted 205 day weaning weight. AYW = adjusted 365 day yearling weight. • REA & IMF = either adjusted data or ratios for ultrasound ribeye area and inter-muscular fat (marbling). • ADG = average daily gain on test. WDA = weight per day of age at a year. • Stay = the Red Angus EPD for Stayability. This predicts the likelihood that a bull’s daughters stay in the herd. +14 means that 14% more of this bull’s daughters will be in the herd at age 6.

Bidders who are successful in making purchases via satellite or internet will be contacted by the ranch after the sale to settle payment and make shipping arrangements.
$PROFIT Why $Profit helps:
Today, ranchers have too much data to study. With over 20 EPD traits and so many measurements, buying the best bull has become really confusing. Every bull is good on some traits and weak on others. The challenge is figuring out how each of those traits is going to impact your bottom line. We wish we knew which bull would make the most money from birth to slaughter, but most of the time, we end up guessing. Back in 2005, we decided that we didn’t want to guess any more. Dallas Horton asked Lee Leachman to come up with one number that sorted the bulls on their bottom line impact – so we did. Since then, we have provided $Profit on all bulls we sell. Furthermore, we are basing almost all of our own selection decisions on $Profit. Literally, we are putting our money where our mouth is. Let me tell you a story about two bulls that we bought a few years ago from the same sale. Both bulls had complete performance data, ratios, ultrasound, and even feed efficiency data. They were both the same breed. After the sale, we added their herd’s data into our database to calculate EPD’s and $Profit. One bull came out at $8,374 and the other came out at $14,258. That is a huge difference – one bull was a great buy and the other was an expensive mistake.
How $Profit works:
$Profit assumes that the average commercial bull will have 100 progeny over its lifetime. The model assumes that you keep 30% of your heifers as replacements and that you retain ownership on the remainder of the calves through finishing and sale on a grid. We realize that many don’t retain ownership, but doesn’t it make the most sense to select from birth all the way to slaughter? Feedlots have already proven their willingness to pay premiums for superior Leachman sired calves. Our simulation model then factors in all of the effects on both income and expense to come up with a net profit figure for each bull. $Profit allows you to compare any two bulls and calculate the difference in profit that they are expected to generate in your herd. Let’s compare a $10,000 $Profit bull to $6,000 $Profit bull (the average 2008 born Angus bull). The predicted difference between the bulls is $4,000 or about $40 per calf. $Profit works for us and it will work for you too.
On the Ranch, In the Feedlot, & On the Rail, ™ $Profit simply works!
TM
What traits are included in $Profit:
$Profit includes nearly every trait that impacts profitability. The effect of most traits on profit is fairly simple to understand. Here is the list of what is included and its effect: Revenue Traits ▪▪ Calving ease = more calves ▪▪ Weaning & yearling EPD = more weight ▪▪ Fertility (days to conception) = more weight and more calves ▪▪ Carcass weight = worth more up to 1050 lbs. ▪▪ Marbling = valued based on grid premiums ▪▪ Ribeye area = value as impacts yield grade ▪▪ % Retail Product = more yield is more meat Cost Traits ▪▪ Cow mature size = bigger eats more ▪▪ Cow intake = more intake costs more ▪▪ Feedlot feed efficiency = cost of gain Some traits are not so easily characterized for $Profit. Milk, for example, is a good thing until you get too much. When over +25, milk EPD has a more negative effect on fertility than it has a positive effect on weaning weight. There are a few traits not yet included in $Profit: longevity, structure, and disposition. These traits are important but difficult to express in dollars.
Feed Efficiency Explained: Feed:Gain: Difference in the amount of feed a bull's progeny will consume to produce one pound of gain.
Example: A -0.50 F:G EPD means this animal's progeny will consume 1/2 pound less feed per pound of gain than would progeny of a 0.00 F:G EPD sire.
Feed Intake: Difference in feed con-
sumption of each of a bull's progeny in a 112 day feeding period. Example: A steer whose sire has a -100 Intake EPD will eat 100 pounds less feed in 112 days than one whose sire had a zero Intake EPD.

1: Verified Beef’s Reputation Feeder Cattle® (RFC) program predicts feedlot performance based on EPD data supplied by breed associations. 2: RFC’s star rankings predict sale group performance and carcass traits based solely on inherent genetic merit and do not account for factors such as weigh conditions, bloom, or other managerial or environmental effects. 3: RFC predicted profitability (Relative Value/cwt) is in comparison to cattle with industry average genetics, and is representative of total dollars of difference from purchase to slaughter. Actual realization of these values is dependent on market conditions, management strategies, and environmental effects, including plane of nutrition, days on feed, weather, etc. Verified Beef and Superior Livestock Auction do not guarantee or warranty the actual performance of the cattle. Together Everyone Achieves More.
“Using Leachman Red Angus genetics the past 25 years shaped our lives” • In the mid-1970s we started to study A.I. catalogs and the Red Angus breed. We liked the Red Angus breed’s leadership in mandatory performance registry.
• That led us to Leachman Cattle, where we started. We bought the best 1989 heifers we could afford, including their top purebred 1B females. We “rolled” whole pens of five heifers by the same sire at premium prices. Those gals stuck around a long time.
I’m told that my cows have THE best udders in the Red Angus breed. I’m modestly happy with that. They do set an awfully nice dinner table!
~ Karen & LJ Turner Turner Red Angus Gillette, WY
“Our herd reflects our religiously strict belief and adherence to the fundamentals that allowed Red Angus to become a major breed.” • Red Angus’ maternal, problem free, convenience traits of fertility, stayability, and productivity under commercial conditions in central WY… were never compromised.
• We do not keep an open cow. We do not like tall, narrow cattle. We don’t criticize a moderate cow’s weight, as long as it is expressed in capacity and muscle, not frame or bone.
• We have always been believers in new performance selection tools… adjusted weight and ratios, followed by EBVs, then EPDs… and now $Profit indexes. The latter helps us balance all the traits and keep the cattle ranch-user friendly.
Convenience traits and problem-free production adds to the longevity of the cow… and the owner.
“I’ve always topped the market with Leachman genetics. When I strayed, we went backwards.
A Big Gene bull calf destined for the breeding pasture.
A daughter of Leachman King Rob.
Ben Arnold Goals at age 86: •
Make every calf crop better than the last.
•
Lean on advice from the Leachman’s to stay on track.
•
Avoid making “genetic” mistakes that won’t last in the cowherd.
•
Keep breeding red cattle that are as good as or better than blacks.
•
Use the best Leachman bulls to make my cows more efficient and keep my calves at the top of the market.
•
Leave something good and lasting for my grandson.
Through thick and thin, my cows always bring home the ‘bacon’ – they top the market. The pay weight on my steers was 704 pounds right off the cow. In December, my bred heifers were the high selling lot on the Northern Video bred heifer sale at $2,100 apiece. They outsold the blacks. Forty years ago, I was attracted to Red Angus for their disposition and durability. Leachman was leading on performance. I sampled all their great sires, like King Rob and Heavenly. I also used some red Stabilizers. This year, I’ll breed my heifers to high $Profit Red Angus and my cows to high $Profit Stabilizers."
~ Ben Arnold, age 86 Arnold Ranch, Molt, MT

“I keep my cattle on good grass and water all the time. I check them every day.”
We were raised with Red Angus cattle. Lee L. Leachman
Our family involvement in Red Angus started forty-one years ago at Leachman Cattle Company in Billings. We were blessed to have owned and/or bred many of the breeds highest impact sires and countless national champions.

Red Angus
• Growth from Birth to Finish
• Conversion & Carcass in the Feedyard • Delivering Cowherd Building Traits • Improved Heat Tolerance & Disposition • Greater Consistency in Crossbreeding • Industry's Most Reliable EPDs presented in Multi-Breed Language
RedAngus.org
Backed by the Industry's Best Value in Added Value Programs
“If you want to ‘cash flow’ an outfit just follow us around.” • There are only two hands and they both wear the pants on this outfit… me and my wife Kay.
• Our guideline is if you can make money on the “hamburger market”, you won’t go broke.
• Two mandatory rules are to raise cattle that fit the environment and have reasonable birth weights… that are easy calving.
• The proof in today’s world is when you can buy neighboring land and cowherds like we do from just ranching.
1870’s Overland Trail Stage Depot for freighters from MO to OR. Includes original boarding house, livery stables and blacksmith shop on Kemp Ranch.
“We terminal mate our crossbred cows with Leachman Charolais bulls” • Maximizes heterosis and all calves go to market.
• I like the disposition of Leachman’s bulls… and like going to their sales!
• Leachman runs a good outfit. Lee and his crew always have time for you. They get back to you and are willing to help us understand the figures and select bulls.
• Love what you do, do what you love… while you can. Too early, you get old… and you get smart almost too late!
~ Kay & John Kemp Laramie, WY

ALL ANIMALS OFFERED ARE SUBJECT TO PRIOR SALE AND PRICE CHANGES. EXCEPT FOR THOSE STATED IN THE BELOW TERMS AND CONDITIONS, THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AS TO MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WITH RESPECT TO THE CATTLE BEING SOLD IN THIS OFFERING. THE WARRANTIES AND GUARANTEES SET FORTH IN THESE “TERMS AND CONDITIONS” ARE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AND THE REMEDIES PROVIDED THEREIN SHALL BE THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE BUYER, OR ANY PARTY CLAIMING THROUGH BUYER, FOR ANY BREACH OF WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE THEREIN PROVIDED, AND ALL OTHER OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES.
SALE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
TERMS: Terms of sale are cash unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made with the Seller prior to the sale. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the Purchaser as soon as sold. It shall be the obligation of the Seller to see that animals are fed and cared for, free of charge to Purchaser, until loaded for shipment. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: A transferred certificate of registry will be furnished to the Buyer for each animal unless said animal is unregistered as denoted in the catalog. HEALTH: All animals are eligible for interstate shipment; except as otherwise announced. Interstate health papers will be furnished for each animal requiring T.B., Bang’s, and other health testing in accordance with State and Federal Regulations. ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION SERVICE CERTIFICATES A.I. Service Certificates shall be furnished by the Seller, at no cost to the Buyer, for all females sold in the sale that are bred artificially to bulls not owned by the Seller. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Changes of information, of any kind, in this catalog will be announced from the auction block. Such announcements shall take precedence. BREEDING GUARANTEE 1. All animals are guaranteed breeders, with the exception of: a) calves under twelve months of age; b) animals shown by Purchaser after sale (in cases of animals shown after purchase, the breeding guarantee, if any, shall be such as agreed upon between Seller and Buyer; or c) gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the Purchaser. 2. Bulls are guaranteed breeders if not allowed to run with the herd until at least 14 months of age. Any bull which either: 1) settles 1/3 or more of the healthy cows he serves; 2) is the sire of 20 or more animals; or 3) settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during any 6 month period of trial (provided for in paragraph 2 of the section of these sale terms and conditions entitled “Options and Privileges of Return or Adjustment”) shall be considered a breeder. Any guarantees with respect to the ability to freeze semen shall be by separate agreement between Buyer and Seller. “Safe in Calf” Females have been examined by a competent veterinarian and are so guaranteed. Pasture-bred Females have been exposed, but are not guaranteed to be in calf. Serviced females are believed to be in calf but are not so guaranteed. Open females have not been served and are so guaranteed. IDENTIFICATION: Seller offers each animal with a readable tattoo corresponding to its catalog designation and registration when applicable. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT 1. All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing either within six months of the sale date or no later than six months after the animal reaches 18 months of age, with the exception of claims involving defects or parentage. 2. In the event an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the animal may be returned to the farm of the Seller, if in good condition and in compliance with the health requirements of the Seller’s state. The Seller shall be entitled to six months trial following the return of the animal in which to prove that the animal is a breeder. If at the end of six months the Seller is unable to prove the animal is a breeder, the Seller shall, at the option of the Buyer, replace the animal with another of equal value or grant the Buyer a credit for use on any products marketed by the Seller. Such credit of the full purchase price shall, in any case, be deemed full satisfaction and settlement. Any expense incurred for transporting an animal claimed to be a non-breeder shall be the responsibility of the Purchaser, except that the Seller shall be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the Purchaser’s farm and the location where the sale took place. If the Seller proves the animal to be a breeder, it shall be the obligation of the Purchaser to take delivery of the animal and pay all expenses incurred for transportation.
Page 32
3. If a female sold as “safe in calf” proves not to be in calf, the Purchaser may receive service from the bull previously used, if available, or if the bull is not available, the Seller shall be obligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of the Seller. Any adjustment provided for herein shall absolve the Seller from further liability, except in case such female proves to be a non-breeder. If a female represented as “safe in calf” at time of sale to a certain bull proves to have been bred to a different bull, the Seller shall be obligated to make a satisfactory adjustment on the purchase price upon return of the animal to the farm of the Seller (adjustments shall not be considered to be a breeding fee or an allocation of the purchase price to any unborn calf). Any expenses incurred for transportation shall be the responsibility of the Purchaser, except that the Seller shall be responsible for transportation costs in excess of the distance between the Purchaser’s farm and the location where the sale took place. 4. If a female sold as “served” proves not to be in calf, or if a female sold as “pasture-bred” proves not to be in calf, the Seller only guarantees such female to be a breeder. 5. If a female sold as “open” proves to be with calf, the Purchaser may return the animal to the farm of the Seller prior to calving for a credit of the full purchase price or for another animal of equal value, whichever is acceptable to the Purchaser. It shall be the obligation of the Seller to bear any expense incurred for transportation. GENETIC DEFECT AND PARENTAGE GUARANTEE 1. All animals are guaranteed not to produce a calf with the following defects: Dwarfism, Double-muscling, Parrot Mouth, Osteopetrosis (marble bone disease), and Syndactylism (mule foot), and Arthrogryposis Multiplex (curly calf). The parentage of all animals bred by the Seller is guaranteed to the extent that the animal is by the Sire and out of the Dam indicated on its registration paper. These guarantees are effective for a period of two years from date of sale only under the following conditions. a) The Buyer shall notify the Seller in writing immediately upon the birth of a calf suspected of being defective or immediately after determination is made that such calf is defective, or if parentage is suspected or found to be in error. b) The Seller, at his expense shall be permitted and provided, with reasonable opportunity, to obtain blood samples of an alleged defective calf and its sire and dam for the purpose of blood type/DNA analysis to establish parenthood. In the case of suspect parentage, the Buyer at his expense, shall be permitted and provided, with reasonable opportunity, to obtain blood samples of the animal in question and its sire and dam for the purpose of blood type/DNA analysis to establish parenthood. If sire or dam, as indicated on the animal’s registration paper, is proven to be in error by such analysis, the Seller shall reimburse Buyer for cost of such analysis. c) The animals will be returned by the Buyer to the Seller at the Buyer’s expense; provided the animal meets the health requirements for the Seller’s state. d) The replacement of an animal with another of equal value or the refund of the purchase price, in connection with a defect producing animal or an animal whose parentage is in error, shall be deemed full satisfaction and settlement. 2. In the event there is a dispute as to whether or not a calf is defective, or parentage is in error, “determination” referred to in Paragraph 1a above shall be made by a person or persons acceptable to both the Buyer and Seller. In the event that Buyer and Seller cannot agree on the selection of such person or persons, then each of them shall appoint a representative to make the determination. In the event that such representatives fail to agree, a third person selected by the representatives of the Buyer and Seller shall make the determination. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between the Buyer and Seller of each animal and shall be equally binding upon both. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction. Neither the sale manager, nor any other person connected with the management of the sale, assumes any liability, legal or otherwise.
