TIRD
Master's Degree Thesis Project, 2015 “Tird: teaching technology” offers an innovative form of technological education for the elderly. The awareness of the growing digital divide, linked to the old age, and the need to create a solid bridge between generations and different languages, led to design an enabling platform that can teach to the “digital immigrants” the new forms of communication and interaction, typical of the today's modern society. Using the product, therefore, the seniors are encouraged to use and consume the ICTs (information and communication technologies), as smartphones and tablets, in order to reap their benefits in terms of wellbeing. The technological training occurs through the product interface, which offers a series of lessons and interactive activities with the goal of teaching both theoretical concepts and practical ones.
TIRD
TIRD Tird offers a structured and logical form of education, but also fresh and fun, thanks to which the senior creates his own digital learning process, being able to keep in mind his interests and skills. The protagonist of the platform is “Tird the owl, a virtual tutor who assists the user empathically during his study, motivating and stimulating the learning continuity.
TIRD
PRODUCT DESIGN SIMULTANEOUS USE The product is characterized by the presence of a pull-out part, which has the main function to accommodate mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. Tird is a “cross-product, able to detect the presence of many devices, and thus to stimulate the simultaneous use of the interface and the mobile device, with the aim to bring the user in contact with his own digital tool and to explore its functions and contents.
TIRD A DOMESTIC PRODUCT The merger between analog memory and digital modernity makes Tird a familiar product, which is innovative in its functions but low tech in its physical aspect and which is integrated coherently into the domestic environment of a senior.
PRODUCT DESIGN 440
AFFORDANCE To encourage an approach based on the recognizability, the product is intentionally low tech in some of its key components. The sharp contrast between the digital interface and the physicality of the commands, allows the user to relate in a confidential way to the product and to establish with it a “material” relationship. The affordance was therefore the main goal required by the product design.

THE MOVABLE DRAWER The moving part of the product is used as a support for the device (smartphone or tablet) during the use of the platform's activities. This movable drawer enables the user to have a stand, which can be easily put inside the product as soon as it's no longer necessary.

DEVICE'S PLACEMENT The user that decides to use the drawer as a support of his device during the platform's activities, has several options: in fact, he may decide to lay his digital tool on the moving part or place it in the provided space. The dimensions of the drawer are designed to accommodate different models of devices.
TRAILIGHT
Lightning design, Team Project, 2015 The idea behind the project is to create a conceptual 'fitness trail' in the area of Leonardo Da Vinci Square, in Milan. This project aims to actively involve all those who pass through the area, because only with their direct intervention they will enjoy an efficient lighting in the Square. Thanks to the piezo technology, each path element can be reloaded with the user's interaction and then light up the surrounding area. The various elements require a different intervention so as to become a real 'lighting' interactive park. The users will benefit enormously from an outdoor gym and the Square, in turn, will benefit from a permanent lighting generated from the active ollaboration between inhabitants. In fact the physical efforts will be quantified in energy donated to the Square, extending the duration of the lighting and therefore the life of the entire area.

PIEZOELECTRIC TECHNOLOGY The piezoelectric effect is increasingly being used in the field of design and architecture to exploit the mechanical deformation given by the passage of persons or vehicles on special tiles with sensors. The electric polarization resulting thus allows to generate power in light devices. To connect the various elements of the trail there's a power indicator, which communicates in real time the amount of energy stored in the Square, so as to raise the awareness of the participation and the shared commitment.

The presence of the 'Politecnico of Milano' in Leonardo da Vinci Square draws every day large flows of workers and students. Its role is therefore absolutely important, and the lighting should underline its relevance. So MaxiWoody iGuzzini has the main task of enhancing the light and shade of the facade, through a scenic lighting, focused on the architectural details.
GOCART
Workshop with Steelcase, Team Project, 2014 GoCart is a portable sofa, designed for the office space, able to adapt to the new office scenarios and the users' needs. It can be used to configure the indoor environment in different ways, thanks to his modular pillows; it's perfect for being used during informal meetings and breaks from paperwork. Gocart features two large side wheels that enhance mobility and playfulness and dumbbells that facilitate the portability of the medium along the office corridors. The armrests can be opened in order to use the surface as a support for books, office items or laptops, thanks to the presence of a power outlet.

Sequence showing the Go Cart usage options: the armrests are opened in order to use the table top and the pillows are removed and placed on the floor.
PRODUCT DESIGN Nowadays the office space has changed, allowing for a greater informality and intimacy between collegues and a freedom of interior configuration. For this reason the project has its roots on the need to provide to the workers a versatile and ironic furniture, able to change and adapt to different situations: from a simple sofa, GoCart becomes the tool which allows to configure a new shared space inside the office environment.

NAJMA
Designècompetition Award, Team Project, 2014-2015 Najma is an indoor coffee table that evokes the scents and the sensations of the Mediterranean sea. The functionality and the simplicity of the structure are combined to the richness of the texture, made possible by the laser cutting technology. The table takes shape by a unique sheet of steel, which when folded allows to mount the four legs.
NAJMA
THE TEXTURE The laser cutting technology allows to work extensively on the texture. Najma presents some typically arabesque motifs that suit the star shape of the plan and that result characteristic of the technology process.

VIVARIUM
Product design, Team project. 2014 This set of condiments expresses the technological potential of the mold casting of a noble material such as ceramic. The ambition of the project is to recreate a green island on the dining table, like a decorative table centerpiece, but without forgetting the main feature of the set. Thanks to the use of the ceramic, Vivarium is an elegant and sophisticated system, rich of surface details.
VIVARIUM THE COMPLETE SET Vivarium consists of five elements: the oil bottle, the vinegar bottle, the salt and pepper container and the sugar. Each element of the set is inspired by a specific succulent plant or cactus. To emphasize the formal reference, the bottles have the typical texture of this family of plants.
THE CERAMIC MOLD CASTING A mixture of water and clay is poured into a mold of plaster porous. The material in contact with the plaster decreases its water content, producing a layer of solid clay. After reaching an adequate thickness, the excess mixture is removed and the mold is opened. After a first drying phase the piece is baked in a continuous oven.
PRODUCT DESIGN
FILL: The cork keeps the condiment inside the container. It also allows a good isolation and a strong visual contrast with the ceramic.
POUR The surface roughness ensure a better grip of the object.
MUGMAP
Product design, Team Project, 2014 Mug Map is a thermal travel mug meant to serve as a container of hot drinks. Coffee is somewhat an implement that connects different parts of the world, with Mug Map you are able to choose your personal favourite out of four different compartments. The bottom cups are replaceable and represents one culture each, certain color and shape makes your Mug Mappersonal and unique.
MUGMAP THE FOUR CUPS The coffee is a beverage able to aggregate different cultures together. So the four cups involve precisely the typological differences in the preparation of coffee and the use of different containers. TUMBLER CUP, Usa. The large size of the classical Usa mug allows to drink a large amount of coffee. Polypropylene, lemon yellow with matte finish. Capacity of 30 cl.
OLLA, Mexico. It evokes the earthenware pots used to boil the water for the coffee. Polypropylene, brown clay with rough finish. Capacity of 28 cl.
ESPRESSO, Italia. The shape and the size are those of the typical Italian illy coffee cup. Polypropylene, pompeian red with glossy finish. Capacity of 21 cl.
CEZVE, Turkey. The cezve is a particular elungated jug, used to serve coffee into the cups. Polypropylene, turquoise with glossy finish. Capacity of 28 cl.
PRODUCT DESIGN
Plug Polypropylene (PP) Tab Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)
Holder Polypropylene (PP) Inner pot Polypropylene (PP)
THE OPERATION: According to the needs, the cup can be used as a part of the travel mug or as an outdoor mug.
TARGET: The travel mug is used by students and workers. Because of its wide use, the travel mug looks anonymous and stereotyped. So the goal of the project is to create a versatile and customizable product to make it new and unique.
ALTEREGO
Concept design, Team Project, 2014 Alterego is a 20 x 20 cm light cube in which coexist two different realities, both near and far at the same time. The two souls are dependent on each other, but become visible at different times. Source of revelation is just the light that reveals the second and not perceptible “I of the cube. So Alterego takes on two roles completely different in its being turned on or off.
ALTEREGO When turned off, the cube is coated with a reflective film, being impersonal and severe. This reflective film, applied on the five outer faces of the cube becomes transparent when the interior light is on.
THE WHITE SOUL The first mood of the light effect shows a small and spongy cube inside the big one. This is lit from below, emphasizing the threedimensional and the roundness of the shape.
PRODUCT DESIGN
THE PINK SOUL A coloured acetate film placed above the light source creates a coral colour which is distributed homogeneously over the entire surface of the cube.
B LIGHT
Concept design, Team project, 2013 Blight is a light device that uses chemical energy to turn on the LEDs. The main feature of the product is the use of a primary source, such as water, to generate light, showing an alternative to electricity. The purpose of the project is to show an energy transformation with the power of water, its ability to inspire astonishment and relax and to be a great resource for the future.
B LIGHT
THE SOLUTION Blight uses a saline water solution to allow the ignition. It's poured into the trasparent container and filtered through the tubes. The water then drips on the open circuit that connects the LEDs through the ribbon cables. This drop closes the circuit falling on the cables, activating the LEDs' light.
THE TANK The plates are angled and drilled. In this way the water flows and is collected into a container that can be extracted as a drawer to ensure the reuse.
PRODUCT DESIGN
THE VALUE OF TIME During the process the copper corrodes. Thanks to the rust the water marks its passage, drawing on the copper shapes in constant motion. So the rust is not a symbol of decay and destruction, but a proof of the passage of time.
PULCINELLA
Workshop with Faber Spa, Team Project, 2013 The product was designed during a workshop in collaboration with the Italian company Faber, a leader manufacturer of high range hoods. Pulcinella is a kitched hood designed that gives an ironic and playful aspect to the kitchen. The zoomorphic design stimulates the imagination during the food preparation, merging aesthetics and functionality with a manually operated timer.
THE INTERACTION The product is composed by a series of parts, which contribute to enhance the zoomorphic nature of the hood. The grease filters are the footprints of a bird, the knob aeration (with 3 different intensity) represents the eye of the animal and the timer is the bird's beak. This one can be operated by moving it along the track.
TIRD GRAPHICS
Master's Degree Thesis project The centerpiece of the “Tird teaching technology” project is undoubtedly the learning platform designed for the Third Age. This interface has several sections, all united by the same goal: to teach the languages and the network codes, so that the senior can acquire the necessary skills to manipulate the digital devices as smartphones and tablets. Moreover to return to the end user an identifying and recognizable image of Tird I made some graphics choices regarding the style, the color, the font, that are repeated in different supports. In particular it was necessary to find the right balance between modernity and freshness attributable to the platform and the peculiarities of its target user: the elderly. For this reason, the range of colors selected is not overly lit, brilliant or childish, but at the same time transmits sensations of pleasure and lightness.
TIRD GRAPHICS LESSONS: It offers theoretical explanations about the digital world and topics related to new technologies.
ACTIVITIES: Requires the user's active intervention, who learns to use his own device by following the steps illustrated by Tird.
COMMUNITY:
SHOP: It's regularly updated with new contents, downloadable for a fee and used on the platform.
ACCOUNT:

HUMAN
Photography, Team project, 2013 The “Human” project, shown here, is a photographic elaboration of an icicle melting process, developed during the “visual arts” university course. It metaphorically represents the unveiling of an individual, who's freed from his prejudices and his securities to show himself for what he really is. After documenting the process with several consecutive frames we realized a video, using the stop motion technique. This is the final video link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PujevbEHwU
