NOW is the time to get realistic about acquiring the strength and flexibility needed to optimize your experience. Join a class designed to boost your capabilities and confidence while on the road. Climbing stairs to reach that restaurant, wrangling luggage, hiking to get to a tantalizing viewpoint or just navigating safely on paving stones and less-than-level terrain can be more physically demanding than we anticipate. We’ll work specifically on leg, back and arm strength, while simulating conditions that you’ll run into on the road. Expect to feel your core musculature and its connection to your enhanced power and agility. Learn a concise and effective warm up to start your day strong. Fitness Recovery Are sore, tired or tight muscles preventing you from working out as often or as hard as you’d like? Learn from a sports massage therapist how to improve your comfort and recovery speed between workouts through various forms of self-massage, passive range of motion, stretching and recovery techniques. We’ll explore basic muscle anatomy and kinesiology to help answer questions such as “Why would you stretch your hip if your knee hurts?” and “Is stretching always the answer?” This class will help you understand what to do after a workout and why. Celia Boarman Celia has studied ballet, jazz and modern dance but ballroom dancing was the style that captivated her. She studied theatre at Cornish college on scholarship, graduating from the U.W. with a BA in theatre and a minor in communications. She has professionally entertained audiences both on the theatrical stage as well as the ballroom floor.

Dance Beginning Ballet for Adults Join a welcoming, moderately-paced course for students with or without previous dance experience. We’ll begin with basic movements at the barre to develop a fundamental understanding of ballet technique, then practice simple exercises across the floor. This class is designed to help students tap into their own creative intelligence while moving, sweating and having fun! Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for full range of movement.
