Molding Players into a Team
Developing Integrity and Character
E
ach year as a new season begins, new players join our program. A mark of a dedicated coach is to instill in each player his or her capabilities and strengths and the need to be a team player. When that happens and all players become a team, as coaches, we know we’ve done our job! It is a great honor to have been chosen as your president of the MAC. To receive such an acclamation of faith from my peers is truly a challenge for me to do my best in the job that you’ve entrusted to me. My thanks and appreciation to all of you, and I hope our work together will result in a very productive and successful year. Good luck to all of you and your teams!
P
lease know that I have a great appreciation and respect for the members of the Mississippi Association of Coaches and the role our coaches play in the lives of young people. The strength of our organization is evident by its growing membership. I encourage each member to review the MAC Code of Ethics and reflect on its principles. Wins and losses are important; however, at the end of the day, the opportunity coaches have to develop integrity and character is more important. The MAC is only as strong as its membership. I challenge each member to strive to make our association stronger by getting involved. Finally, I would like to thank each of you for your membership, continued support of the MAC and, most importantly, what you do for the student athletes of Mississippi. Have a great year!

Glenn Davis
Football
Glenn Davis (Copiah-Lincoln C.C.) Buddy Stephens (East Mississippi C.C.)
For the fifth consecutive year, the MAC has selected Co-Coaches of the Year for community college football. Coach Glenn Davis led the Copiah-Lincoln Wolfpack in 2014 to a record of 8–3 and the MACJC South Division crown. A graduate of Delta State, he is in his 12th season as a head coach following a career that includes stops at South Natchez High, Mississippi State, North Alabama and Holmes C.C. His teams have posted an overall record of 60–42 and 6 consecutive winning seasons, a feat that has not happened at the school since the 1980s. In addition, Coach Davis led the Wolfpack to the 2012 MACJC State Championship, plus national rankings with over a dozen players signed to Division 1 football programs. This year’s MAC honor is Coach Davis’ first MAC Coach of the Year recognition. Coach Stephens, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, and a graduate of Pearl River C.C. and Delta State, has coached for 25 years. The former high school coach in Alabama and Louisiana has coached football in the JUCO ranks for 18 seasons and previously led the Pearl River C.C. Wildcats to 4 consecutive MACJC state titles and the 2004 NJCAA national football championship. He arrived at East Mississippi C.C. in 2007 and has paced the Lions to a record of 68–10 and the school’s third NJCAA national football championship in 4 years. In 2014, his Lions gridiron team finished with its second consecutive perfect season at 12–0 and its second straight MACJC state title and NJCAA national championship. Coach Stephens’ team enters the 2015 season with a winning streak of 24 consecutive games and is poised to break the all-time NJCAA record of 26 straight football wins held by Blinn College in Texas. This year’s MAC award is Coach Stephens’ second in a row, and he was also named the first two-time recipient of the American Community College Football Coaches Association National Coach of the Year and the NJCAA National Football Coach of the Year.
