Today, we celebrate the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time. We read from Luke 5:1-11. Luke tells us that Jesus was preaching, surrounded by large crowds. He saw two boats nearby – one of them belonged to Simon. He told Simon to go out into the deep waters and lower his nets. Simon, who had been working hard all day and caught nothing, doubted Jesus but did as he said. Much to Simon Peter’s surprise both boats were soon filled with so many fish that they were overflowing! Jesus then called Simon Peter and his friends James and John to follow Him and help Him spread the gospel message to others. Jesus wants us to be fishers too! He wants us to use our special gifts, talents and especially our love to lead others to Him! Look for ways this week to teach others about Jesus.
For More Fun: ü Read Luke 5:1-11 in your family bible. Play a family game of “Go Fish!” this week and chat about what type of “bait” is needed to “catch” souls and lead others to Christ.
