La Faire Bébé is a new event that is being brought to you by LeeLea Events. We are so lucky in Northamptonshire to have so much available for expectant Mums, Babies, Toddlers and Children. This Event will showcase just some of that under one roof, we have so many great local services and businesses in Northants! We will have soft play, children’s activities, character meet & greets and lots more to keep the kids entertained. We have a demonstration zone located to the back of the room, with scheduled activities. The jam-packed schedule can be found in this guide! Make your way to that area a few minutes before start time to get ready to join in the action. We will have lots of great shopping stands and a Mum’s Zone sponsored by The Earth Works Cosmetics. We wanted to bring something for you busy Mums too. Don’t worry Dads, we haven’t forgotten about you, with Father’s Day around the corner there will be lots of opportunity for the kids to make special cards for Daddy! Surviving the First Six Weeks “Being a parent is learning about the strengths you didn’t know you had...... and dealing with fears you didn’t know existed”. Becoming a first time, second time or even a multiple time parent can be daunting. So much advice is given to us from well meaning friends, family and professionals that it’s sometimes hard to see the woods for the trees. Often advice can conflict with our own thoughts and feelings and it can take a lot of courage to trust our instincts, tune into our baby and just do what feels right. For Clare and I, as both mums and qualified Baby Massage and Baby Yoga Instructors, that’s what drives us; the passion to support parents in developing that strong and loving bond with their baby. All our classes focus on giving parents confidence to listen to their maternal and paternal instincts that are designed to tell us what’s right and wrong. Key tips for surviving the first 6 weeks: n Relax – At times this will feel like an impossible task but babies’ emotions are coregulated by our own. Basically they are little emotional sponges and they will soak up any feelings that they come into contact with. When sleep deprivation takes hold and every tiny obstacle feels like a huge mountain..... Stop and Breathe.....
Take three big cleansing breaths to help you refocus and calm. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your partner, friends and family. Take small breaks to have a bath, a hot drink and recharge your batteries. Calm mummy and daddy means calm baby!
n Trust your instincts – A favourite quote of ours is
“If it feels wrong then it probably is” Lots of people will give you lots of advice, some of it helpful, some of it not so! If you feel yourself getting bogged down by it all and confused about what to do..... Stop and Breathe.....
Take three big breaths and listen to your instincts. You are the expert in your baby and your instincts are there to guide you to decide what’s best for your baby and you.
n Cuddle your baby! – This is possibly the biggest tip......
You cannot spoil your baby by holding them too much!
It is impossible to spoil a baby with too much love, cuddles and holding. In fact it does the opposite. A baby who has their needs met on demand and who has regular skin-toskin contact, cuddles and love will grow into a happy, confident and independent child who has a very secure attachment with mummy and daddy! So enjoy those precious cuddles and savour every moment!
After the first six weeks you can continue to develop positive touch with your baby and learn more about breathing and relaxation techniques by attending a Baby Massage or Baby Yoga course.
It is very important to ensure that you are taught these skills by a fully qualified and insured practitioner. Here are some things to ask the instructor so that you can be assured of a professional, sensitive and high standard of service:
n Have you been trained by an accredited training provider? n Does your qualification include training in anatomy and physiology, childhood development and baby brain development? n Do you have up-to-date professional indemnity insurance? n Do you provide detailed handouts to enable me to carry on practising at home? n Will you check my baby’s health and medical history to ensure they can safely take part in the class? n Can you provide references or feedback from other parents who have taken your classes? n Do you have a training portfolio? An instructor who has undertaken a thorough training programme will be happy to share their information and be able to reassure you by answering the above questions. We are Pamela Empeslidis & Maria Arnesson; long-time friends and mums, who in 2016 decided to join forces with the vision to create a fun one-stop kids store offering gorgeous, high quality children’s clothing, toys, books and gifts. We launched our shop in Market Harborough, Leicestershire in October 2016, and our online store in May 2017. I was delighted to be asked by LeeLea Events to be a part of their Model casting for La Faire Bebe We received a huge amount of interest from the public. These featured children and expectant mums attending a photo audition held at The Creation Station in Glendon. Claire and Leanne hosted the event, offering mums and dads teas and coffees throughout the day. The children were kept entertained with various toys and crafts, whilst waiting for their moment to shine. We had various ages booked in from 7 weeks to 4 years old. We also had 3 Mums to be with their lovely baby bumps. As I began to capture each child I knew exactly why their parents had chosen them for this search. Each of them had a little sparkle about them, a gorgeous smile, or simply something unique to offer. There were a few moments of chasing them around to get them back to the studio spot, or even jumping up and down with musical instruments to get them to smile. Thankfully the mums and dads did most of that. Some surprised me with their confidence and natural posing. All children were an absolute delight to capture and I could hear Claire and Leanne squealing with delight every now and then. It was exciting to get back to see what I captured from the day. I knew instantly that this would prove a hard task for Claire and Leanne to choose their top three Toddle Models! They were as delighted as I on the images and couldn’t wait to get down to their selecting task. After what seemed like an age, they presented their final images and then set about making the posters and special gifts for the mums of the winners. It was a wonderful experience for me to be a part of and I am delighted to have also produced some special memories for the families who took part. We also raised £65 supporting our local special care baby unit. Look out for future model castings with Northants Next Toddle Model, like them on Facebook and keep up to date with future events.
