LECOM congratulates the winners of the Cleveland Academy of Osteopathic Medicine Annual Winter Seminar. This virtual format of the 56th Annual Winter Conference was held on January 29 - 31, 2021. The purpose of the seminar is to provide American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited programs that address the clinical practice needs of osteopathic physicians. Sessions are offered to continually assess issues, developments, advances, and trends in current medical practice, and to address identified needs through relevant comprehensive programs designed for general statewide physician audiences of all specialties. A host of events peppered the seminar offerings. LECOM participants performed admirably; and as in past years, LECOM scholars garnered many awards and accolades. The 2021 Student Advocate Award was presented to Austin Sellers, OMS-II, LECOM, University Hospitals and University Hospitals of Cleveland, East. The Cleveland Academy of Osteopathic Medicine (CAOM) established the award in honor of Emil E. Pogorelec, DO The award is designed to honor an exemplary medical student who exhibits the same passion for osteopathic medicine and the osteopathic profession in northeast Ohio as had the deeply revered Dr. Pogorelec. As the award recipient, Sellers is invited to serve as the Student Representative of the Executive Committee of CAOM, and to be formally recognized at the CAOM Annual Winter Conference. He also receives a stipend to attend the Ohio Osteopathic Association (OOA) House of Delegates Annual Meeting. LECOM is equally proud of the Abstract Research and Scholarly Activity Contest winners. LECOM students across all campuses have won abstract awards, and all First Place holders presented posters at the CAOM. The LECOM Medical Student winners in the Abstract Presentations Category are:
