What is the goal of the project? Information The CD. Alcoyano is a football team from Alcoy, a city in Spain. The club was founded in 1928 and have always played in the National league. Nowadays, it’s playing in the second league but in the 50s it spent a few seasons in the top League. Later on in other periods of the last century it moved the Second League, Second League Group B and indeed, spent some years in Third League.

The CD. Alcoyano is a small football team but it has always used IT to let the fans enjoy their favourite players and get closer to the club. The idea of the project started off last year when the club managers decided to create a website where people could buy tickets. At that moment, the team was the in Second League and every week the stadium was packed and there were long queues at the ticket booth. For this reason they thought that it would be the best moment to incorporate a new ticketing service. At the beginning, it started as a website project to sell tickets but after deep analysis, the club was offered the option to have a full management website where they could check the members, fans, tickets and everything they needed. Finally, the project was divided into three parts. The first part was the ticketing website that allowed fans access to the stadium via their mobile phone. The second part was an intranet that allowed the club stuff to manage all the information. Finally, the last part was to install touch screen and QR readers on all the stadium gates to scan tickets and card passes.

Ticketing website Tickets sales website allow fans to choose the location of their seat on the stadium where they want to enjoy the match. They simply to select the sector, the number of seats, fill in a few brief details and finally pay with a credit card. The system offers the possibility of adding a telephone number for each ticket. If users supply their telephone number, they will receive a text with a link to the ticket. With this link, they can open a browser that will show them a QR code for access to the stadium.

The QR code is the technology used to let people access

Paper tickets and membership cards have always been the most common way of accessing the stadium. Standard tickets are printed in paper and all club members have a personalized membership pass.

This technology has more advantages than barcode.

Last Part: Stadium access control system

QR Code reader The QR code reader used in the system allows fast the read of mobile phone screen, tickets or laminated access cards. So, when there are crowded lines of people waiting for access, it helps speed up the process.

The access validation system has been implemented to read the QR code and upload code in our validation web page. The website checks the validations of the code. Depending on the outcome, the screen display will paint the screen with various identification colours. There are different colours to represent children, young adults, women, adults and tickets. The validation system has been prepared for filtering among different types of member and it helps to check if there are people using invalid cards pass, like adults using a child pass. Consequently, once the system was implemented in every stadium gate, members can no longer gain access with the wrong type of pass. Without the correct pass or ticket, access to the stadium is no longer possible.
