SUNDAY OPENING COVID-19 At a meeting of Belfast City Council’s City Growth and Regeneration Committee on 13 January 2021, councillors agreed to support the extension of Sunday opening hours (in line with Northern Ireland Executive guidance) on a temporary basis as part of efforts to manage shopper volume and support social distancing. To this end, it has been agreed that Belfast City Council will not carry out enforcement action against large retail shops (in excess of 280m²), should they choose to open or deliver on a Sunday from 10am onwards (until 6pm). This will apply to all retail units across the City. This arrangement is temporary and will be in place with immediate effect, enabling retailers to open from Sunday 17 January 2021 and on those Sundays where shops are allowed to open until 5 April 2021. There is no change to smaller retail shops (under 280m²), which can continue to trade up to 24 hours. Yours sincerely
