Please type up your Summative Evaluation in the box below. Make a PDF of the document and post the PDF as your final post on your OUIL503 blog. Also, please cut and paste the text from this box into the final page(s) of your OUIL502 Project Report. I feel that overall PPP has been quite successful this year. At the start of the module I was lost in terms of knowing where my practice sits within the creative industries, I didn’t really know how to go about contacting professional’s and other creative and I also struggled with understanding some of the more technical aspects that come along with being an illustrator. After undergoing second year and this module, I feel I have a more developed, well-rounded understanding of my own practice, the creative industries and the direction I should be heading in. I have developed communication skills a lot over this module, mainly through the Creative Report. I got an opportunity to talk with an Illustrator I really admired and learnt how to conduct myself in a professional and approachable manner. I feel that I would now be more confident with contacting people and reaching out to other practitioners. I also feel that my practical skills have developed a lot over the course of the year and I have sufficiently reflected on this throughout PPP. I feel that this is something that this is really important to the development of my practice. I also have a wider understanding of the creative industries and where my work could possibly sit within these. I have had the opportunity to reflect on and develop my own body of work and I now feel ready to start narrowing down my practice to fit a more specific area of discipline. I feel like something that could have definitely been improved throughout this module is the development of my personal and professional identity. I was expecting that we were going to be given some guidance on how to start thinking and creating a brand identity for my practice. Unfortunately this wasn’t really mentioned and I feel I should have taken it upon myself to begin thinking about this and starting to develop my identity. I am hoping that this is something that I can rectify over summer so that I can come back in September and start producing relevant social media pages, business cards, website etc. I also feel I could have further pushed myself with life’s a pitch. This is something I struggled with, mostly because the brief was given to us a week prior to the presentation needing to be done, I struggled to engage with my group a bit and input my ideas. I feel like my group-work and collaboration skills are something that I need to build on next year. In terms of bringing things forward into next year, I would like to continue to develop my understanding of the creative industries and start building contacts within specific areas that I am personally interested in. I feel that at the minute I’ve established that I am interested in adult publishing, editorial and retail. I would like to experiment more in these areas and further define my practice. I would also like to carry on building contacts and feel that the skills I learnt in the Creative Report brief will only help me with this. Next year I know I definitely need to get on top of my time management and my organizational skills. This is something that I struggle with and that I know will pull me back in terms of my development. To get on top of this I aim to keep a diary, make sure I plan my weeks in advance and also dedicate time to blogging each day. I am hoping that next year I can continue to develop and extend my practice both personally and professionally and build up my skills and professional identity in preparation for graduation.

What went well and why? What did you enjoy? What were you happy with as an outcome? Be critical and analytical. Why did you enjoy it? Perhaps identify particular sessions? This could be ideas, solutions to problems, studentship or research. How well did you use the studio? Did you invest enough time in the development and testing of your outcomes?
-
What could you have done better? What were the problems you faced? What did you do to try to overcome them? This could be in reference to studentship, organization or blogging as much as studio practice.
-
How can you apply what you have learned here for future modules and projects? Application and future thinking. Things you would do differently next time? What useful methods, processes and ideas will you take forward into the next module?
You may also want to consider: Self-questioning: How did your thoughts and opinions change as you progressed through the module? Feedback: What other people (tutors and peers) thought of work and how you responded to that feedback? Research: Did you use contextual research to inform your ideas, ways of thinking or understanding of the challenges set. This may include further research of your subject matter, slides from the presentations or use of the library.
