LEAF INSTRUMENT DRIVE
Music is at the root of LEAF. We tap into the magic at the intersection of wonder, creativity, practice & performance by providing opportunities for local youth to pick up an instrument and connect with its build, sound, story and possibility. By donating gently used, professional-quality instruments to LEAF Schools & Streets, you are making a direct impact on the launch of a LEAF Instrument Petting Zoo yearround program, upgrades to current instruments and resources for new students. LEAF Love & Gratitude! *Wish List: Steel Drums • Congas • Djembes • Bongos • Acoustic Drum Set • Glockenspiel • Xylophone • Marimba • Drumsticks • Electric Drum Set • Electric Keyboard • Electric Guitar • Electric Bass • Portable Sound System (mics, stand, cables) • Tambourine • Violin • Thumb Piano • Accordion • Dulcimer • Hard Travel Cases (for various instruments) Want to support young musicians? Donate an instrument! 1. This weekend: Drop off @ Global Outpost on Sat, 10a-8p or Sun, 10a-3p. 2. Oct 23-Nov 22: Drop off @ LEAF office (906 Tunnel Rd) Mon-Thu, 9-5p. 3. By Nov 22: Mail to: LEAF, 377 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711. *If you need a charitable contribution letter for tax purposes, provide proof of appraisal at time of donation.
300+ YOUTH
PERFORMING THIS WEEKEND LEAF Festival is infused with the spirit of LEAF Schools & Streets’ young musicians, artists + the next generation of global citizens. Join the celebration by attending one of their many stage performances throughout the weekend.

Guatemala
With a new music room, increased number of youth, and full program expansion, LEAF International Guatemala is ready to share their sacred strings music with the world! During their 5-day residency and cultural exchange, LEAF International Guatemala will share the history of Guatemalan music, the importance of the Marimba – Guatemala’s national instrument & the influence Mayan culture plays in their country.
Next stop...
LEAF International Rwanda
LEAF International Rwanda, featuring Culture Keeper David Kwizera, will introduce young students to the rich, diverse music & dance traditions of Eastern Africa. Students will learn basic Rwandan dance, a tradition deeply embedded in the cultural interplay between African continuity, rhythm, and acts of positive resistance that challenged oppression. Through this cultural exchange, students will be invited to cultivate crosscultural understanding and a sense of global citizenship. Arriving to our final destination... and
Introducing LEAF International Ivory Coast
The Dembele family has been passing on their music culture for nearly 700 years. Because of the great amount of respect LEAF has for African arts & heritages, LEAF partners with culture keepers Adama & Dramane Dembele to support the continuation of West African Drum and Dance traditions in Ivory Coast. Look for LEAF International Ivory Coast across all stages and especially at the Global Outpost.

LEAF International Rwanda
establish their own home, cultural center serving 150+ Junior Troupe youth weekly, a LEAF Intore Junior Cultural Troupe consisting of youth who live on the streets or have no access to education, & their 1st ONEmic Studio, a recording & performing music space focusing on empowerment & resilience through lyric writing, beat making & music production.
LEAF International Bequia
Kids on Pans center has come to life! Since 2015, LEAF International Bequia has been renovating an old school building donated by their local government. Under the leadership & guidance of LEAF Parent Coordinator Levi Walker, the renovations are complete! The ‘Kids on Pans’ now have their own rehearsal space, and music center!
LEAF International Guatemala
has a new music room, studio, and CD! Their new space is fully equipped with non-parallel surfaces to prevent echoes, sound installation, lighting, and numerous electrical outlets. Have you lost someone close to your heart & soul? I have too. LEAF is one of those beautiful places where I feel them close to me. Pick up your luminary at the Boathouse, and decorate it or write a poem. On Friday 7:30pm, we will meet at the Boathouse to release our luminaries in honor of Loved Ones passed, and watch them illumine the healing waters of Lake Eden. ~Lindsay M.
