Hey Elizabeth You’ve done some research and you’re right — the requirements for government work are different, and more complex, than other types of jobs. From reporting requirements to pay rates, it’s a lot to keep track of. While this is by no means a complete guide to starting in on prevailing wage work, here are a few pointers: Be committed. Government jobs are long term commitments. Be sure to do your due diligence for each job, research it, and have a plan to complete it. Build mentor relationships. Talking with contractors and professionals who are well versed in government work is a great way to make sure that you’re prepared before a job. In addition, these people are great resources and full of valuable information, so maintaining these relationships can also keep you on track

The CA6000D model features a governor to avoid compacting at a too high a speed. length. The hydraulic pumps, arranged in line with the engine, are easily accessed for servicing. Another key new feature is the “ECO mode” fuel conservation system that minimizes fuel consumption as well as carbon dioxide emissions by ensuring that the roller does not consume more power than needed at any given time. The new models also give attention to enhanced safety features with Electronic Drive Control, which provides a “quick brake” function and a tilt indicator. Dynapac’s anti-spin traction system insures consistent on the go traction and gradeability. The combustion air intake is placed on the engine hood with the outlet running down the sides, thereby keeping the inlet air as clean as possible. When combined with the ejector exhaust outlet, this placement also serves to minimize noise levels. The new CA rollers have static linear loads of 280-pounds per linear inch (pli) on the CA5000, 310 pli on the CA5500, 335 pli on the CA6000 and 365 pli on the CA6500. All four models are equipped with interim Tier 4 engines from

Deutz, and can use a mix of biodiesel and regular diesel fuel. Optional features on the new rollers include: • Service interval alert on instrument panel indicates when a particular service is required; • Sustainability Package: an rpm management system, biodegradable fill for life hydraulic fluid, 50 hours service kit, electrical engine block heater and working lights with LED lamps (CA6000D only); • Air conditioned cabs with spin around seat and steering module, offering movement of up to 180 degrees without stressing neck or body. Spin around seats are also available as a standalone option, without the cab; and • Productivity software, including Dynapac CompBase, providing task planning, execution and analysis and CostCtrl web based software for life cycle cost control and increased machine availability. The new CA rollers are available in standard models with a choice of specifications and available options allowing customers to “build” their own machines, or choose from a number of pre-defined packages.

AVON, MA — RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Inc., a leading provider of traffic safety services and products, is guiding motorists through the Massachusetts Turnpike’s transition from the Fast Lane electronic toll collection program to the more widely familiar E-ZPass system. Under a contract with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, RoadSafe crews have begun a toll plaza signing and striping job that involves replacing black and yellow Fast Lane signage with new purple and white EZPass signs.

RoadSafe is working with one of its suppliers to dye the standard white thermoplastic material to the new purple EZPass color. The project will move from west to east along the turnpike, which stretches 135 miles from the New York state line to Boston. Completion is scheduled for September 2012. RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Inc., is one of the nation’s largest providers of traffic safety and pavement marking services, with more than 22 branches in the East, Southeast, Midwest, MidSouth and Western regions of the U.S.

RoadSafe will supply and install more than 350 signs on top of the plazas, ground mounted signs on exit ramps, as well as warning and regulatory signs. Multi-camera safety system helps equipment operators see the big picture MONTREAL, QC — A new multi-camera operator vision system from RMT Equipment is “jobsite-rated” to increase safe operation in the largest heavy-duty equipment operations. The TRACK-VISION systems from RMT are equipped to connect up to four cameras to a single monitor. According to Marc Lefebvre, sales manager for RMT, “Installing a four camera system on your mining truck or crushing plant is as easy as setting up one backup camera. You just run the insulated cable from the camera and plug it in.” Lefebvre says that safety-conscious equipment owners are now equipping more machines with multiple cameras to bring rear and side views of the jobsite into the cab along with “tool views, with the camera mounted all round the machine or on a primary or secondary crusher or conveyor system.” TRACK-VISION monitors borrow a page from the security camera industry by offering operators a choice of displays for the images from their cameras. Using the “quad box option,” display modes include a fixed view of a single selected camera, or an auto-mode that rotates through all cameras in sequence, or a split screen view that displays all camera images together. The high resolution 800-by-480 image on the standard seveninch monitor ensures a clear look in all directions with the split view display. The optional 10inch TRACK-VISION monitor is also available for applications in which the split screen will be used frequently or for viewing large work zones. The On-Screen Display (OSD) system built into the monitor enables users to label their views in terms that are most meaningful and intuitive for the operator. Multiple backup safety cameras are essential for
