Blender - Design Process

Design Process on 3D softerware ‘ Blender’

I began by creating the basic shape of a planet; a sphere. I then continued by using the ‘Cell Fracture’ tool Within the software. This tool broke up any selected shape into a number of different pieces. From there I was able to select and duplicate parts of the the original sphere to form the outer exploding parts of the planet. I did this by increasing the distance of the pieces from the center of the original sphere on the X.Y and Z axis’s.

I next added Textures in the form of Materials and colours to my shapes. The software allowed me to choose from a range of textrues but I felt that a rough one would compliment the image I was trying to achieve.

After Rendering

Before Rendering

Here are all the layers I created compiled. I did a quick render to get a rough Idea of how my model was coming along.

Next I wanted to add some additional particles that would appear infront of the planet when looking through the intergrated camera. I used a similar method from earlier when making the crust. I created a cuboid to my desired length and width to choose how many particles I wanted. I then duplicated the shapes from layers 2,3 and 4 to the cuboid.

Final models in their unrendered form

The programme has a ‘Node Feature’. This feature allows you to make changes to a rendered image and see them in real time. I added some lighting effects that I felt were suitable to my imagery.
