Enhancing Education - The Power of Teaching Videos

Page 1

E-Learning E-leaning is becoming ever more popular as students are able to gain access to the leaning resources 24/7, from any anywhere, using computers, smartphones and tablets. This enables students to learn at their own pace and in the own time. For a number of years Dr Luigi Vorluni focused on identifying and implementing the most effective learning solutions. Using the knowledge and experience he has gained, and utilising the latest technology and teaching approaches, he creates teaching videos and other resources of different subjects that motivate and engage the learners, facilitating understanding, and augmenting learning. Dr Luigi Vorluni is able of developing e-learning solutions at different levels to meet the specific requirements of your college/institution, ensuring that your students get up-to-date, and the most relevant teaching and training delivered in a format and to a structure tailored for their needs. E-Leaning solutions are flexible, cost effective, and represent an effective way to help students learn, revise and prepare for exams, maximising their academic achievements and success. Videos in education There is a large body of evidence suggesting that technology can enhance learning. Indeed, multiple studies have shown that videos are a very effective tool to augment students’ engagement and learning. Dr Luigi Vorluni has conducted a study about the teaching videos he creates, involving 500,000 people with different abilities, age and gender. Further details are provide in the study paper, Appendix A and Appendix B, respectively.

A Study designed and conducted by Dr Luigi Vorluni

Title Teaching and learning in a contemporary context Objectives The objective of the study was to identify and implement effective strategies to facilitate understanding and enhance learning. Method and Participants The participants watched some videos, created by Dr Luigi Vorluni, and provided feedback. The number of people that took part in the study was 500,000 and the population cohort included participants with different abilities, age, and gender. Results The feedback from participants was positive, and they indicated that the videos contents were clear, concise and simplified so that the concepts could be fully and easily understood. Also, the population cohort included students, and they indicated that the teaching videos were very helpful to achieve their academic goals. Many of the students clearly expressed the interest in watching more videos. Further details about participants feedback is reported on Appendix A. Subsequently, the videos were sent for review to one of the most important British institutions, and below is included the feedback of the expert reviewers. The Institution has been anonymised for obvious reasons. Feedback provide by the expert reviewers

The tone of the videos is clear English and hits the right one for the level of understanding of an audience with different abilities. The videos are about the right length in terms of the amount of time for which we would expect someone to engage with this type of content, and it’s great that they incorporate animations, and that the images also include text explanations on-screen. There is a lot of evidence emerging to show that people accessing infographics on a mobile device are often viewing

them without sound and so subtitles are fast becoming the norm. Furthermore, people are increasingly accessing information from electronic devices, which has opened new opportunities and has changed the way that institutions and organisations are communicating with people. Conclusion The feedback provided by the participants of the study and by the expert reviewers, suggest that the quality of the teaching videos is very good and they can be used to help understanding and facilitate learning.
