Dec. 14 at the Town Council’s last meeting for 2015, thanked town staff members for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
DiRocco provided a laundry list of accomplishments by the town government this year, including: • Managing more than 30 infrastructure

projects. • Installing millions of dollars’ worth of sidewalk projects. • Maintaining a strong sanitation program. • Re-lining more than 3,000 feet of water and sewer lines. • Managing about 100 residential-redevelopment projects. • Fielding the first applications under the town’s new Maple Avenue Commercial (MAC) zoning classification. • Offering residents information on solarenergy programs. • Continuing the installation of a new financial-software system. • Maintaining the town’s AAA bond rating and issuing bonds at an average rate of 2.16 percent. • Instituting a new health-care insurance program for employees that helped stabilize costs. • Keeping information-technology problems to a minimum. • Keeping local residents safe and having a police presence on highly trafficked streets. • Holding a “fabulous” 125th birthday celebration for the town in February and hosting a related Vienna Evening in White event in September. • Starting “Sundays on Church” events to promote Church Street businesses. • Beginning renovations to the Vienna Community Center, which will include a fullsized gymnasium. • Expanding the town’s community garden.
