LEAF "Retreat was MAGIC & restored my soul". People who experienced the Retreats over the past two ask to PLEASE keep this extraordinary experience. LEAF ReTreat focuses on being in a beautiful secluded place in which you can relax, rejuvenate, and get away from it all. This is a premier experience with limited size. While maintaining the same footprint size, connecting with nature and the outdoors as an essential part of the experience. Retreats focus on LEAF’s community, specifically honoring Members and fulfilling our mission of building more connections. In this New Year and we are thrilled to introduce the theme for LEAF’s 3rd Retreat (May 12-15): “The Waters of Life.” We feel that cultivating cultural curiosity and learning are like water to a community. Like water, so vital to our planet, and to ourselves. This May, we are introducing Master Classes and “The Learning Quest!” LEAFers will get an in-depth opportunity to learn with some of our headliners like “The Preservation Hall Legacy Masters” to other LEAF greats like Kinobe of Uganda! "Those smiles of ours were worn the ENTIRE time at the Retreat, which was a Release, for all the worries, loneliness and other Covid-related challenges that the gathering lifted from us. It was the perfect way to emerge from our cocoon. LEAF is truly a miracle worker; I cannot express enough my gratitude for yet another unforgettable experience of a lifetime for all of us. LEAF Festival is our award-winning founding event that has been core to family and friend traditions over the past 26 years.. LEAF is one of the BEST WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL for Families on the planet. LEAF is "the one place our family meets up every year", "where I have taught my kids to explore other cultures", "where I have learned about music and met artists from all over the world", "where I met my husband", "where I found the BEST of me", amd "where I feel ALIVE". This is LEAF for over 500,000 people have gathered at this beautiful historical site at Lake Eden and learned and connected with artists from 104 countries. LEAF is know as a festival, yet it is also where anyone of any age can step beyond their comforts and explore arts and culture and CONNECT WITH THE WORLD, OTHERS, and THE BEST OF THEMSELVES. Drawing an audience of 5-12k (depending on the times) over the weekend from across the Southeast, this Festival has become a family & friend tradition and household name for many across the world! LEAF Festival is a spirited celebration of our local and global community. Stages are more elaborate with headline performers and global artists. This is the fun filled weekend with activities bursting at the seams that our community has come to know and love. October 2022 will finally be the Sollid Gold 50th Festival Celebration featurng Legends of Africa. "First, congratulations on an amazing LEAF. LEAF Downtown is a FREE two-day event held in the heart of Asheville at Pack Square Park. LEAF takes its mission and brings it to life for everyone to enjoy. In 2019, attendance was at its biggest with over 35,000 and we have shifted to. meet the times and were grateful to host over 5,000 safely in 2021. Completely open to the public, it draws locals of all demographics and tourists of all backgrounds to enjoy the best our city has to offer all while playing, singing, dancing, and celebrating together! LEAF partnered with City of AVL as a Strategic Partner in 2015 to create this community event.

LEAF Global Arts experience invites you to explore the world through immersive music & art experiences & cultural connections, fostering global citizenship, and opening pathways of understanding. This engaging experience is being designed for “Cultivating Cultural Curiosity” while honoring the rich history of the historic block. Locals and visitors can enjoy educational experiences, classes, and workshops rooted in music, art, community, and culture. In 2022, we look forward to bringing this historic space to life as an extraordinary learning tool for our community and visitors through Field Trips, Culture Tours with our Culture Keepers and Artists In Residence, trainings for our LEAF-Buncombe Co. Teachers Co-Hort with Kennedy Center, special private events, LEAF Schools & Streets Music & Arts Camps and a place where learning and culture are available.
LEAF is the exchange of ideas, culture, and music. LEAF is the living embodiment of development of our community - cross cultural education, music and arts, LEAF is that bridge. LEAF SCHOOLS & STREETS is made up of cultural arts programs that use the arts to bridge cultures and create life-affirming, community building experiences - empowering LOCAL youth to become global citizens, young artistic leaders & agents of positive change.
