LOCALLY PROVEN FOR YOUR FARM SINCE 1990! Headquarters
Legend Seeds’ Knowledge Plots™ are our educational plots designed to showcase our products, new technologies, seed treatments, and agronomic practices. These plots allow growers to have a local, hands-on experience with products and see various production practices. Step into the know, talk to your local Legend Seeds dealer or representative today about attending a Knowledge Plot event near you or scheduling a private tour.
Knowledge Plot
L.E.A.P. Plot
Legend Elite Advancement Project (L.E.A.P.) is our proprietary, in-house research program. It validates data on hybrid genetic performance over time and agronomic placement. Our L.E.A.P. plots are used for product evaluation, selection, and positioning on the right soil type and in the right geography to consistently deliver high value products to growers. Since 2014, we’ve conducted 89,974 replicated corn trials across 78 locations. As a result of our rigorous testing, we advance only the elite hybrids into our line-up, averaging 19 new products per year out of the thousands we tested.
NEW FOR 2021 As a fiercely independent regional seed leader, Legend Seeds prides itself on being the one source for your seed needs. New for 2021, Legend Seeds has expanded its multi-brand strategy to strengthen its portfolio. We offer YOU more choice to ensure you have access to the right products that fit for your farming needs.
NEW BRANDS FOR 2021: In addition to Legend and JSC brand corn hybrids, Legend Seeds will distribute Mustang Seeds and Stine hybrids ranging from 72 through 118 day relative maturities.

What is QuickRoots®? Composed of live microorganisms that colonize the root system, creating an environment that is more favorable for nutrient availability. Benefits of QuickRoots® • Has shown to increase root mass. • Increased root mass allows plant to explore a greater volume of soil mass. • Creates more favorable environments for nutrient availability… especially phosphorus. • Comes pre-treated in the bag to your farm or is offered in a planter hopper-box treatment. • 18 month viability on the seed coat. QuickRoots® is a trademark of Monsanto Technology LLC.
CruiserMaxx® Corn 250 insecticide/fungicide seed treatment, a combination of separately registered products, offers broad-spectrum protection against early-season insects and seedborne and soilborne diseases. CruiserMaxx Corn 250 is an on-seed application of Cruiser 5FS insecticide delivered at the 0.25 mg a.i./seed rate and Maxim Quattro fungicide. Cruiser®, CruiserMaxx® and Maxim® are registered trademarks of a Syngenta Group Company.
The Agrisure® 3000GT trait stack offers control of corn borer and corn rootworm with tolerance to both glyphosate and glufosinate herbicides.
The Agrisure® GT trait provides tolerance to in-crop applications of glyphosate-based herbicides. This hybrid is an excellent option for refuge acres in a structured refuge operation.
The Agrisure® 3010 trait stack provides season-long control of corn borer, as well as herbicide flexibility with both glyphosate and glufosinate tolerance.

Legend Seeds offers six alfalfa choices to support your goals and operation needs. These varieties range from high quality traited alfalfa packages to conventional blend options. HarvXtra™ Alfalfa contains industry leading genetic enhancements that reduce the lignin content and increase forage quality. This allows flexibility to harvest at the regular interval and get very high quality forage or delay harvest to increase yield and get similar quality as a conventional alfalfa at an earlier growth stage. Research shows that cutting HarvXtra 7 to 10 days later than conventional alfalfa provides similar quality. Roundup Ready® Alfalfa What if you could harvest new seeding alfalfa with no herbicide stunting and get dairy quality forage? That is the reality this technology offers - easy weed control management, excellent crop safety, and higherpercentage of pure alfalfa hay.
STEPS TO SUCCESSFUL ALFALFA SEEDING SITE SELECTION:
SOIL FERTILITY AND pH
• Alfalfa does best on well-drained deep soils
• A soil test should be done prior to field preparation to determine the fertility needs
• Avoid hilltops, shallow and highly eroded soils, and fields with low spots where water is known to pool • Following alfalfa in the rotation with newly seeded alfalfa is not advisable due to autotoxicity
SEEDBED PREPARATION • Provide a proper seedbed with firm ground and small clods. Preferably roll the ground before and/or after planting • Good seed–to–soil contact is essential for uniform emergence
SEEDING RATE: • 12-20 lbs. pure live seed (PLS) per acre
• Fertility management ensures good stands and vigorous growth o
Soil pH is extremely important in establishing alfalfa and in high production acres
o
Maintain soil pH between 6.7 and 6.9 since soil nutrients are most available within this range
o
Phosphorus is critical to healthy root development and stand establishment
o
Potassium is needed for good plant growth, high yields and winter hardiness
o
Remember to monitor micronutrients like sulfur, boron and calcium as well

Many silage products boast only one quality of the plant, such as fiber digestibility, grain yield or kernel type. Chances are that the other characteristics of these hybrids were bred for grain. The best silage products have been bred to achieve total plant silage qualities.
Expect more from your silage crop.
LEAFY HYBRIDS Leafy Corn Silage Hybrids are bred to produce a high yield of digestible fiber and starch. Leafy’s extra leaves above the ear (eight or more) increase the leaf area index of the plant, allowing for more sugar production. These sugars are converted to starch in the ear. Leafy hybrids have flex-type ears and the extra leaves help to develop and fill those ears with starch. Leafy silage hybrids have 5-7% more starch digestibility than dual-purpose or grain hybrids. Extra leaves also increase tonnage. A Leafy crop stands taller and fuller than non-Leafy hybrids. Leafy Corn Silage Hybrids must be planted at low populations of 28,000 - 30,000 plants per acre to realize their optimal yield, but because each plant produces more dry matter than a dual-purpose hybrid, you can realize top yields with less seed.
KEY POINTS:
• Strong agronomics • High total plant yield • Long harvest window
• High starch content • Short storage period • High fiber digestibility
• High starch digestibility • Excellent feed quality
FLOURY LEAFY HYBRIDS Floury Leafy Corn Silage Hybrids have a silage specific kernel type that behaves differently in the field, the chopper, the silo and the rumen. They contain a naturally occurring recessive gene called opaque-1. In the farmer’s field, a segregation of kernel type is seen on the ear. Approximately 25% of the kernels on each ear have completely floury interiors. The other 75% of the kernel set is composed of normal Leafy type kernels. All kernels are selected to be large, soft, and slow drying so that they will fracture easily during chopping and cow chewing for maximum starch digestibility. Expect starch to be 10-12% more digestible. Floury Leafy Corn Silage Hybrids must be planted at low populations of 28,000 - 30,000 plants per acre to realize their optimal yield.

FOOD | FEED | FUEL In the United States and other countries across the globe, sorghum grain is primarily used for livestock feed and ethanol production but it is becoming popular in the consumer food industry and other emerging markets. Traditionally, nearly one-third of the U.S. sorghum crop is used for renewable fuel production. In fact, sorghum produces the same amount of ethanol per bushel as comparable feedstocks while using up to one-third less water. Legend Seeds is proud to offer a full lineup of grain sorghum, forage sorghum, and sorghum-sudangrass. Read below to determine which type of sorghum would best fit your operation: GRAIN SORGHUM can take many shapes, sizes, and various colors. Legend Seeds offers three red and one white grain sorghum varieties. Red sorghum is traditionally grown and used in all segments of the sorghum industry while white sorghum is typically made into flour for the food industry. SORGHUM-SUDANGRASS is a cross between sorghum and sudangrass and is typically used for grazing, haying, and haylage. It is a finer stemmed, warm season, annual grass that will regrow after each harvest. Sorghum-sudangrass can grow up to 15 feet tall and typically has small seed heads with leaves that are similar to corn but are shorter and sometimes wider. Varieties with the BMR gene have significantly greater digestibility and palatability. FORAGE SORGHUM typically grows 8-15 feet tall and is most popular for use as silage for feeding livestock. Depending on which species and variety selected, forage sorghum can be used for grazing pasture, hay production, silage, and green-chop.
Talk to your Legend Seeds representative today to determine which sorghum would be best for your operation!
ALL SORGHUM PRODUCTS ARE TREATED WITH Concep® III seed safener protects sorghum crops from herbicide injury and allows pre-emergence applications of herbicides containing S-metolachlor for ultimate grass and broadleaf weed control. Introduced in 1979, Concep® III was the first proven seed safener marketed for sorghum, controlling the phytotoxic effects of S-metolachlor herbicide for long lasting weed control.

WHAT TYPE OF SUNFLOWER IS RIGHT FOR YOUR OPERATION? Sunflowers are a unique crop that give growers the opportunity to sell in several different markets. But what hybrid is right for your operation? Whether it is high oleic, NuSun®, conoil, or confections, Nuseed has locally bred hybrids designed to perform in your field.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS MARKETS may be one of the first factors in determining what hybrid is right for your farm. Whether it be a high oleic or a NuSun® hybrid for the crush or bird food market; a conoil hybrid for the dehull market; or a confection hybrid for the in-shell market, Nuseed has a hybrid to meet your buyer’s specifications. HERBICIDE TOLERANCE is important to consider when planning for your in-season weed control options and crop rotations. Nuseed offers hybrids with Clearfield ® or ExpressSun® herbicide traits. DISEASE resistance, including protection against multiple races of downy mildew, improves late season plant health and product quality. ROOT/STALK RATINGS help a grower to understand the strength of a hybrid’s roots and stalks throughout the growing season. Stalk strength can also be a factor in late season plant health. We provide hybrids that have been thoroughly tested in the United States to stand tall through the harshest of environments. OIL CONTENT can be an important factor when choosing a sunflower hybrid depending on which market the sunflowers are being sold into. The oil crush market wants a higher oil content, but a hybrid being sold into the dehull market is less concerned. TEST WEIGHT in sunflowers can be important depending on which processor is taking the seed. Most bird food markets, for example, want a higher test weight.

HIGH OLEIC SUNFLOWERS High oleic seed was developed through traditional breeding methods to deliver much higher levels of mono-unsaturated fats (oleic content) than traditional oil sunflower seeds. High oleic sunflower oil has a longer, more stable shelf-life, neutral taste profile, and heart healthy benefits that make it attractive for commercial cooking applications. A typical fatty acid ratio for high oleic oil is greater than 82% oleic acid, with some hybrids producing as much as 90% oleic acid.

NUSUN SUNFLOWERS ®
The NuSun® sunflower oil profile was developed by the U.S. National Sunflower Association, in coordination with the USDA, to create an oil essential for the food industry. NuSun® oil has a naturally high smoke point and does not require trans-fat creating hydrogenation to remain stable at high temperatures. It has a good shelf life and neutral taste profile making it an excellent choice for frying oil. A typical fatty acid ratio is 65% oleic acid, 26% linoleic acid and 9% combined saturates.

A conoil sunflower seed is a cross between an oilseed and a confection. Conoils are the most versatile of sunflower seed types and offer opportunities across multiple markets including kernel, oil, and confection. Most production is sold into the kernel market where the seeds are mechanically hulled by a processor. This is more easily accomplished with dehull seeds as the shell is loosely attached to the meat and readily separates. The largest consumption of dehull seed comes from wholesalers, bakeries, and sunbutter manufacturers.

SEED USE RESTRICTION AGREEMENT This Seed Use Restriction Agreement (the “Agreement”) applies to all users (“User(s)”) of the seed (“Seed”) contained in this package. If you purchase the Seed, you agree that you and any person or entity, including employees, representatives, contractors and agents thereof, who plant, grow, cultivate or otherwise use the Seed, will abide by these use restrictions. If you open or cause any person or entity to open a package of Seed, you agree that you accept the terms of this Agreement, and you, your employees, representatives, contractors and agents will abide by these use restrictions. SEED USE AGREEMENT STINE SEED COMPANY (“STINE”) and its suppliers are engaged in the business of developing and supplying for sale various varieties and/or hybrids of Seed. STINE and its suppliers have a substantial investment and expended substantial effort in the development and production of this seed, and in the use of subsequent production of Seed. STINE and its suppliers have existing contractual relationships with other distributors for the sale of seed and expectations of additional contracts for sale of seed from such distributors in the future. The purchase of the Seed includes a limited license to produce a single crop under STINE property rights, including where applicable certain U.S. patents which can be found on the package and seed tags. In consideration of the foregoing, and in consideration of the Seed that User has been sold or otherwise granted the right to use, User hereby acknowledges and agrees that the production from the Seed will be used only for feed or processing, and unless USER has an agreement for such purposes, Seed and plants produced from Seed will not be used or sold for seed, breeding, or any variety or hybrid development or improvement purposes; these restrictions apply to all plants produced from Seed, including without limitation variant and inbred plants and Seed that may be contained in this package or grow from Seed. User acknowledges STINE and its suppliers have a proprietary interest in the use of subsequent production from the Seed, and agrees it would be a violation of this Agreement to allow the subsequent production of the Seed to be used to create any seed variety or seed product from said production. Any export of this Seed or its progeny from the country of purchase is strictly prohibited, except that forage or grain may be exported solely for use in feeding or processing. User agrees and acknowledges that any use of the Seed, which is forbidden by this Agreement will constitute a misappropriation of the property of STINE and its suppliers, and will therefore result in a breach of this Agreement. User agrees that STINE and/or its suppliers may bring an action to recover damages as a result of the breach of this Agreement, along with reasonable attorney fees and costs associated with any action commenced in regard thereto. User further agrees that the exclusive venue for any dispute arising under this Agreement or in connection to any breach thereof shall be in the federal or state courts for Dallas County, Iowa, and hereby irrevocably consents to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. This Agreement shall be governed under the laws of the State of Iowa. User agrees and acknowledges that any use of the Seed, which is forbidden by this Agreement, will damage STINE and its suppliers’ legitimate expectation of future sales of seed, and any use of Seed in violation of this Agreement will constitute an attempt to intentionally injure or destroy STINE and its suppliers’prospective business expectations in future sales of seed. User agrees and acknowledges that any use of Seed from STINE in violation of this Agreement will cause substantial damage to STINE and/or its suppliers, and that if subsequent production of the Seed is used to create a seed variety or seed product, substantial damage to STINE and or its suppliers for all seed varieties or seed products thereby created will be caused. This Agreement shall not limit any other rights, legal or equitable, that STINE and its suppliers have but shall be accumulative. User agrees to only use agricultural herbicide that are expressly labeled for use in conjunction with the Seed and have received government approvals as specified in a product use guide. NOTICE OF REQUIRED ARBITRATION Under the seed laws of several states arbitration, mediation or conciliation is required as a prerequisite to maintaining a legal action based upon the failure of seed to produce as represented. The consumer shall file a complaint along with the required filing fee (where applicable) with the Commissioner/Director/Secretary of Agriculture, Seed Commissioner, or Chief Agricultural Officer within such time as to permit inspection of the crops, plants or trees by the designated agency and the seller from whom the seed was purchased. A copy of the complaint shall be sent to the seller by certified or registered mail or as otherwise provided by state statute. OTHER TERMS & CONDITIONS For sale in the U.S. only. STINE assumes no responsibility for STINE‘s supplier’s, distributor’s or dealer’s verbal and/or written claims, promises, warranties or actions which are contrary to STINE’s normal operating policies. USER must notify STINE within fourteen (14) days of becoming aware of alleged issues regarding the quality or performance of the Seed. LIMITATION OF WARRANTIES & DAMAGES STINE warrants, to the extent of the purchase price and to the extent that the packaging and label have not been compromised, that the Seed is as described on the package and on the tag attached thereto within recognized tolerances. STINE gives no other WARRANTY, expressed or implied, of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS of the Seed for any particular purpose, nor any warranty against loss due to any cause, including environmental conditions, soil conditions, chemicals or farming practices, or the response of the Seed to any such conditions. STINE shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages, including loss of profits. STINE’S LIABILITY for damages for any cause, including breach of contract, breach of warranty, and negligence, with respect to the sale of seed is LIMITED to the purchase price of the Seed. THIS REMEDY IS EXCLUSIVE. BY ACCEPTANCE OF THIS SEED OR OPENING THIS PACKAGE, USER ACCEPTS THE TERMS HEREIN. IF USER DOES NOT AGREE WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, USER MUST RETURN THE ORIGINAL UNOPENED SEED PACKAGE TO STINE WITHIN TWENTY DAYS OF RECEIPT AND USER’S SOLE REMEDY SHALL BE FOR REFUND OF THE USER’S ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE. STINE may modify and amend the terms and conditions of this Agreement without notice and in its sole discretion.
