A rich history of honoring Veterans through design

Since 1950, LEO A DALY has been a trusted partner of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), creating, enhancing and improving healing environments for our nation’s heroes. Our solemn duty as architects and engineers is to express our gratitude through Veteran-focused design that addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Veterans.

Design impact

At LEO A DALY, our desire to enrich the human experience permeates every aspect of our design process and drives us to exceed expectations for our Veterans and the VA professionals who care for them.

We take great pride in our long-standing relationship with the VA as design thought leaders, we are honored to offer design solutions that improve every aspect of Veteran healthcare needs, receipt of benefits and memorialization of their service.

The landmark Omaha VA Ambulatory Care Center’s architectural features honor military service throughout its three levels and 157,000 square feet of floor space. Collaboration between architecture and engineering created unique expressions of freedom, sacrifice, honor and duty.

Small business partner & advocate

Throughout our history we have consistently exceeded Federal small business subcontracting goals.

Our valued partnerships with small businesses has enabled us to seamlessly engage with SDVOSB partners as both prime contract holder, and as a subconsultant, to successfully execute VA task orders.

LEO A DALY provides our small business partners with expertise in VA work that helps grow their business. In turn, we stay engaged and current with VA design guides, standards and market trends. A dual vetting process ensures these partnerships are fair, productive and sustainable for future opportunities.

As design thought leaders, we serve our heroes in every aspect of their healthcare needs, receipt of benefits and memorialization of their service.

Proven Performance

Our 75 years of experience working with the VA has made LEO A DALY a trusted and reliable partner to the VA in meeting its needs, no matter how daunting the tasks may be. Below are some of the more unique opportunities we have had the honor of performing as VA’s partner with the goal of exceeding expectations to positively impact the lives of our Veterans:

Biloxi Medical Center, Biloxi, Mississippi — When VA facilities were ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, LEO A DALY was selected to provide planning and design services to restore the Biloxi VA campus. Despite complicated phasing and multiple restoration projects occurring simultaneously, the project was completed below budget and ahead of schedule.

VA West Los Angeles VAMC, B209 Transitional Care

Housing, Los Angeles, California — Building 209 at the West Los Angeles campus was transformed into a new home for Los Angeles-area homeless Veterans. This project won a national AIA award and the prestigious John Wesley Powell prize as it breathed life into a vacant, historic structure and provided Veterans with a home of which they could be proud.

Omaha VA Ambulatory Care Center, Omaha, Nebraska —

When VA pursued is first ever capital project funded under the CHIP in for VETS Act of 2016 – the Ambulatory Care Center at the VA Omaha Campus — LEO A DALY was chosen as the design firm because of our outstanding reputation with the VA as well as the Omaha community.

Veterans Hospital in Tulsa (VHiT), Tulsa, Oklahoma — LEO A DALY is also the design firm with GH2, for the second CHIP-IN project - the Veterans Hospital in Tulsa (VHiT) which is converting vacated State of Oklahoma office buildings into an inpatient facility for Veterans.

Portland Medical Center, Portland, Oregon — When the US Army Corps of Engineers and the VA chose a design team for one of its largest, most complex projects ever – the Seismic Upgrades, Renovations, Clinical Addition, Parking Structure, Demolition and Central Energy Plant at the VA Portland campus on Marquam Hill – it selected the Joint Venture team of LEO A DALY and ZGF to solve the complex challenges the project presented.
