THE HOTELS: The Tal Hotel Tel-Aviv is a few steps from a beautiful beach and near Tel Aviv’s trendy port and shopping areas and offers luxurious, modern rooms with tasteful furnishings. Restaurants and clubs are also nearby. Each room at the Tal is decorated in a contemporary style with wood floors, air conditioning, and a private bathroom. Try the freshly prepared kosher meals in the hotels main restaurant or enjoy pastries, sandwiches and fresh coffee and tea from the hotels Café Paris Coffee Shop. The Prima Kings Hotel has its own art gallery showing works by famous Israeli and foreign artists.The central position of the Prima Kings makes this a great hotel for exploring the historical city of Jerusalem. The Israel Museum, Church of the Holy Sepulchre and Time Elevator Jerusalem are all within easy reach of the hotel. ITINERARY Day 1 - Depart the USA: Depart USA from Los Angeles (LAX) for Israel. Day 2 - Tel-Aviv: Upon arrival at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, proceed to baggage claim and after clearing customs, you will be met by your Tour Host and transferred to your hotel. Tel Aviv is home to about a third of the country’s population and a large center for business and commerce. Located on the shores of the Mediterranean, Tel Aviv is also a major center for Israeli’s culture and entertainment, boasting of architectural wonders, numerous museums and a lively nightlife. Tour the city en route to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (Dinner) Day 3 - Tel-Aviv/Jaffa/Tel Aviv: Start the day with a visit to the Independence Hall where the establishment of the state of Israel was declared. Continue to Old Jaffa, an 8000 year old port city. Then visit the ancient ruins and walk along the restored artist's quarter. Visit Neve Tzedek, the first neighborhood of Tel Aviv, built in 1909 and Nahalat Benyamin, the pedestrian street of the city with its musicians, hand made jewelry and artifacts. Continue to visit Ayalon Institute, once an ammunition factory for the Hagana. Dinner & overnight in the hotel in Tel Aviv. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 4 - Tel-Aviv/Caesarea/Galilee: After breakfast, drive along the Mediterranean coast to ancient Caesarea. Tour the theater, the aqueduct and the Crusader Fortress. Tour the Sea of Galilee and the site of the Sermon on the Mount. Later today we will check into a Kibbutz in Galilee for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 5 - Galilee/Lebanon Border/Golan Heights/Military Camp/Galilee: Today we will visit the Lebanon Border, the Golan Heights, and a Military Encampment. We will return to the Kibbutz in Galilee for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 6 - Galilee/Yardenit/Bet Shean/Dead Sea/Masada/Jerusalem: This morning we will check out of the Kibbutz and depart Galilee. Stop at Yardenit on the Jordan River with its specially built Baptismal site. Continue to Bet Shean to explore the extraordinary excavations of this ancient Roman city. Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth to visit Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. At Masada ascend by cable car to the palace/fortress built by Herod the Great. Explore the excavations. Then continue to Jerusalem for hotel check-in, dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 7 - Jerusalem: Today is the Sabbath and yours to enjoy at leisure. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 8 - Jerusalem: Enter the Old City from the Dung Gate, to view the Dome of the Rock and the Mosque of Islam. Then continue to the Western Wall. Walk through centuries of history in the Hasmonean Tunnel (tunnel schedules permitting). Visit the Crusader Church of St. Anne and the Pool of Bethesda. See Pilate’s Judgment Hall, the Chapel of Flagellation and the Arch of Ecce Homo. Follow the steps of the Via Dolorosa through narrow alleys and souks to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Enter the Jewish Quarter and walk along the excavated Cardo, once a main street of Byzantine Jerusalem. Tour the Herodian Mansions, a complex of villas from 2000 years ago. Ascend Mount Zion; visit Dormition Abbey, the traditional Upper Room and the Tomb of King David. End the day by visiting Gethsemane. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 9 - Jerusalem: Continue touring Jerusalem with visits to Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book and Yad Vashem the memorial to the Holocaust. Stop at the Knesset building with its famous Menorah in front. Visit the Machaneh Yehuda Market to see traditional shopping and get a rare glimpse into Israeli culture. After dinner depart for the airport for your return flight home. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 10 - USA: Arrive in the USA early this morning. Please note: Though rare, it may be necessary to substitute hotels and adjust itineraries due to local conditions. THREE NIGHT OPTIONAL JORDAN EXTENSION: Day 9 - Jerusalem/Amman: Continue touring Jerusalem with visits to Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book and Yad Vashem the memorial to the Holocaust. Then proceed across the border to Amman, the capital city of Jordan. We enjoy a brief orientation tour, followed by dinner at our hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 10 - Amman/Madaba/Mount Nebo/Kerak/Petra We depart to Madaba (Biblical Medeba) to visit the Greek Orthodox Church and the 6th-century mosaics. We continue to Mount Nebo, the site where Moses saw the Promised Land. We continue our journey along the Kings Highway to Kerak, one of the two major Crusader castles in Jordan, situated on a hilltop, giving a magnificent view in all directions, particularly over the Dead Sea. This fortress was built to protect the approach to Jerusalem. The Crusaders held it until 1189 when Salah Al Din defeated them. We continue to Petra for dinner and the evening. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 11 - Petra We visit the Nabatean city of Petra, the Red Rock City, carved in colored sandstone and rediscovered in 1812. From the El Ji Post, we take an unforgettable journey as we continue on horseback, or walk through the famous Siq (natural gorge). We visit the Treasury, the Theater, Palace of Justice and other wonders. (Horses are included for our visit.) (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 12 - Petra/Jerusalem/USA: Today we make our way back toward Jerusalem. After crossing into Israel, we head directly to Jerusalem! Dinner is at our hotel. Day room provided. Depart for the airport and flight home. (Breakfast, Dinner)
