A GLOBAL FAMILY CONNECTED THROUGH MUSIC & ARTS
WELCOME to YOUR LEAF! LEAF is CONNECTION to the world, each other, our BEST selves, & the LAND here at Lake Eden.
We are so GRATEFUL YOU are here as part of this magical Festival & LEAF's mission! Join us in celebrating this season of change and an inspiring journey of “Legends of The Americas” honoring First Nations, Indigenous & Latin X diversity, cultural landscape, & music that is the core of the Americas. The journey of each of our own discovery & inquiry of roots of family & land, inspired uplifting the indigenous First Nations. It’s appreciation, it’s remembrance, it’s a window into the origins of humankind. It’s rediscovering the magic of the ancients through song, dance, music & stories. In this spirit, "Legends of The Americas" theme was chosen for the year to encourage learning, curiosity and connecting. We poured lots of love into creating a program to make your heart sing, stir your curiosity & move your feet. We honor the Culture Keepers & Artists sharing THEIR stories and songs. Together as we learn, listen, enjoy & dance we are all part of cultural preservation. Let's pay homage to the beautiful traditions & profound stories that continue to shape our human experience!
LEAF Love!! Navigator Staff & Board of Directors
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT and cmissive for us all to continue learning the history of the lands we steward & celebrate:
“We would like to begin by acknowledging that we are gathered on the ancestral lands of the Indigenous peoples of this region, including the Cherokee, Catawba & other tribes. We pay our respects to their elders past & present, who have stewarded these lands for generations.
We also recognize local history includes the forced labor & enslavement of African people, whose contributions often went unacknowledged. We honor the resilience & strength of those who endured & whose descendants continue to enrich our communities today.
As we stand on this beautiful land, we invite you to join us in continued learning & curiosity about its history & ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous & African American communities. We acknowledge the importance of centering their voices, stories, & experiences as we work towards a more just & equitable future together."
-Dr. Eric Howard, Board ChairLEAF INTERNATIONAL
