The LEAF Team was in full flow putting together final festival details & about to send this Program to press when Helene’s uminaginable devastation shifted priorities to taking great CARE of and with our community. The LEAF Local Artists Relief Fund was catalyzed by The Dan Lucas Memorial Fund, and will continue as a key support in the coming months. During our October Festival dates, we were grateful to bring some much needed LEAF Love to our Swannanoa & Black Mountain community, while our global community connected with World Drum Day.
LEAF International, empowering over 6230+ youths since 2006, is dedicated to cultural preservation, the fostering of global citizenship, & cultural exchange. LEAF collaborates with communities to support Culture Keepers who teach local youths their traditional arts.
LEAF Schools & Streets provides residencies in schools, after-school programs, & workshops within the community. Our Resident Teaching Artists are masters in global arts education & have inspired over 87,986 kids in our community since 2004! We have a growing roster of 28 Resident Teaching Artists & have an additional 11 Visiting Teaching Artist groups working with kids this October!
SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR KENNEDY CENTER PARTNERS IN EDUCATION TEAM WITH BUNCOMBE COUNTY SCHOOLS.
Ever ridden a LEAF Shuttle? You got to meet the one & only magical Papa Smurf. For 15 years, Papa Smurf greeted & shuttled LEAFers with so much welcoming joy. We imagine he got to drive a van over the crossing when he departed this life. We LOVE Edgar & all the Bryant Davis Family!
