"This recognition by Intelligent.com is a testament to the synergy and effectiveness of the interprofessional alumni relationships created through our programs." – Timothy Novak, DBA, SHSA Dean

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Masters in Health Services Administration (MHSA) program has been ranked one of the top online programs of its kind in the United States, according to a study by Intelligent.com.

Intelligent.com, a website dedicated to helping students connect with the best, easy-tounderstand resources and advice, analyzed 334 regionally accredited programs at 159 colleges and universities. Each program was evaluated for its reputation in the field, course strength, flexibility and cost. The LECOM MHSA Program ranked number five overall while also being recognized for having the Best Alumni Network.

The LECOM MHSA program is part of the School of Health Services Administration (SHSA). The program was initiated in 2014 to develop clinicians and graduate students into executive healthcare administrators armed with the critical knowledge, leadership skills, and confidence required to fully manage the growing demands and complex issues of the healthcare industry. All of the SHSA graduate programs, including the Masters in Public Health, Master of Science in Biomedical Ethics, and Doctor of Healthcare Administration, are designed specifically to accommodate busy students and working professionals. A large portion of the curriculum (98%), is delivered through a Distance Education Online Platform led by a dynamic team of faculty experts possessing deep industry experience. “Our Masters in Health Services Degree program teaches students the ‘business of healthcare’ as part of the largest medical college in the United States, creating an unique educational setting where clinicians and administrators can develop into future healthcare industry leaders,” explained Timothy Novak, DBA, SHSA Dean. “This recognition by Intelligent.com is a testament to the synergy and effectiveness of the interprofessional alumni relationships created through our programs,” he noted.

Healthcare administrators are integral to the operation of a healthcare system or organization, often overseeing Human Resources, financial management, strategic planning, day-to-day procedures, and patient advocacy. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates employment of medical and health services managers is expected to grow 32% by 2029, much faster than the average of all occupations; and due in large part to the sizable aging baby-boomer population.

LECOM programs provide students with indispensable knowledge, and sound leadership and communication skills required to plan, direct, and coordinate medical and health service organizations.

LECOM leaders are making their mark upon the future of healthcare administration as the college consistently maintains its noteworthy position in the vanguard of superlative medical education.
