where the story begin

I found something that I am passionate about which is designning the space since I was in Standard 4, and decided want to be an Interior Designer in Form 3. I am keeping tremendously interested in it until I came to MIA to start the journey of exploring the art. There were many new challenges along the path, and I had been becoming more stronger and stronger after overcoming all the difficulties on the way. During the Foundation, I realised the importance of grounding the design elements and principles in our mind for creating the better artworks. I like drawing since I was a kid, foundation course enabled me to develop my drawing skills by trying various type of media to do the artworks such as color pencils, soft pastel, pencils, charcoal and so on.

My family members always giving me the power of moving forwards and their love always inspiring me in doing artworks.

Foundation

I applied the composition of the painting into the art gallery interior by using autonomous interior which is assembled interior. It contains a series of interconnected objects. The idea is for attention to be drawn away from the qualities of the building and for the focus to be upon the elements displayed within the space. The installation is designed to be independent from the form and structure of the existing space.

Appreciating the historical artist painting by studying the proportional form system from their painting. By studying the composition and slowly into details, I performed and manipulated the design elemants and principles into the models by improving my understanding about it from the first model to the final model. Besides that, I explored the skills and techniques to make the model and finally had been enhanced by doing lot of experimental models.

Residential Project: Vacation House

Evaluating the modern tropical design style by studying the tropical elements and then applying them in the interior space. I learnt to draw perspectives manually by hand with the grid lines. The realism and lifelike imagery of perspectives allow the client to understand the finished product better and may help to sell the design. A new experience for me to use the color markers for rendering the perspectives instead of using the coloring media that I have been familiar with. B

I travelled to Penang old street and the Ipoh Museum for collecting all the informations about the Straits Eclectic Style Shophouses to further design the guest house. I had learned a lot of new things and deepen myself with the knowledges of the Malaysia’s history and culture. Early Straits Eclectic Style Shophouses (1890-1920’s) Using the shophouses as the theme because these buildings are important for the understanding of the city’s social environment, and significant period of the city’s growth. The most significant influence introduced by the Chinese traders was their art and architecture. The architectural influences of the Chinese architectural led to a style called Straits Eclectic that instigated from the 15th century to mid-20th century. The impact was mostly in urban areas in a form of shophouses and terrace houses. The architecture adapted to the tropical climate has combination influence of Malay and European architecture. Kuala Lumpur had became a Chinese tin mining area and it grew rapidly so the Chinese architecture style had dominated with small scaled family enterprises operated at shophouses.

The first project that I learned about design concept. I chose architecture movement which is Bauhaus as my design concept because I looked into my clients who are art and design students. Bauhaus is important to affect the art and design education from the past until now. By the time, I studied the philosophy of Mies Van der Rohe, applied it into my design to support the form and functionality of my design.

I had built a lots of experimental models to test the form and function of the display structure.

Jamie’s Italian is inspired by Jamie’s passion for the Italian way of life, so I studied the origination of Jamie’s Italian and the eating habit of an Italian. I found the important of a street market towards the Italian in the past after doing some researches. After that, I made a fusion of design between Jamie’s Italian and Street Italian Market. “ There’s nothing more than romantic than Italian food. ” - Elisha Cuthbert

Commercial Project: 4 leaves clover cafe

(16, jalan ss15/4D subang jaya)

By keeping the effort to improve my 3D modelling skills from last semester, I did a good job for 3D perspectives in this project. Manager and supervisor praised my drawings and encouraged me to keep the effort up. Low budget does not mean the low quality of design. Using the creativity to make the limitation to become the strengths, so that I thought about the solutions by using alternative materials. Next, I had practiced my sketching skills by sketching the built-in furniture and done the job on material specification insteading of drawing the construction details on Autocad due to the rental issues from the clients. I had learnt in the process of managing the design project such as I had to deal with suppliers to request the quotation and also to prepare the PO. Furthermore, I also dealed with clients on consulting them for choosing the furnitures. It was my first project to make it in real.

As a result, I always refered to the site supervisor for futher learning all of these.

COMMERCIAL Project: PROPERTY DEVELOPER OFFICE

My first time to work in a team to do the design works which was a big challenge for us. We had to justify and clarify everyone’s ideas and to combine all of them in the project. We had learnt how to communicate and interact with others to make unanimous decision during the project. Team work is a good chance for us to learn new things from others, by the time to avoid ourselves from doing the same mistakes as the others.

ACHIEVEMENT Beautify My Home Competition Raya TV Show “Seribu Satu Idea”

Competition

“ There is nothing more importance than a good, safe, secure home. ” – Rosalynn Carter

Beautify my home (rotary club of pudu)

Life at home is about creating space for everyday life as it happens. For all the things you want to do. For the things you love. And for everyone that you spend your time with. Because when the home works for the way you live, life simply becomes better. As a result, our goal for this project was to create a lovely home for the old folks. I felt proud to join this competition as it enabled me to move forwards to my dream which is create a better living environment for the people in need. We took the competition as a service more than taking it as a competition. This was a good experience for us to carry out all the works by our own without the helping from the others.

Raya TV Show We were given the RM2000 budget to buy all the display items from Ikea and then we went to a Malay Kampong to help a family to decorate the pangkin for the Hari Raya that was coming soon. By the time, we cooperated with the Malay actors in filming the show. This was a good experience for us to become a “little actor” which we might not have the second chance to be and to join the whole process of filming. We were trained from acting some of the action and expression which was quite challenged us as we do not the acting talent but at last we did it. We also had the opportunity to have the Raya meal with all the workers and the family. As a result, I had further understood their culture and tradition to celebrate the important festival and we achieved “Satu Malaysia” throughout the event.
