A Collarborative Community

is our demographic founded by students, began for students to show their process expanded into a new kind of institution in itself, reaching the emerging artist demographic ranging from 18-30 years old. amo has successfully incorporated an internationally diverse group of individuals from almost every continent, all gathered in New York City to pursue their creative goals. we want to emphasize that by relying on our peers we create our own standard for our gennew concepts in thinking acting and discussing.

Projects

We chose the following three projects from our vast repertoire of over forty as concrete examples of the diverse possibilities of content and execution that our space provides. They are prime examples of what has happened and what can happen through AMO as scaffolding for creative pursuits.



IDC Arthouse

IDC Arthouse is a collective of friends originally foundgo, in 2006. In June of 2011, AMO studios hosted a month-long project involving indoor and outdoor murals, and culminating in a live music event. With the help of neighborhood management, large-scale murals, enhancing the colorful atmosphere of Waterbury St. Since then, the members of pursuing personal and collectheir skills and experiences. Some have gone on to organize painting projects internaschools and shared urban spaces from San Francisco to Mexico. Stemming from the experiences provided by to utilize immediate resources to expand community access to artistic projects, increasing accessibility and involvement ronments.

This experience has illuminated the possibility of establishing a studio school in the colthe interdisciplinary aspects of AMO and manifesting them in Chicago’s South Side, IDC’s point of origin. Collective members are painters, poets, musicians, photographers, chefs, tailors, stylists, gardeners, activists, curators, ing Creativity.



teenVAG

Established in the spring of 2011 by Natasha Nu単ez and Allison Levy, teenVAG is a self-published zine and creative platform used to promote the work of emerging female artists.The founding members of AMO studios were all women. Although AMO serves to feature works that do not over emphasize a world, the attention to detail and power through feminine subtlety revealed through this publication spoke volumes ative control that women harbor, and have yet to fully access. Featuring intimate and provocative photography, teenVAG elegantly activated this discourse within AMO studios through a carefully selected exhibition and reFollowing the opening event, the publication received a substantial amount of press, and put both founders as well as AMO on the map. A second issue of teenVAG was printed and released through Dashwood Books the following year.
