hard to believe 2024 is almost gone and it’s time to get ready for another great MTC Annual Turfgrass Conference and Trade Show on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Once again, we will be at the spacious facilities at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City.
We may be at the same location but the program that the Education Committee has planned is both exciting and informational. You will see numerous changes such as changes in Trade Show hours and a Keynote Speaker while still providing you the Pesticide and Fertilizer Application License Recert Credits for MD and all surrounding States, plus Golf Course Superintendents Education Points, MD Tree Specialist credits and CCLC credits. If you need other education credits which you think our program may qualify, please contact Vernon at the MTC as soon as possible and we will request approval.
Speakers for the conference which have been confirmed are Golf Track: Mike Fidanza (2 talks- Penn State), Brandon Horvath (Univ. of Tenn), Brian Gietka (USGA), as well as presentations from Geoff Rinehart and Fereshteh Shahoveisi; Sports Track: Brandon Horvath (Univ. of Tenn), Mike Fidanza (Penn State) plus information from Chuck Schuster, Geoff Rinehart, and a panel discussion on Fraze Mowing with Kevin Mathias leading; Lawn & Landscape Track: Brandon Horvath (Univ. of Tenn) plus presentations from Dave Clement, Kevin Mathias, Chuck Schuster, Geoff Rinehart and Fereshteh Shahoveisi.
As this is our 49th Annual Turfgrass Conference, I hope you all will continue to support the MTC, get new and updated information to make your business better and at the same time get your education credits you need for your various licenses.
Unfortunately, I am not sure I will be present this year, I have never missed a conference before, but I am scheduled to have my 2nd hip replacement on Dec. 2. However, rest assured the MTC Officers and Board have planned ahead. The Board has hired Ben Ellis as an Assistant Executive Director. You probably have seen Ben at previous conferences and MTC/UofM activities for more than a dozen years. Rest assured Ben and I will work closely until I enter the hospital in early December. So, if you have questions, please feel free to contact either of us.
