KINAN MALLS - ENTRANCE & FOOD COURTS RENDERINGS ............................................... KINAN International is a key real estate developer in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and one of the largest developers specializing in Retail and Mixed-Use developments. This renovation project for 4 of their existing malls was essential to keep up with the ever-changing market trends of 2020. KINAN Malls Development team observed that each mall was built with a different character which does not come in line with one universal branding & image approach that the Client is aspiring for. The ambition was to upgrade areas which have a direct impact on customer experience by improving mall character and thereby encouraging greater footfall and increasing dwell time. Nature is the key element in creating signature design and updating Kinan’s brand identity. Green walls, trees and rustic finishes have been used to enhance the character of the spaces. A sense of the outdoor is created inside by introducing trees and planters in common areas which, with the inclusion of charging points, contribute in extending the amount of time customers spend in the malls.

This Project aims to revive and document the beautiful art and culture of Mesopotamia, which is modern day Iraq. This is achieved through spaces that symbolize and carry certain ideologies, events and feelings associated with different time periods. The project aims to explore the theory of deconstruction that was best depicted in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses and thoroughly investigated by the philosopher Jacques Derrida. The project highlights the following four aspects of the theory: 1. There is an origin without which nothing can exist 2. Nothing can have meaning or value without its opposite 3. History consists of an infinite cycle of ups and downs 4. All boundaries are blurred, for example the boundaries between interior and exterior space
