MEMBERSHIP...Working together to move forward METHODS OF PAYMENT
AGE REGULATIONS
Easy Pay is a monthly payment plan which automatically drafts your checking, savings, debit or credit card account for your membership dues. Easy Pay memberships will automatically be renewed until cancelled in writing. Memberships can also be paid annually using cash, credit/debit card or check.
Children must be at least 13 years of age to utilize the Fitness Center. Children 13-16 years must go through mandatory two hour teen orientation prior to using any equipment without adult supervision. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult over 18 when using the Indoor Track.
CANCELLATION POLICY Membership: Memberships must be cancelled in writing 30 days prior to the 1st of the month in which the cancellation is to take effect. Programs: If the minimum number of participants are not enrolled, the Y has the right to combine it with another class or cancel the class.
REFUND POLICY If the Y cancels or reschedules a program, a refund or credit will be granted. If a medically verified illness or injury prohibits attendance and is reported to the Y, a credit will be issued for future programs. NO MONEY will be refunded. Credits must be approved by the Program Director. An administrative fee is added into the price of each class and will not be included in issuing credits.

REGISTRATION Program cards will be handed out to current participants during the second to last week of the session. Registration for members and current participants will then be on the last week of class. See Page 3 for registration dates. Pre-registration is required for ALL, space is NOT guaranteed to current participants. Fees are due at time of registration, spaces cannot be held without payment. Registration can be taken by phone using credit/debit cards. Online registration is available to Members only.
MEMBERSHIP COUNTS For the safety of all members and guests, everyone is required to check in at the front desk. All members are issued member ID cards. We ask that you show your card every time you come. Replacement cards: $2.
BABYSITTING We offer free babysitting service while adult members use the facility. This service is also available to non-members and guests at the rate of $2/hour for the first child and $1/ hour for each additional child. See the babysitting staff for more details and a handbook.
AWAY PROGRAM The “Always Welcome at YMCA’s” AWAY logo on your membership ID entitles you to visit participating YMCAs in the cities where you are traveling. You may find any YMCA in the US by calling (866) USA-YMCA or by going online and visiting www.ymca.net.

LOST & FOUND Any recovered items will be placed in our lost and found and kept on hand for no more than two weeks. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charitable organization. See the Member Service Center to claim your lost items.
SECURITY The Niles-Buchanan Y is open to all members, therefore each person must be responsible for his or her own belongings. The Y is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items. Leave valuables at home. If you do bring valuables we advise that you use a lock that is large enough so that the locker cannot be opened, or keep them locked in your car out of sight.

PARENT TODDLER (18 mo -3 years)
Swingers (6 years & up) In this children will be working on round offs, handstands to bridge, back roll step-outs, and back kickovers without spot, and the basics for back handsprings. All classes do beam, vault, and bars. Days/Times: Tuesday 7:00-8:00pm
Kippers (6 years & up) This advanced class is designed for children ready to begin tumbling skills, front and back walkovers, along with dance. There will be specific skills required on all equipment. At this level the skills will be more difficult; they will require proper technique and form while paying close attention to the instructor. Days/Times: Thursday 6:30-7:30pm
This class is designed to give parents the opportunity to be involved in their child’s motor development. They will be using all the equipment as the parent learns to work with their child on different skills. The instructor will be involved with spotting and teaching each skill. At times, the instructor will ask to go one on one with the child in a specific skill. Day/Time: Monday 5:15-5:45pm
Flyers (6 years & up)
PRESCHOOL Gym Dandy (3 - 4 years)
This class is designed for those children who are interested in learning basic skills for tumbling only. They must first learn to do a handstand, bridge and kickover off of mats before learning to do back handsprings. Once they are able to do roundoffs and back handsprings they can move on to more difficult skills. Days/Times: Monday (Beginners) 6:00-7:00pm Monday (Advance) 7:00-8:00pm
This class is designed for the child ready to learn basic moves that will teach them to do the complete gymnastic skill. They will work all the equipment which will help in balance, flexibility, and basic motor skills, such as donkey kick, which will eventually become a handstand. As the child learns more skills and is ready they will be given more difficult moves to master. Days/Times: Tuesday 4:45-5:15pm Thursday 5:15-5:45pm
Kinder Gym (4 - 5 years) This class is designed to prepare a child for the progressive program. They will work on learning skills for cartwheels, many different rolls, handstands and much more. They will work on all the equipment and at times will try without a spotter. We encourage all of the children that are ready to do skills with little spotting. This will prepare them in the future for other skills and strengthens their confidence. Days/Times: Tuesday 5:15-6:00pm Thursday 5:45-6:30pm
PROGRESSIVE For all progressive gymnastics classes, children will need to achieve 75% competency before they can move to the next class, upon the instructor’s discretion.
Rollers (6 years & up) This program begins with forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands and back kickovers off the mats. They will also work the beam, vault and bars. Days/Times: Tuesday 6:00-7:00pm
This class is designed for the serious gymnast that might enjoy competition level skills. They will be working on continuous tumbling runs, putting together routines using dance and gymnastics. They will still be working on bars, beam and vault, along with floor. Days/Times: Thursday 6:30-7:30pm
TUMBLING (10 years & up)
YOUTH CHEERLEADING Cheerleaders learn basic skills, cheers, and chants. Routines are also taught. Days/Times: Wednesday (5 - 6 years) 5:00-6:00pm Wednesday (7+ years) 6:00-7:00pm

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT...Be a part of something bigger! Mariners Swim Team
Discover the friendship, excitement, and self confidence that come with competitive swimming, join the Niles-Buchanan YMCA Mariners Swim Team. We are a team that is dedicated to the development of our swimmers. We offer a total program for children 6-18 years of age. Whether the child is a young developing swimmer still learning the strokes or a senior swimmer with national qualifying times, the YMCA swim team can meet your needs. All swimmers are required to be YMCA members 1 month prior to the start the season, and be able to swim 1 length of the YMCA pool doing the front crawl with rotary breathing and 1 length doing the back crawl to join the swim team. *All swimmers must have a Youth/Teen Membership. Practice times are set by coaches.
Red Group Open to ages 4 and older. Designed to teach the fundamentals of four competitive strokes, technique and terminology while developing a love for swimming. To qualify for this group, they must be able to demonstrate front and back floats as well as be able to swim 25 yards on their stomach and back. Swimmers in this group are not required to compete. To move from this group, the swimmer must be able to consistently demonstrate good listening skills as well as solid technique in freestyle and backstroke with an understanding of breaststroke and butterfly
Green Group The green group demonstrates legal strokes, starts and turns. They are capable of swimming distance freestyle events and 100 yards of each stroke legally. They are introduced to both long and short term goal setting, cross training (age appropriate), and are able to use the pace clock to achieve practice goals. The blue group uses a full range of practice equipment. Training focuses on state and zone competition for age group swimmers with the goal of competing on a national level. This group exhibits a high level of year round commitment to competitive swimming and the team. Practice: Recommend 5-6x/week with Saturdays and doubles additional Schedule: 9:00-10:30 am swim M-F, 8:00 am dryland Nutrition: W 10:15-10:30 am Meets: Mandatory

HORSEBACK RIDING CLASSES
Young age group swimmers working on endurance, conditioning and refining freestyle and backstroke. Spend time developing legal competitive butterfly and breaststroke techniques. Introduce them to interval training using pace clocks and training equipment. Continue to work more on starts and turns as we increase yardage minimally. Practice: recommend 4-5x/week Schedule: 9:15-10:00 am. See schedule for days Nutrition: W 9:00-9:15 am Meets: Home meets mandatory, away meets optional but encouraged
Blue Group Swimmers in this group have a solid knowledge and execution of each competitive stroke with legal turns in the individual medley and are capable of swimming 200 yards freestyle. This group is learning to track their yardage and are comfortable using the pace clock in interval training. The blue group is motivated to be competitive at practice as well as meets. This is a fast paced training group which requires weekly attendance throughout season for maximum development and improvement. Practice: Recommend 5-6x/week (can come Saturdays only if attendance 100% during week) Schedule: 9:00-10:30 am M-F Nutrition: W 10:15-10:30 am Meets: mandatory
The Niles-Buchanan YMCA has teamed up with Robert Egan Stables to offer horseback riding classes for children and adults. Stables consist of 24 acres of indoor and outdoor arenas and outside courses and trails. Certified instructors (NARHA) stressing suitability of horse to rider, emphasizing safety in all activites. All classes will meet for seven weeks and will run according to the YMCA’s schedules. Limit 4 students per class. Egan Stables 2000 Bakertown Rd. Birthday Parties Not sure where to have your child’s next birthday? The Y is available for parties. Birthday events can be reserved on Saturdays from 2-4 pm and are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contact Margaret Haines at 269-683-1552 for more information.
SWIM, SPORTS & PLAY Open Swim Open to all families, adults, teens and children. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult in the water. All children 7 or older unaccompanied by an adult must stand 42” tall and must be able to swim alone without a flotation device.
Family Swim Open to all families and adults. Anyone under the age of 18 must have an adult accompany them in the water.
Open Gym Recreational gym is available for members/guests at this time. See gym schedule for age appropriate times.
Adult Pick-Up Basketball MEMBERS ONLY This is a time set aside for adult members only; 18 or older.
Pickleball Pickleball is a fun game combining table tennis, and tennis and is played in the gymnasium with a low floor net. Using a perforated plastic ball and wood paddles, you will find this game is easy for beginners to learn and fun for all! See our Gym Schedule for times and age regulations.

Training Consultation A 15 minute session with a trainer for advice on getting started, changing, or challenging your workout as well as getting advice on classes that fit your needs or interests. $15/session.
Teen-Fitness Orientation
Cardio Room (Required for13-16 years) - Teens will be introduced to cardio and strength equipment for safe and effective workouts. They will set up with a safe starting weight on strength machines and a target heart rate for aerobic conditioning. Free-Weight Room (Required for 13-16 years) - Teens must complete an orientation with Coach Grayson and may only use free weights after orientation AND under supervision of Coach Grayson or a parent.
Adult Fitness Orientation A free one hour orientation for fitness center is available to all new members!
$15.00 per appointment - can be scheduled every 6-8 weeks. This service is provided free with Personal Training.
Track The track is 1/10 mile. You must be 13 years or older to be on the track without an adult. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult within arms length at ALL times.
Incentive Programs Incentive programs will be offered throughout the year as a fun way to achieve your personal fitness goals. Prizes will be awarded to those meeting their goals! Keep an eye out for upcoming events.

Competitive - This league is only for high level experienced teams. For example if you have played in our competitive league and were a higher ranked team, then this is the league for you. Mid Level Recreation - For teams who are more experienced than recreation but not quite ready for competitive leagues. For example if you played in our competitive league and were a lower ranked team then you should be in this league. The Niles-Buchanan YMCA has partnered up with MI Healthier Tomorrow and Be Healthy Berrien to offer an opportunity for guidance to a better health. The Y is offering a 12 session program called Get Healthy - Get Fit. The program offers weekly group meetings with a dietician and fitness guidance with a Personal Trainer. It is a 12-week program in which participants strive to achieve a higher level of wellness. There has to be a minimum of 5 participants, with a max of 10 participants. All team member fees and completed team roster must be turned into the Niles-Buchanan YMCA. Minimum of 4 teams to run each league. League will run for 6 matches plus a tournament to finish the season. Officials will be provided for each match. Total matches will determine league standings. In case of a tie, head-to-head matches won then total points will decide team placing.
Nutrition Counseling The Niles-Buchanan YMCA will be offering nutrition counseling for adults and children. Marcy Herbert is a registered dietician, who is also certified in pediatric weight management and dietary counseling. Marcy currently volunteers as a nutrition guide for the Niles-Buchanan Mariners Swim Team. She has been practicing for 15 years in areas of weight management, diabetes, heart disease, food allergies, and other chronic conditions. We are excited to offer this service for a very reasonable fee. Interested individuals or families should contact Member Services at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA for information, to obtain the profile questionnaire, or to schedule an appointment. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT...Try new things ARTS & HUMANITIES “Trash to Treasure” Going Green has never been so creative! Children will draw, paint, glue, cut and make crafts and art masterpieces using recycled materials. Weekly themes will be explored using a variety of materials and techniques and recycled items. You may be asked to bring a recycled item to class such as a coffee can, Mason Jar or toilet paper rolls. The instructor will notify you when the need arises. “Round of Applause” Like to express yourself? Have a great imagination? Like to pretend to be something you are not? “Round of Applause” is the right place for you! Learning Tree Pre-School A state licensed pre-school for 3-5 year olds.

To help develop and maintain a healthy body through progressive swim & gym programs. 4. To provide initial school experiences as well as an academic foundation to build further skills.
