tions combined,” said John Fairley, regional sales manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. “This large selection of mining and earthmoving equipment is sure to catch the attention of both domestic and international buyers. For those who are looking for anything from big wheel loaders and crawler tractors to massive rock trucks and motor graders — this auction showcases Ritchie Bros. as the place to go when you need mining equipment. And, as with all of our auctions, each item will sell to the highest bidder, regardless of price-with no minimum bids or reserve prices.” “Trinity Coal Corp. had been using the equipment at their coking and thermal coal mining complexes in Kentucky and West Virginia,” said David Stetson, chief restructuring officer for Trinity Coal Corp. “Those in the mining industry will know D11’s are primarily mass earthmoving machines. The fleet is composed of ‘big rock job’ type machines that we primarily used to remove overburden at our coal operations in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia,” added Mr. Stetson. “At one time, our D11 fleet was the largest fleet operating anywhere in the U.S.” After being in operation for a number of years, some of the Caterpillar units are currently undergoing a refurbishing process in preparation for the September auction. All powertrain and undercarriage updates are being conducted by authorized CAT dealers. Detailed equipment information, including high-resolution photos of the equipment, is available on our website at www.rbauction.com/bigiron. More than 60 D11’s in a single auction event is a rare find. Companies looking for brand new equipment may have to face a wait time before acquiring a machine to put to work. “If you’re looking for a brand new D11 (from the manufacturer), you’ll have to add your name to a wait list and the queue is currently long due to high demand for mining equipment in various regions. At the September auction in
North Carolina, people will have the opportunity to find a large selection of well maintained equipment - it’s a big opportunity to acquire big iron that you can potentially put to work the following day after the auction,” added Mr. Stetson. “There is currently high demand for this type of equipment across the globe, in Canada, Latin America, Asia and even India - with Ritchie Bros. in charge of
the auction, buyers in all of these regions and beyond will have an opportunity to acquire quality earthmoving equipment at reasonable prices.” General auction details — Raleigh-Durham, NC (Sept 27, 2012): The Sept. 27 mining and earthmoving equipment auction forms part of a two day Grand Opening auction for the Company’s new Raleigh-

CALHOUN, GA — Highlighting the continued demand for fuel efficient, high performance excavators, Kobelco Construction Machinery America announced the production of its 25,000 American made excavator at the company’s manufacturing facility in Calhoun. During a ceremony to mark the special occasion, Kobelco executives recognized staff and management who helped achieve the significant manufacturing milestone and presented the 25,000 unit to local dignitaries — including representatives from Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal’s office of Economic Development, representatives from the offices of Georgia’s U.S. senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson, Calhoun Mayor Jimmy Palmer, and special guests and more than 200 plant employees. “This momentous occasion reflects the continuing demand for Kobelco excavators and further emphasizes the long term success of our machines and our tradition as a technology leader,” said Jim Hasler, vice president, CNH Construction, North America. “We could not have reached this important milestone without the skills, support and dedication of the employees at this facility.” Located an hour north of Atlanta, the 280,000square-foot plant in Calhoun produces Kobelco excavators in six model classes — ranging from 16 to 48 metric tons — for customers in the United States, Canada and Latin America. The plant is on track to produce more than 1,100 Kobelco excavators in 2012. “At a time when some companies have moved production offshore, we are proud to celebrate production of the 25,000 Kobelco excavator, made right here in America,” Hasler said. “For nearly 30 years, Kobelco has been manufacturing high performance excavators in the United States, and we look forward to building our next 25,000 excavators
in Calhoun.” The 25,000 unit, a Kobelco SK350 Mark 9 Series full sized excavator, will be delivered to CLM Equipment Co. Inc., a Kobelco dealer based in Louisiana, with locations across the Gulf region. “The SK350 Mark 9 is one of the most productive machines in its size class,” said Reece Nor-
wood, Kobelco platform manager. “Built for heavy applications, the 25,000 Kobelco excavator will be able to tackle any road and bridge, sewer and underground utilities or mainline pipeline construction job out there.” Featuring industry leading breakout force and lifting capabilities,
this fast, powerful and versatile excavator can dig the trench, crane the pipe and finish with impressive precision. “The SK350 Mark 9 excavator sets the industry standard in terms of controllability, especially in multifunction applications,” Norwood said. “Operators will appreciate the impressive con-
trol and smoothness, and the added confidence will make them even more productive. The ease of operation allows even a novice excavator operator to be productive on the job.” The excavator features an upgrade to Kobelco’s legendary intelligent hydraulics, as well as a

Sandvik equipment helps make Mall greener
A Sandvik QA440 mobile screener helps Stancills Inc. carry out ground renovations at The National Mall in Washington D.C. For some, this could be a “Picture Postcard Moment!” by Virginia Varela-Eyre, marketing manager Construction Americas Sandvik Construction The National Mall in Washington D.C., one of the most popular tourist destinations in the USA, and site to presidential inaugurations and political rallies, is the country’s most visited park. With an estimated 24 million visitors a year walking on the grounds of The Mall, the soil has been so heavily trampled and compacted that grass has been hard to grow. The state of disrepair of this national symbol has long called for renovation of its grounds. Stancills Inc. is a family owned and operated Maryland engineered soils manufacturing company located along the northern shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Founded in 1934 by G.L. Stancill, a farmer from North Carolina who ventured into the business of sand and gravel mining, Stancill started with a collection of material from gravel banks using only a shovel and a pickup truck. He funded his enterprise with savings from his four years of service in the Army. In 1938, the company’s productivity grew dramatically when Stancill acquired his first mechanical shovel and by the time the Second World War broke out, G.L.’s service to his country came in the form of his business. During that time, Stancills Inc. came to be considered essential to the war effort. As the business grew successfully, it went on to be operated by three of G.L.’s four sons. Today Stancills Inc. is run in partnership by G.L Stancill’s son Terry and Terry’s daughter Emlyn Stancill. Changing Times As the area grew, the market for construction materials became a very competitive one. Stancills Inc. needed a new strategy to stay ahead of the game. The

demand for manufactured soil in the region, combined with environmental legislation requiring the use of specialized soils for storm water mitigation, made the engineered soils business a worthwhile choice. Accordingly, they chose to diversify into that specialty and away from sand and gravel mining. This vision, combined with the attention to detail of customers’ current and future needs, allowed the new business model to thrive. It made Stancills Inc. the engineered soil supplier of choice within the region. Most recently, this company stature proved essential in winning the contract for the topsoil screening project at the National Mall. The task of renovating the topsoil of one of the national symbols of the USA is not a minor one. The required material specification was very fine: 1/2inch. This material needed to be sized out from the grounds, which, over time, had accumulated a considerable amount of debris and gravel. This kind of precision screening requires a very productive and reliable machine. The Stancills chose the Sandvik QA440, a tracked unit which features Sandvik’s unique, revolutionary, patented Doublescreen technology. “We chose Sandvik because of the competitive pricing and the (unit’s) quality of course,” says Emlyn. “But most of all, we chose the Sandvik unit because of the excellent support received from Chris Quinn, from AES. His customer service (to us) has been essential. More than a salesman, he has felt like a member of our team.” The Mall jobsite The work involved feeding the stockpiled, excavated soil directly into the hopper with a loader. The QA440’s hopper can handle up to 14.8-square-yard and can be also fed from an excavator or another screener if so configured. In order to achieve the 1/2inch final product size required, this machine was fitted with 2 and 1/2-inch square meshes. The top mesh screened out oversize material, which was abundant in this project. The unit’s Doublescreen design allows for the two screen boxes to be tilted at different angles to one another for optimum efficiency. In this application, the first box was positioned at a very steep angle in order to quickly eliminate the oversized material. Because this technology is unique in the market, it makes this machine one of the most efficient and reliable mobile screeners available. Additionally, the QA440 boasts an impressive 20foot x 5-foot screening area with side and main conveyors designed for massive stockpiling capabilities of over 16-feet, 10-inches. This makes the QA440 ideal for demanding applications where production is key. Because the unit is track mounted and self-propelled, it can be easily maneuvered within the site via

remote control. That allows for easy movement and a quick start up for production in a different location. In this way, the QA440 is ideal for screening jobs where reliability, flexibility, mobility and high production are paramount. It was especially helpful on The Mall project as it is in other urban locations with restricted access. Area Manager Chris Quinn, from Advanced Equipment, distributor for Sandvik mobile crushers and screeners in the Mid-Atlantic States, says:
“Dealing with Terry and Emlyn has been an absolute pleasure. They were keen in getting the right equipment and working closely together with them in order to understand their needs has been essential. It gives me great joy to see how we have contributed to make their business prosper.” For more information on Sandvik Construction, contact them at 404-589-2823 or e-mail: virginia.varela-eyre@sandvik.com.

Multi-camera safety system helps equipment operators see the big picture MONTREAL, QC — A new multi-camera operator vision system from RMT Equipment is “jobsite rated” to increase safe operation in the largest heavy duty equipment operations. The TRACK-VISION systems from RMT are equipped to connect up to four cameras to a single monitor. According to Marc Lefebvre, sales manager for RMT, “Installing a four camera system on your mining truck or crushing plant is as easy as setting up one backup camera. You just run the insulated cable from the camera and plug it in.” Lefebvre says that safety conscious equipment owners are now equipping more machines with multiple cameras to bring rear and side views of the jobsite into the cab along with “tool views, with the camera mounted all round the machine or on a primary or secondary crusher or conveyor system.” TRACK-VISION monitors borrow a page from the security camera industry by offering operators a choice of displays for the images from their cameras. Using the “quad box option,” display modes include a fixed view of a single selected camera, or an auto mode that rotates through all cameras in sequence, or a split screen view that displays all camera images together. The high resolution 800 x 480 image on the standard 7-inch monitor ensures a clear look in all directions with the split view display. The optional 10-inch TRACK-VISION monitor is also available for applications in which the split screen will be used frequently or for viewing large work zones. The On Screen Display (OSD) system built into the monitor enables users to label their views in terms that are most meaningful and intuitive for the operator. Multiple backup safety
cameras are essential for operating large machines or crushing plants. Along with excavators, Lefebvre especially recommends boom cameras for demolition equipment, where the operator may reach over and behind a wall when equipped with either a breaker or shear. Unlike devices designed for automotive or surveillance use, however, TRACK-VISION monitors are built specifically for the working conditions faced by heavy equipment. The brightness of the TRACK-VISION monitors adjust automatically to ambient light, ensuring clarity and reducing operator fatigue throughout long duty cycles in any season. An integrated sun visor is included in all models. The LED displays are housed in fully watertight enclosures to prevent moisture and humidity from clouding the view or damaging internal electronics. They are proven resistant to impacts and vibration and they have tested successfully in temperatures ranging from -50 to 185 degrees. For additional reliability, the monitors are equipped with built-in surge protection and filtering to insulate internal components from uneven power supply. All TRACK-VISION monitors are compatible with both 12 V and 24 V electrical systems. Established by Bob and Marc Lefebvre in 1996, today RMT Equipment is a leading North American specialist in weighing solutions and the TRACK-VISION Camera System for wheel loaders, forklifts, log loaders, excavators, mining trucks, scrapers and conveyor belt scales and metal detectors. RMT is the North American Head Office for the VEI Payload Management Systems (Loader Scales) and the Canadian Head Office for SciTronics belt scales and metal detectors. In 2010,
RMT introduced North America to the XW family of wireless crane scales and grapple scales developed by Intermercato AB of Sweden. RMT systems and solutions are sold and serviced by a growing network of equipment dealers throughout the United
States and Canada. For further information, contact Marc Lefebvre, sales manager, North America, RMT Equipment Inc., 370 Labelle, Suite 114, Laval, QC Canada H7P 2P1, 800-648-8132, 450-6220682, or visit www.rmtequip.com.

Atlantic Equipment celebrates 10 years as a top SENNEBOGEN dealer Recent sales success rewards Atlantic’s pioneering work to establish “simple” material handlers as the industry standard in America HAMPTON, VA — In scrap handling facilities from coast to coast, the distinctive green machines from SENNEBOGEN are one of the industry’s most familiar sights, loading trucks and barges, feeding shredders, stacking bales… Today, SENNEBOGEN is recognized everywhere as a leader in purpose built material handling equipment. But 10 years ago, it was a different story. “When we began selling SENNEBOGEN, we were taking in a machine that nobody had ever heard of,” recalls Garland Miles, sales manager of Atlantic Equipment & Supply Inc., based in Hampton, VA. “Sales were not easy. We were going to the expense and the time to basically give customers a machine and hope we could convert it into a sale once they could see how it worked and why we were promoting it to them.” In 2012, Atlantic has been celebrating its 10th year with SENNEBOGEN after winning the manufacturer’s “Dealer of the Year” award as the top selling distributor in 2011. Constantino Lannes, president of SENNEBOGEN LLC, said, “It’s a pleasure to have this opportunity to recognize the great work Atlantic Equipment has been doing for us for so many years. They show what can be accomplished if you develop and serve the territory well.”
Rooted in equipment service and repair Jim Smelgus, president of Atlantic, founded the firm as an equipment repair and service business more than 20 years ago. When Erich Sennebogen arrived from Germany looking for someone to help launch his family’s material handlers in America, Smelgus’ focus on service and parts dovetailed perfectly with the company’s blueprint for long term success. “These weren’t the first true material handlers we had seen,” says Smelgus. “But most scrap yards were still using cable cranes and antiquated excavators that were converted with some kind of grapple. Being first doesn’t always mean better! The first line of material handlers to come here failed because of service.” Atlantic entered the equipment sales business with customers’ confidence that Smelgus and his team would stand behind the product. SENNEBOGEN’s plan was to reinforce that confidence with reliable parts supply and excellent application support. Smelgus notes that SENNEBOGEN’s nationwide sales success is still rooted in its commitment to the service side of the business. After establishing a base in Charlotte, NC, SENNEBOGEN built a 54,000-squarefoot parts warehouse and training facility in the nearby town of Stanley. Recently, Lannes announced expansion plans that will nearly double its size to 100,000-squarefeet by the end of 2012. “What they have done to improve the product in just the past five years
has been phenomenal,” Smelgus says. “It just goes to show you that they are very committed to the North American market and they have listened carefully to both the dealers and their customers. Through that, you can see why so many equipment customers have become SENNEBOGEN customers.” Support leads sales growth According to Garland
Miles, the second key point in SENNEBOGEN’s growth strategy was to avoid growing too fast. “Erich Sennebogen’s game plan from the getgo was to focus on quality and service. He didn’t start off dumping machines with low ball prices, he did it the old fashioned way: by proving the machine was a good one.” The company set a policy that it would not sell a machine until a
servicing dealer was in place locally and the complete parts list was on the shelf. The Atlantic team took an active part in helping SENNEBOGEN refine its program for the U.S. market. Smelgus’ fluency in German helped to establish a close friendship with the founder of the family firm, the late Erich Sennebogen Sr. “Erich Sr. was very personable and as down-to-earth as any-
one could be. He was very open-minded to our experience with the material handling industry in the U.S., so it was a learning experience for both of us.” A winning strategy The gamble ultimately paid off as SENNEBOGEN emerged as a highly trusted brand, not only in America’s scrap yards, but in river ports, waste handling, mills and

forestry applications as well. “The scrap business is a real fraternity,” Miles observes. “If one guy does something, the others know about it; word just spreads.” “SENNEBOGEN was an unknown then but once when you got around to telling them it was a non-computerized system, that’s when they stood up and took notice,” he continues. “Especially when the customer had a shredder in the yard. For other machines with a

The simplicity of SENNEBOGEN means that our techs can at least walk their mechanics through some of the less complicated issues in order to keep them operational. With a few minutes on the phone, we can get them up and running, then they turn around and make us look good to the people buying the equipment.”

Repeat sales sustain growth The foundation that Atlantic helped to build with quality and service led the dealership to its highly successful sales year in 2011. Serving a territory that includes Maryland and Virginia, Atlantic still finds new opportunities to expand its customer base. “Most of those early prospects in the scrap business that didn’t get on board with us 10 years ago have since become SENNEBOGEN customers,” says Miles. “Since most of the scrap processed here is going to export, up to 90 percent of it, we recently took
on container tilters so we can deliver a complete top-loading solution for yards shipping through the Port of Baltimore. At this point in Atlantic’s sales strategy, Smelgus and Miles agree that, “… repeat business is our claim to fame…” With commitment to service as their cornerstone, Atlantic and SENNEBOGEN look forward to seeing every sale from past turn into satisfied customers for the future. display for improved operator productivity; • Magnet generator system functions integrated into the cab display for operator efficiency; and • Standard rearview camera for improved worksite visibility. The new turbocharged diesel engine of the MHL350 E features increased power and lower fuel consumption. The new handler boasts a 214 hp engine, eight percent more power output than the MHL350 D. At the
same time, specific fuel consumption of the engine is reduced by 11 percent. Economical and environmentally friendly, the MHL350 E runs cleaner and more efficiently than ever before. The handler’s engine features a cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system with Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) to offer the latest in emissions control technology. Regeneration of the particulate
filter cleaning occurs automatically, without impacting machine performance. The regeneration process can be temporarily interrupted, if necessary, by pressing an indicator button located on the control panel. Engine start/stop is now push button controlled to properly manage engine shutdown while under critical load conditions or during DPF regeneration. A new high performance main hydraulic pump increases pump capacity by
three percent. Combined with improved engine performance, the increased oil flow provides greater handling efficiency of the MHL350 E. Both the engine and hydraulic system incorporate larger cooling systems protected by vented panels that provide increased airflow. The engine’s new hydraulically powered fan is designed to automatically adjust airflow based on operating conditions to provide an optimal level of cooling. Controls inside the
spacious cab have been updated to improve operator efficiency and comfort. At 23 percent larger than previous designs, the Wide Video Graphics Array (WVGA) display includes a higher resolution and higher contrast screen with an antiglare shield and scratch resistant coating. Intuitive controls make for a short learning curve of MHL350 E operation and the ergonomic multifunction button delivers effortless fingertip navigation through the display. The Man Machine Interface (MMI) box for the standard 20 kW onboard generator system is now incorporated into the cab display for improved efficiency. The MHL350 E offers four operating modes for the magnet attachment — small, medium and large parts handling and a jogging mode for sorting. Machine filters and central lubrication system are accessed via a stow away ladder leading to the machine’s centrally located service platform. The handler’s fuel prefilter is now mounted on top of the fuel tank for easier servicing. The large coolers for the engine and hydraulic system are lockable and readily accessed from ground level. Additional CAN Bus connections found on the MHL350 E expand diagnostic capabilities, so service technicians can identify and address underlying issues. Hydraulically height adjustable, the handler’s cab offers a maximum eye level elevation of up to 18.4-foot above ground level, improving performance during loading/unloading procedures. Its cushioned cab elevation system provides absorption of shocks and jolts for operator comfort. The new MHL350 E is equipped with a standard rearview camera system. Color video of the area behind the machine is
visible on the WVGA display, providing an expanded view of the work area around the machine. The handler’s contoured counterweight is designed to protect the camera from damage during operation. Purpose built to withstand the extreme operating conditions encountered in scrap handling and recycling applications, the new Terex Fuchs MHL350 E also incorporates many features found on its predecessor that deliver reliable operation. Rigid hydraulic pipes on the stick, boom and undercarriage offer superior protection from damage. Steel plates shielding the hydraulic lines at the end of the stick offer additional protection against damage to improve system reliability. Inverted hydraulic cylinder mounting provides protection during truck and rail car loading/unloading and reduces exposure to debris and moisture to improve longevity. The MHL350 E’s rugged double row slewing ring design disperses forces over two rows of bearings to improve component service life and durability. Terex Corporation is a diversified global manufacturer of a broad range of equipment that is focused on delivering reliable, customer driven solutions for many applications, including the construction, infrastructure, quarrying, mining, shipping, transportation, refining, energy, utility and manufacturing industries. Nothing cheesy about this operation Wisconsin company turns DNR requirement into a thriving wood waste operation.
Material of all sizes grinds well in the Woodhog. It’s believed by many that everything happens for a reason and that, even though we fail to immediately see the purpose behind an event or an action, something good will come of it. Such was the case for Zblewski Brothers, LLC. Operating a growing tree service company in the late ‘70s, they’d become accustomed to bringing wood waste from their projects back to their property to stockpile and burn. While effective, the activity eventually caught the attention of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) which told them that, because of the growing volumes, an alternative method of wood waste disposal would have to be found. To some, this would have been a deterrent to continued operation; to the Zblewski’s it ushered in a new era of growth. As the company nears its 35th year in business, it has embraced a number of different grinding and chipping technologies over the years, currently operates a Morbark 6600 Wood Hog to replace the large scale bonfire, and has become the go-to source for landclearing in central Wisconsin. Though they haven’t formally thanked the DNR, the thought is there. Excellence in Iron Based in Plover, WI, just outside Stevens Point, Zblewski Brothers has a rich history, much of which

revolves around a continual effort to make the wood waste recycling process better through continued improvement in its equipment. According to owner Roger Zblewski, that effort started in 1978, shortly after the no burn notification from the DNR. “When we realized that we would no longer be burning debris, we went to a Morbark office that was located in Tomahawk at the time and looked at a small gas powered chipper,” he says. “Knowing what we had to do in terms of volume, I told the salesman I didn’t think that was going to do it. We decided to get a larger diesel instead and haven’t looked back since.” He adds that a close relationship with Morbark developed, and years later when the company was working on an early design of a larger chipper,
Zblewski was invited to the plant in Michigan to look at the unit, identify any problem areas, offer any suggestions to make it better, etc. “That’s really what we like about the company,” he says. “They reach out to users like me to see what we think or what we’d change, and then incorporate our suggestions into their new designs. I’m fairly sure that doesn’t go on everywhere else in the industry.” Moving up As Zblewski Brothers’ business grew from a tree service company to one with more of an emphasis on land clearing, so too, did its choice of equipment. While chippers were fine during those early years (the company had worked its way up to a 36-inch model), larger diameter debris and a growing volume made

ZblewskiBros. from 22 additional moves necessary. Zblewski says a horizontal grinder made the most sense. “By this time — it was around 1998-we had found local paper plants who were interested in our material and, for them, material size was not really a concern since they were reprocessing the material through a hammermill at their plants. So we once again turned to Morbark and this time purchased a 5600 Wood Hog. The horizontal grinder gave us the volumes we needed to keep them supplied. With that move, I guess we were officially in the recycling business.” The company relied upon that 5600 for more than six years until volumes again grew to such an extent that an additional upsizing was needed. In 2004, they took delivery of a 6600 Wood Hog which is still in use today and which Zblewski says has been an amazing machine. “The 6600 has been outstanding for us since we bought it — and we are coming up on eight years of solid use,” says Dennis Zblewski. “A good deal of that satisfaction is, obviously, because Morbark builds machines to stand up to punishment. But I also know that we maintain our equipment better than most. By comparison, we knew a local company that had an identical machine to ours and ran it into the ground by not doing any maintenance on it at all. This is a lot different from a payloader in which the only thing that takes any punishment is the bucket. On a grinder, the whole machine is constantly working for you and it needs attention. After all this time, ours is faded, but it still runs like a top.” Roger Zblewski stresses that they traded in their 5600 only because they needed additional volume, not because there was anything they didn’t like about the unit. “In fact, not too long ago I heard that that same machine is currently at work making boiler fuel in far northern Canada. You just can’t keep a good machine down.” Choices abound While they do accept material from area businesses and residents at their eight acre site, the overwhelming majority of the material they get comes from their own landclearing projects. Zblewski says they generally operate within a 100 mile radius of their location and have a couple of options for handling the onsite debris: they can either process and load the material at the site, or haul it back to their location to be run through the grinder. Onsite work, he says can be equally varied. “Landclearing work varies from job to job,” he says. “But ideally we like to get in there with an excavator and our grinder, process the material, load it into trucks and send it off to the mills. Occasionally, we run into logs that need downsizing on the spot and for those cases, we contacted Wally Robison, Morbark’s regional sales manager, who hooked us up with a Morbark stump shear that we call the ‘dinosaur nose.’ It will split almost anything and really helps keep efficiencies up for us.” The grinding operation has grown to such an extent that, what was once an offshoot of the tree service

Advance Tire introduces new Kolossus tire MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Advance Tire Inc. has just introduced the Kolossus Solid Tire to the U.S. market. The Kolossus soft ride solid
tire line represents the latest innovation in solid OTR tire technology. When the Kolossus Tire was designed we looked to build a solid tire that
improved on the current solid tires in today’s market. We started by building a solid tire that utilizes your machine’s original equipment rims. By
using the proven press on tire technology, customers do not have to buy a specialized rim. The solid tire is simply pressed onto your exist-
ing original equipment wheel. Built for use in the most extreme operating environments, the Kolossus Solid Tire utilizes an extremely tough rubber compound throughout the entire tire. We do not add fillers or recycled rubber to our tires which eliminates peeling and separation in the tire. Combine that with a very deep tread depth and you have a tire that runs for a long time in the most severe environments. One of the biggest innovations in the Kolossus Tire is the ride. With two rows of large aperture holes that go deep into the body of the tire, the Kolossus Tire will flex more than any other solid tire on the

market. Solid Tire flex is a key feature in providing a better ride but also increases tire life. The more a solid tire can flex, better traction is achieved, the tires spin less thus decreasing tire wear rates. For more information on the Kolossus Solid Tire line please contact Advance Tire at 800-4456647 or e-mail jerrys@advancetires.com.

The JRB PowerLatch™ multi-pin grabber coupler by Paladin, designed by Miller UK Limited, is one of the safest, most advanced multi-pin grabber couplers available for excavators and loader backhoes. It employs several advanced safety features, including a patented Automatic Blocking System (ABS) that ensures coupler engagement is maintained during hydraulic failure. Designed to work with a wide range of buckets and attachments, the JRB PowerLatch has the most features, reduced offset and is one if the lightest, yet strongest excavator and loader backhoe multi-pin grabber couplers available today. The JRB PowerLatch features backup mechanical locks on both the front and rear attachment pins that are independent of the machine’s hydraulic locking and operating system. The ABS mechanical backup safety system automatically locks both pins so coupler engagement is maintained even if hydraulic failure occurs. If the rear bucket pin is not correctly engaged, or missed during the attachment process, the ABS automatically secures the front attachment pin. Attachments can only be removed under operator control when they are in a safe, curled position preventing accidental release of the attachment. In addition to its advanced safety features, the JRB PowerLatch includes reduced offset that allows for greater breakout force. Ports connecting the hydraulic hoses to the coupler are located
on top of the cylinder, making installation much easier. Paladin is a leading manufacturer of couplers and attachments throughout North America and parts of the world for the construction, aggregate, agriculture, landscaping, land clearing, recycle, mining, demolition, utility, aviation and municipal market segments. SKF ‘Three Barrier Solution’ introduces a bundle of products to increase reliability of bearings for conveyors operating in harsh conditions A unique SKF “Three Barrier Solution” for conveyor applications exposed to extremely harsh conditions introduces a bundle of environmentally friendly products designed to increase bearing reliability and extend service life without the use of solid lubricants, auxiliary seals, or large quantities of grease. This conveyor solution ideally suits operations in the mining, cement and aggregates, steel, forestry, and pulp and paper industries, among others. The “Three Barrier Solution” consists of four interrelated components: Factory sealed and upgraded SKF Explorer performance class spherical roller bearings, optimized split pillow block housings, PosiTrac Plus™ type seals for the housing and 60 percent to 80 percent grease fill inside the housing. The bearing is lubricated, sealed and mounted inside the housing, which is then internally greased and sealed. This creates three layers (“three barriers”) of protection for the bearing during operation: The integral bearing seals keep the lubricant in and contaminants out of the bearing cavity; the PosiTrac Plus seals in the housing protect against extremely fine contaminants and eliminate any
need for expensive auxiliary (such as taconite) seals; and the grease packed into the housing on both sides of the sealed bearing complete the protection. Users can realize increased bearing reliability and service life and reduced lubricant consumption, environmental impact, maintenance costs and unplanned downtime. Contact SKF USA Inc., 890 Forty Foot Rd., P.O. Box 352, Lansdale, PA 19446. Call 800-4404SKF (toll free), e-mail skfusainfo@skf.com or visit www.skfusa.com. SKF is a leading global supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services, which include technical support, maintenance and reliability services, engineering consulting and training. SKF is represented in more than 130 countries and has around 15,000 distributor locations worldwide.
