This Tour de Ute Rural Health Network Partnership Forum is for Ute Mountain Ute Tribe council, program directors, managers, employees, and tribal members to follow up on the Native National Partnership Retreat in April, 2015 where 40 federal agencies gathered to recommend partnerships and collaboration. The purpose of the Rural Health Network Partnership Forum is to provide Information about services offered by local service providers willing to partner with the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe to increase access to and improve the quality of health for the members of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. The Rural Health Network Partnership Forum is the outgrowth of a planning grant that was awarded to the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe in 2015 by the US Department of Health & Human Services – Health Resources and Services Administration led by Marie Heart.

7 Key Elements of Native National Partnership PROGRAM

Walk in our Moccasins: An invitation by Chairman Heart to retreat participants “to walk in our moccasins,” to facilitate a process of collaborative dialogue to help participants really understand the tribe’s youth and elder needs.

Empowered Leadership: Project based service learning facilitated by Beverly Santicola and Bernadette Cuthair to grow a new generation of leaders to address serious issues such as teen suicide, alcoholism, substance abuse, housing shortages, domestic violence, hunger, poverty and more.

Strength-Based Approach: Youth leadership development training in problem solving guided by the Boomerang Coach Reiner Lomb, where youth create solutions based on their passions and strengths such as technology, culture, arts, music, and dance.
7 AXIS Health System
Partnering for Expertise and Resources: Invitation to local and national partners in the fields of leadership development, rural development, youth development, tribal culture, performing arts, and photography to train youth and then coordinate a community event where youth present to tribal council, community leaders, and government agencies to promote partnerships and collaboration.

Visual Art and Film: Communications, advocacy, and critical thinking training by Alex Munoz to expand youth visual arts instruction and filmmaking to include the performing arts, integrating lessons in music, dance, spoken word, culture, sound, lighting, and public speaking.

Tribal-Led and Place-Based Solutions: Training on asset based community development where tribal youth will develop solutions to expand and enhance programs such as Tiwahe/Tour de Ute, which leverages the natural resources and beauty of tribal land.

Facilitated Dialogue with Government Agencies: Facilitated dialogue with Tribal Council and federal/state government agencies where the youth present their plans and the agencies have the opportunity to identify expertise and resources to help implement these solutions.
