A deceptive company is once again sending emails to Culpeper businesses about winning and purchasing fake “Best of” awards.

This company has no ties or authorization from Culpeper Times to reach out to or sell plaques to area businesses.

This company is from out of state and continues to solicit our community with fake awards not associated with a real contest.

What is Be A Culpeper Local?

Be A Culpeper Local is Culpeper’s shop local program and is a shining voice for small businesses. Be A Culpeper Local highlights Culpeper businesses through marketing and events while educating the community on the impact shopping locally has on our economy.

A part of the county’s Department of Economic Development, Be A Culpeper Local provides small businesses with classes, workshops, and small business resources, as well as opportunities for free marketing.

Introduced in August 2022, Be A Culpeper Local Week is an annual event that celebrates Culpeper businesses with a week of fun for both residents and businesses. Beginning in April 2023, the Culpeper County Conference is an annual free small business summit, providing a half day of workshops and a launch panel featuring Culpeper business owners. Launched in February

2024, the new Be A Culpeper Local newsletter provides businesses and entrepreneurs with information on upcoming events, resources through the Small Business Development Center, and shares a small business spotlight, featuring a new business each month.
