Broxbourne train station, which takes you to London Liverpool Street, is a 10 minute drive, short bus ride or a pleasant half hour walk through River Lee Country Park. The site is laid out to give plenty of space around your tent or caravan, and there’s a range of luxury static caravan holiday homes available to purchase. With modern shower facilities, caravan storage, a shop and attractive landscaping, Lee Valley Caravan Park makes a perfect base for your short break or holiday home.

By car: From the A10 take the Hoddesdon turn off, then at the second roundabout turn left signposted Dobbs Weir. Lee Valley Caravan Park is on the right within 1 mile. By bus: The 320 runs between Hoddesdon and Broxbourne and stops on Dobbs Weir Road. By train: The nearest rail station is Broxbourne (1 miles).

Why not take a short break in the best of both worlds? Lee Valley Campsite is just that; a brilliant base for exploring the countryside and handy for central London too. The 1,000 acre River Lee Country Park is on the doorstep, with its traffic-free cycling and walking trails, boating, rare wildlife and even white water rafting, and Epping Forest with its mountain bike tracks is also close by.

If you’re looking to discover the sights and sounds of the big city, from here you can be right at the heart of London in less than 40 minutes via bus and Underground. And to make things easy, London travel cards are for sale in the campsite shop. The site’s a perfect spot for tents and caravans, or you can choose to stay in a cosy ‘cocoon’ or family cabin.

By car: Situated on the A112 between Chingford and Waltham Abbey to the South of the M25. Leave M25 at junction 26 and follow signs. By bus: 215 from Walthamstow Central Underground Station on the Victoria Line, 379 & 505 from Chingford Rail Station. By train: The nearest rail station is Chingford. By tube: The nearest Underground station is Walthamstow Central on the Victoria Line.

Lee Valley Camping and Caravan Park A peaceful site that puts you in easy reach of both central London and the many attractions of Lee Valley Regional Park… Oxford Street, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye - from Lee Valley Camping and Caravan Park you can be taking in all the iconic sights of London in less than an hour. On the other hand, you can be deep into the 1,000 acre River Lee Country Park or Epping Forest in a matter of minutes. There are also horse riding and ice centres nearby. The overall complex includes an 18-hole golf course, Odeon cinema and an athletics centre – in other words, you won’t be stuck for things to do! You’ll also find the site has excellent facilities, a shop where you can buy travel cards and a fun adventure playground.

By car: Leave the M25 at junction 25, follow signs for central London. At the first set of traffic lights turn left signposted to Freezywater (A1055). Continue straight along this road for approximately 6 miles (10kms). Follow signs for Lee Valley Leisure Complex. After roundabout with flags, turn left at second set of lights on to complex. The campsite can be found to the rear. By bus: The W8 connects to Edmonton Green Rail Station. By train: The nearest rail stations are Ponders End and Edmonton Green on the Liverpool Street Line. By tube: The nearest Underground station is Tottenham Hale on the Victoria Line.

WaterWorks Campsite The WaterWorks Nature Reserve and upcoming campsite is just a 15 minute stroll from the amazing Olympic Park‌ The plan is to transform the current golf centre into a purpose-designed event campsite, giving you an affordable place to lay your head right on the doorstep of the Olympic Park. You’ll be within easy reach of the sites and attractions of central London, with the West End around a 40 minute bus ride away. The site will be in the capable hands of The Camping and Caravanning Club but open to all, with 320 pitches, full state-of-the-art camping facilities and on-site catering. So, from its opening on 20 July 2012, WaterWorks Campsite is sure to be an amazing place to stay!

YHA London Lee Valley YHA London Lee Valley in Cheshunt: perfect for families and groups of friends… The YHA (Youth Hostel Association) has a long history of providing affordable accommodation in special places, and YHA London Lee Valley is just such a location. Six Scandinavian-style lodges offer en suite rooms in twin, double and family formats. You’ll find Sky TV laid on, plus a licensed restaurant, comfy lounges, laundry, internet access and bike hire. And if you’re planning a family get-together, conference or private use of the facilities can be booked in advance. YHA London Lee Valley is in the River Lee Country Park, so as far as bird and wildlife watching, walking, cycling, fishing, and generally enjoying wide open spaces are concerned, you’re in the perfect spot. You’ll also find swimming and leisure facilities, boat hire, a multi-activity centre, farm attraction and orienteering course all nearby. And don’t forget that all the attractions of central London are just a 20 minute train ride away.

Lee Valley Boat Centre Riverside Chalets Looking for a peaceful spot to get away from it all? These chalets really are on a quiet backwater! Mill Stream is a tributary of the River Lee, and that’s where you’ll discover the haven of these Riverside Chalets. Perfect for walkers, wildlife watchers, golfers, cyclists, fishing fans and those who like to mess about in boats, the chalets provide great value basic accommodation. You can hire your own boat or canoe at the centre, or cruise aboard the ‘Lady of Lee Valley’ passenger boat and tour the placid River Lee. You’re also ideally located for a trip into London, or if you’re looking to chill out, there are some great riverside pubs too! All chalets are equipped with a microwave and hob, eating and cooking utensils, fridge, colour TV, shower and toilet, plus heating should you need it. Bedding is provided too.

Everyone’s idea of For nature lovers With the River Lee, numerous lakes, flood meadows and diverse habitats, Lee Valley is home to an astonishing variety of wildlife. You can discover everything from otters to bitterns, grass snakes to damselflies at many different sites. At the northern end of the valley, Amwell Nature Reserve is a nationally important bird habitat. Rye Meads’ wetlands near Hoddesdon attracts vast numbers of various bird species, and you can also take advantage of excellent hide and educational facilities here.

For families A short break in the Lee Valley has everything you need to keep the whole family happy! Younger kids in particular will love Lee Valley Park Farms, where you can make friends with rare breed sheep, cows and pigs, cuddle giant fluffy rabbits and say hello to a charming family of meerkats. For older children, activities such as canoeing at Lee Valley Boat Centre, disc golf, ice skating, horse riding and more are all well catered for in and around the Lee Valley. The natural play area near Cheshunt Rail Station is also a brilliant option, where kids can play imaginatively for hours in a specially created play environment. And what about the parents? With plenty of sport opportunities, quiet walking and bike trails, heritage sites, restful spaces (and the odd riverside pub), there’s every opportunity to be as active or chilled as the fancy takes you!

Take a stroll in Myddelton House Gardens or Waltham Abbey Gardens and Cornmill Meadows Dragonfly Sanctuary, where history, flora and fauna mingle in fascinating ways. Even in the inner city, the Lee Valley delivers natural wonders – Bow Creek, East India Dock Basin and the WaterWorks Nature Reserve near Leyton are true wildlife havens, all just a short bus ride from the middle of London.

For outdoor activities For so many events and sport throughout the year Whether you’re after some gentle exercise, adventure or a serious workout, the Lee Valley has all the options. Throughout the area you’ll find miles of footpaths and bike routes – you can stroll a couple of miles or cover all the ground from inner London to Ware. It’s up to you! Daredevils should head for Lee Valley White Water Centre at Waltham Cross. The only London 2012 venue to open to the public before the Games, this is where you can tackle the rapids in a white water raft. Less frantic boating can be found at Lee Valley Boat Centre, where you can hire canoes, rowing boats and electric powered craft. Herts Young Mariners Base in Cheshunt offers tuition in activities such as canoeing, sailing, climbing and even caving. Or how about something really different? Try your hand at Disc Golf, a growing (and addictive!) sport that’s like golf, but with Frisbees!
