As you progress through our programme, you will hone your skills in the studio and develop your understanding of art, commerce and how the two combine to create a successful career path. There are many opportunities available, including selling your work, visiting exhibitions, collaborating with fellow artists and developing media campaigns, as well as working with the public and understanding the changing art landscape. You will also learn how to refi ne your professional practice and tell stories using artwork as a visual communication channel. You will exhibit your work from the very start, using our fantastic industry links to showcase pieces across three annual public exhibitions within the Leeds art scene. You can also access your own studio space at Quarry Hill Campus, located right in the heart of Leeds’ Cultural Quarter. It off ers multiple opportunities for self-promotion including: public exhibitions; working with gallerists and curators; self-promotion; and collaborating with other artists, designers and makers. The course is driven by the reality of being an artist in the real world; therefore it is designed to off er industry opportunities. The content has been developed with local galleries, art organisations and freelancers. You will develop your creative skills through technical supervision, critical questioning and individual agency, consolidating your creative identity with an increased understanding of social, cultural and theoretical art debates and infl uences. You will also prepare for life as an artist following graduation, receiving plenty of time with tutors to discuss your practice, ideas and creativity across a range of course modules.
