I have been planting corn for over forty years and this was my first year planting Legend Seeds corn, so I was a little skeptical. When I started harvesting this field, I was very impressed with how good my other corn brand was yielding and I would have to dump my hopper every round. But when I started picking the Legend Seeds corn, I was only able to make half a round and had to dump the hopper. Now I can tell you without even using a yield monitor if you have to dump halfway around the field, that’s some damn good corn! Al Wollak - Rice, MN

CORN TECHNOLOGIES
GENSSRIB - SmartStax® RIB Complete® Corn Blend corn has 5% refuge corn seed in every bag. That means no calculating or planting a separate structured refuge ever again. No more separate, structured refuge. Simple and convenient. Fence row-to-fence row planting, thanks to single-bag solution. 95/5 blend – plant the most traited acres. Broadest spectrum of above- and below-ground insect protection on traited acres.
VT3PRIB - Genuity® VT Triple PRO® RIB Complete® Corn Blend offers farmers dual modesof-action for protection against above-ground insects, a single mode-of-action for corn rootworm protection and herbicide tolerance. The single-bag is a blend of 90% insectprotected and 10% refuge seed, contains herbicide tolerance, a single mode of action for corn rootworm control and dual modes of action for above-ground insect protection - including corn earworm, fall armyworm and European and Southwestern corn borer. It is a great fit in geographies experiencing low to moderate rootworm pressure.
VIP3220 E-Z Refuge - The Agrisure Viptera® 3220 E-Z Refuge® trait stack offers corn growers an integrated refuge with dual modes of action against above-ground corn insects, including corn borer, reducing mold and mycotoxin contamination by limiting insect feeding damage, protecting the quality of grain. It is ideal for areas where corn rootworm management is not a key need.
3010A - The Agrisure Artesian® 3010A trait stack brings together a hybrid that optimizes the conversion of water to grain, providing improved yield consistency, with control of corn borer and tolerance to both glyphosate and glufosinate herbicides.
VIP3110 - The Agrisure Viptera® 3110 trait stack protects the quality of grain by controlling ear-feeding corn insects, reducing mycotoxin contamination by limiting ear-feeding insect damage. Ideal for areas where corn rootworm management is not a key focus. VT2PRIB - VT Double PRO® RIB Complete® Corn Blend corn blend is a blend of 95% B.t. seed and 5% non-B.t. seed. You get all the benefits of VT Double PRO® Corn Blend, plus the convenience of 5% non-B.t. seed, interspersed in every bag. VT Double PRO® RIB Complete® Corn Blend corn provides the broadest spectrum of above ground insect protection, two modes of action against corn earworm, and 5% non-B.t seed built right in, the lowest in the Corn-Growing Area. It also contains the first double-stacked trait with dual modes of action for above ground insects and maximum protection against corn earworm.
RR - Roundup Ready® Corn 2 contains in-plant tolerance to Roundup® brand herbicides, enabling growers to spray Roundup® brands over the top, from planting through the V8 stage or 30-inch corn height, with excellent crop safety and no yield reduction. Compared to popular conventional corn programs, the Roundup Ready® Corn 2 system costs less, while allowing hybrids to reach their maximum yield potential. While the U.S. regulatory agencies have given full approval to Roundup Ready® Corn 2 for commerce in the U.S. for marketing and consumption as food, food ingredients and feed for livestock, certain regulatory approvals are pending in certain export markets.
3000GT - The Agrisure® 3000GT trait stack offers better control of corn borer and corn rootworm with tolerance to both glyphosate and glufosinate herbicides.
3011A - The Agrisure Artesian® 3011A trait stack combines a hybrid that converts water to grain more efficiently than other hybrids, providing improved yield consistency, with traits that help control corn borer and corn rootworm, and offer herbicide flexibility.
GTCBLL - The Agrisure® 3010 trait stack provides corn borer control with both glyphosate and glufosinate tolerance.
DC 5222 E-Z Refuge - The Agrisure Duracade® 5222 E-Z Refuge® trait stack provides proven corn pest control with an integrated refuge. Offering dual modes of action against corn rootworm, corn borer and ear-feeding corn insects, Agrisure Duracade 5222 E-Z Refuge features the Agrisure Viptera® trait for more control of more damaging aboveground corn insects, and the Agrisure Duracade trait, a unique mode of action that helps control corn rootworm differently than other traits on the market.
3122 E-Z Refuge - The Agrisure® 3122 E-Z Refuge® trait stack offers the convenience of an integrated refuge featuring two modes of action against corn borer and corn rootworm, as well as control of ear-feeding corn insects.
RATING SCALE: 1-10; 1 = Poor, 5 = Average, 10 = Excellent
GT - The Agrisure® GT trait provides excellent tolerance to in-crop applications of glyphosatebased herbicides. This hybrid is an excellent option for refuge acres in a structured refuge operation.
GTA - The Agrisure Artesian® GTA trait stack combines a hybrid that optimizes the conversion of water to grain and provides improved yield consistency with tolerance to in-crop applications of glyphosate-based herbicides.

Early nodulation creates more secondary roots leading to more potential nodulation sites and increased nutrient uptake. Preside® CL also includes Take Off® technology to accelerate root growth and nutrient acquisition for healthier plants. The combination improves emergence, stand establishment, and utilizes increase nitrogen levels.
23 | legendseeds.net
QuickRoots® is a microbial seed inoculant that increases nutrient use efficiency. Two microbes work to release phosphorus bound in the soil, which increases root volume along with nitrogen and potassium uptake. This in turn, supports root and shoot growth for an overall healthier and more robust plant, leading to increased yield potential.

SOYBEAN TECHNOLOGIES
XTEND - Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® Soybeans is the industry’s first biotech-stacked soybean trait with both dicamba and glyphosate herbicide tolerance. Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® is built on the high yielding Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybean technology.
GENRR2Y - Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans were developed through extensive gene mapping that identified specific DNA regions in soybeans that have a positive impact on yield. Using advanced insertion and selection technologies, the Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® gene is situated in one of these high-yield DNA regions to deliver high yield potential. Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybean seed and any product of a Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybean seed or crop can only be exported to, or used, processed or sold in countries where all necessary regulatory approvals have been granted. It is a violation of national and international law to move material containing biotech traits across boundaries into nations where import is not permitted.
LL - LibertyLink® soybeans with Liberty® herbicide is the most reliable management solution for weeds resistant to glyphosate and multiple herbicide classes. LibertyLink soybean varieties combine elite genetics and excellent crop safety with built-in tolerance to the powerful, postemergence weed control of Liberty. High-yielding LibertyLink soybean varieties are available in a range of maturities. Liberty herbicide, applied over the top of LibertyLink soybean varieties, provides powerful control of broadleaf and grass weeds, including weeds resistant to glyphosate and multiple herbicide classes.

WHAT TYPE OF SUNFLOWER IS RIGHT FOR YOUR OPERATION? Sunflowers are a unique crop that give growers the opportunity to sell in several different markets. But what hybrid is right for your operation? Whether it is NuSun®, high oleic, conoil, or confections, Nuseed has a hybrid that is made to perform in your field.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS SPECIALTY TRAITS are important to consider when planning for your in-season weed control options and crop rotations. Nuseed offers hybrids with Clearfield ® or ExpressSun® herbicide traits as well as resistance to multiple races of downy mildew (DMR). MARKETS may be one of the most important factors in determining what hybrid is right for your farm. Whether it be a NuSun® or a high oleic hybrid for the crush or bird food market; a conoil hybrid for the dehull market; or a confection hybrid for the in-shell market, Nuseed has a hybrid that will perform. ROOT/STALK RATINGS help a grower to understand the strength of a hybrid’s roots and stalks throughout the growing season. Late season plant health can also be a factor in stalk strength. We provide hybrids that have been thoroughly tested to stand tall through the harshest of environments. OIL CONTENT can be an important factor when choosing a sunflower hybrid depending on which market the sunflowers are being sold into. The oil crush market wants a higher oil content, but a hybrid being sold into the dehull market is less concerned. TEST WEIGHT in sunflowers can be important depending on which processor is taking the seed. Most bird food markets, for example, want a higher test weight.

HIGH OLEIC
HIGH OLEIC SEED
N4HE115
High oleic seed was developed through traditional breeding methods to deliver much higher levels of monounsaturated fats (oleic content) than traditional oil sunflower seeds. High oleic sunflower oil has a longer, more stable shelf-life, neutral taste profile, and heart healthy benefits that make it attractive for commercial cooking applications. A typical fatty acid ratio for high oleic oil is 85% oleic acid, 8% linoleic acid and 7% combined saturates with some hybrids producing as much as 90% oleic acid.

NUSUN
NUSUN® SEED
Talon
The NuSun® sunflower oil profile was developed by the U.S. National Sunflower Association, in coordination with the USDA, to create an oil essential for the food industry. NuSun oil has a naturally high smoke point and does not require trans-fat creating hydrogenation to remain stable at high temperatures. It has a good shelf life and neutral taste profile making it an excellent choice for frying oil. A typical fatty acid ratio is 65% oleic acid, 26% linoleic acid and 9% combined saturates.

CONOIL
CONOIL SEED The conoil is the most versatile of the sunflower seed types and offers opportunities across multiple markets including kernel, oil and confection. This seed is generally higher in oil content than confection seeds and realizes a greater yield. Most Conoil production is sold into the kernel market where the seeds are mechanically dehulled by a processor. This is more easily accomplished with conoil seeds as the shell is loosely attached to the meat and readily separates. The largest consumption of conoil seed comes from wholesalers, bakeries and sunbutter manufacturers.
N5LM307 The Clearfield® Production System for sunflowers provides growers with new technology that delivers broad-spectrum residual grass and broadleaf weed control, including ACCase resistant weeds. The Clearfield system combines high-yielding sunflower hybrids from leading seed companies with Beyond® herbicide for superior postemergence weed control in no-till, minimum or conventionaltillage systems. To preserve the long-term efficacy of the Clearfield sunflower technology, certain stewardship practices must be followed. Clearfield sunflower producers are asked to help protect and prolong the usefulness of this technology by following specific requirements and recommendations to help prevent weed resistance.
• • • • •
erbicide-tolerant sunflower hybrids with tolerance to Express® H SG herbicide. This revolutionary production system offers: Broad-spectrum control or suppression of broadleaf weeds A simplified approach to weed control in sunflowers Improved yield potential through enhanced weed control A cost-effective crop management solution Complete re-cropping flexibility the following year
Developed through traditional plant breeding methods Pioneer and DuPont researchers brought this tolerance trait to market without the use of genetic modification. Sunflowers with the DuPont™ ExpressSun® trait will be grown, harvested and used just like any traditional sunflower seed. NuSun® sunflower oil is stable without partial hydrogenation. It outshines other oils for commercial use by providing optimal healthy benefits, great taste, and superior performance, while remaining trans fat free. NuSun oil is the ‘new’ mid-oleic sunflower oil. It is lower in saturated fat (less than 10%) than linoleic sunflower oil and has higher oleic levels (55-75%) with the remainder being linoleic (15-35%). Seed Treatment Statement: All Nuseed hybrids are treated with the latest fungicide and insecticide seed treatment technology to help protect your seed investment.

CONFECTION
CONFECTION SEED
Panther DMR
In the U.S., confection sunflower production is divided into three markets by the size of the seed grown. The largest of the seeds are sold in the shell. These are the familiar snacking seeds in a heavy black shell with a characteristic white stripe. They are generally over half an inch in length with half their weight coming from the kernel. The medium-sized seeds are mechanically hulled by the processor and sold into the kernel market. They can be sold raw, roasted as a snack or used as an ingredient. The smallest of the sunflower seeds are used in the bird feed and pet food market.

LSS 410
Sorghum Sudangrass
LSS 410 has an outstanding forage production feature, and is sweet and palatable. It has finer stalks, fast emergence, good early vigor and quick re-growth. For maximum tonnage and palatability cut in the pre-boot stage. Cut approximately six inches from the ground for quick re-growth. It is disease resistant to Downy Mildew and other foliar diseases. Plant Height: 6-8 feet Usage: Grazing and haying
LSS 430 BMR
LSS 430 BMR sorghum sudangrass can be used for direct grazing, haying and haylage. It is a premium hybrid that has the BMR characteristics which significantly increases digestibility and palatability. The stems feel and look softer and will appear more limber with distinct brownish color. Increased gains can be expected when animals are fed equal quantities compared to other forages. This hybrid has long narrow leaves, excellent standability and re-growth capabilities. Disease and drought performance are very good and green leaf retention at harvest is excellent. Plant Height: 6-8 feet Usage: Grazing and Haying and Haylage
43 | legendseeds.net
Sorghum Sudangrass
LFS 501
Forage Sorghum
LFS 501 offers farmers and stockmen many options. It can be used for summer grazing or haying or it can be left for winter grazing. LFS 501 produces very sweet forage when left to maturity. Emergence is good in cool soils and is predominately sterile if not pollinated from an outside source. LFS 501 is much sweeter and softer stalked than sudangrass hybrids. Haying Practices: Sugar content reaches its peak at boot stage to heading. Swathing at this point achieves high tonnage of leafy forage with extremely sweet and soft stalks.
LFS 901 BMR
Forage Sorghum
LFS 901 BMR is a dual purpose forage used for silage, grazing or green chopping. LFS 901 BMR is a brown midrib that has a very sweet stem with excellent green leaf retention. The brown midrib characteristic increases digestibility. It has excellent foliar disease resistance and maintains a healthy canopy until harvest. This hybrid has an exceptional level of sugars in the stem thus making palatability very high. These sugars also provide additional energy and nutrition. Large heads of tannin-free grain add to the nutrition level of silage produced. It is approximately 85 days to bloom. This hybrid is designed to be a one-time harvest hybrid; however it does have good re-growth capabilities which can be utilized for fall grazing after it has been cut for silage. Yield is good.
PLANTING TIPS
LFS 701 BMR
Forage Sorghum
LFS 701 BMR is a full season brown midrib forage sorghum for direct pasture, silage or hay usage. It has good re-growth after pasturing. This is a cattleman’s premier sorghum hybrid. It has exceptional sweetness plus it is a brown midrib. LFS 701 BMR has larger stems than sorghum sudangrass hybrids, resulting in excellent resistance to lodging. It also retains its large dark green leaves throughout the growing season. It is partially sterile, thereby not producing significant amounts of grain. This causes a substantial build-up of non-structural carbohydrates (sugars) in the stem and leaves. The entire plant is more palatable to cattle than many other conventional hybrids. Significant animal gain should be seen over conventional sorghum.
All forage and grain sorghums are treated with:
Concep® III seed safener protects sorghum crops from herbicide injury and allows pre-emergence applications of herbicides containing S-metolachlor for ultimate grass and broadleaf weed control. Introduced in 1979, Concep III was the first proven seed safener marketed for sorghum, controlling the phytotoxic effects of S-metolachlor herbicide for long-lasting weed control.
Advantages: • Unique seed safener for sorghum • Protects grain and forage sorghum from herbicide injury • Allows the use of Dual® and Bicep® brand herbicides for pre-emergent grass and broadleaf weed control.
GRAIN SORGHUM (MILO) • Arid climate: 70,000-90,000 dropped plants per acre • Irrigated setting: 90,000-110,000 dropped plants per acre • Approximately 5-6.4 pounds per acre, using an average of 14,000 seeds per pound SORGHUM SUDANGRASS & FORAGE SORGHUM Grazing, Haylage or Green Chop Plant in 20-30” rows (reduces trampling from cattle) and seed at 15-18# per acre Haying Drill in 6-10” rows and seed at 20-25# per acre

SILAGE CORN
LEAFY SILAGE HYBRIDS Le a f y Silage varieties containing the Leafy genetics have eight or more leaves above the ear. The leaves above the ear contain less lignin than those below the ear. A dual-purpose hybrid is often significantly taller than a grain hybrid, but the ear placement sets our Leafy silage hybrids apart in terms of feed quality and digestibility. Leafy silage hybrids have 5-7% more starch digestibility than dual-purpose or grain hybrids. Leafy hybrids were discovered and later commercialized in 1985 by world-renowned silage researcher, Dr. Francis Glenn. Today’s Leafy hybrids also contain traits, making them a great option for corn-on-corn situations often faced by dairy and livestock producers. In addition to these eight silage hybrids, we offer a complete lineup of dual-purpose hybrids, clearly marked in the corn products section with the dual-purpose image shown.

LEGEND NEXT GENERATION HYBRIDS Le a f y & Flour y Legend Seeds was extremely proud to be the first seed company to bring you Dr.
NEW
Francis Glenn’s next advancement in silage hybrid genetics in 2014. While using a simple research technique and biting the kernels to test for harness and texture, Dr. Glenn discovered that the interior of the kernel in a recessive “floury” kernel is made entirely of white flour-type starch. The recessive “floury” genetics will express as up to 25% of the kernels on each ear, they are extremely soft and easily digestible. Because of this discovery and over a decade of breeding and research, Legend Next Generation hybrids offer dairy and livestock producers a quick, 30-day ensiling period and 10-12% more starch digestibly than a dual-purpose or BMR hybrid. The addition of the Floury genetics to the already available Leafy silage hybrids created a dream hybrid for silage situations: Leafy and Floury!

Vivant Hybrid Brassica Vivant Hybrid Brassica is a quick-growing brassica (upright and spreading cool-season annual) with very little bulb development. Vivant is best suited for multiple grazing cycle situations because of its excellent regrowth. It can be used to extend the grazing season in the fall or planted alongside warm season annuals for multiple grazings in the summer. With proper management (first grazing in 40-45 days AND subsequent grazing cycles every 25 - 30 days when grazed no less than 4”), it has the potential to yield over 5 tons of dry matter an acre. • Known for its quick regrowth, even under close grazing • Different than turnips, all the energy of the plant is contained in the leaves • High digestibility - suitable for dairy, beef and sheep • When fed, brassicas need to be combined with other forages (no more than 1/3 of the total animal diet) to prevent potential livestock disorders
