Households who are notified of their eligibility, but who do not want their children to receive free meals, must contact the school. SNAP and TANF households must complete an application if they are not notified in writing of their automatic eligibility within the first 10 days of the new school year.

ogan Jimenez started training as a contortionist at age 12, and he went on to perform other popular acts, including fire eating, magic, balance acts and knife throwing, with acclaimed companies such as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and the World of Wonders. For the past several years, Logan has wowed crowds across the country with his dangerous stunt show, with the human blockhead, machete walking and more. This year, he’s bringing a new show to the Prince William County Fair’s Kid Zone: Big Bubbles. Logan decided the stunt show needed a different kind of stunt that provides stress relief for the audience. He immediately started practicing a bubble act, and the bubble act was so popular he decided to create an entire show that revolves around giant bubbles.

s a 4-year-old pre-schooler, Dave Martin’s parents took him to see “Tommy Steiner’s Rodeo” at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Arena in Harrisburg, Pa. When the rodeo bug bit the lad, it bit hard. All through school, Martin was possessed by rodeo. While other boys were thinking about Boy Scouts, baseball or girls, he was thinking about Brahma bulls and bucking horses. At 16, Martin began a 10-year career as a rodeo contestant, competing in bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, as well as his favorite event, bull riding. — Submitted

‘Dinkie’ a lifelong part of fair staff
D
avid “Dinkie” Muse has been involved with the fair in some capacity since he was a child and, these days, he is the go-to guy. Muse takes care of the grass — “his pride and joy,” said Diane Burke, director of business operations at the fair. Muse is one of only two fulltime employees who run the events during the off season and get things ready for a great fair experience every year. “If we need anything, we always call Dinkie,” said Burke. “He does the most and gets the least amount of credit, without him this fair wouldn’t happen.”

Jurassic Kingdom
urassic Kingdom returns for a fourth year in a row. The interactive dinosaur show has grown over the years and continues to put smiles on the faces of fair goers young and old. As visitors watch, a host takes everyone back to prehistoric times to see and learn firsthand what life was like thousands of years ago. They’ll see fossils, learn what it would have been like to see a dinosaur hatch from an egg, and see everything from juvenile dinos to a grown 13-foottall, life-size, moving, walking and growling Tyrannosaurus Rex. Each year’s show is different.
