The Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society - Gamma Iota Chapter, and the Rho Chi Society - Gamma Tau Chapter, welcomed new inductees from the LECOM Erie School of Pharmacy during a ceremony held on January 11, 2020. Sean Stainton, PharmD, joined Rho Chi as a 2020 Faculty Initiate.

LECOM Erie held its Annual World AIDS Day Commemoration on December 2, 2019, to show support for those living with HIV/AIDS and to remember those who have died from the virus. Students, faculty, and staff formed a human red ribbon, placed ribbons on the LECOM Tree of Remembrance and Hope, and created memorial quilt panels.

The LECOM at Seton Hill Awareness Club hosted Antoine Douaihy, MD, and Jody Glance, MD, addiction psychiatrists from the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC. The duo of guests discussed the topic of Addiction in Medicine with first- and second-year students.

Cole Herzik, D1, showed Ramy Lonzo the way in which to use a variety of dental tools. The demonstration took place during the monthly LECOM Bradenton Human Body Explored Program for high school students.

LECOM Lip Sync

The LECOM Oncology Club hosted a Lip Sync Battle on January 10, 2020, to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie. The victorious team at the close of the Battle included Erik Esper, DO; William Wismer, DO; Stephany Esper, DO; Jan Hendryx, DO; Kim Moscatello, PhD; Lexi Seastone, Benjamin Esper, Karina Wismer, and Lauren Esper.

In November of 2019, LECOM and LECOM Health partnered with the Erie BayHawks to sponsor the Annual Salute Our Troops event. Fans donated care package items in exchange for a ticket to the game. Military Care Packages

More than 100 students, staff, and faculty participated in the Tenth Annual Give Kids a Smile event held on February 1, 2020. The LECOM Bradenton affair, sponsored by the American Dental Association, provided more than $120,000 worth of basic dental care to more than 300 area children who lack dental insurance.

Second-year LECOM at Seton Hill students Adam Burke, Lucas Lebbin, Sampath Choppara, Micah DeBenedetto, William Hoover, and Stephen Germann demonstrated their support for American Heart Month by wearing red on February 7, 2020 – National Wear Red Day.
