CIRCUS SQUARE PARK PAVILION BOWLING GREEN, KY
BOWLING GREEN CIRCUS SQAURE PARK PAVILION The site is located a block from downtown Bowling Green in the Circus Square Park. The sun moves from East to West. The site I chose is the flat land on the back corner of the park. There are two ramps for ADA shown with arrows that can be accessed straight from the two parking lots shown. It is surrounded by historical buildings like La Gala and SKyPAC. The site is also surrounded by one-way road and have two parking lots. Once every year, the park hosts an event called the International Festival, so having a pavilion in the site could provide shelter for locals who attend the festival to get away from the sun or rain.
SITE PLAN SECTION VIEW The section cut shows the interior of the pavilion and the different sizes columns. The pavilion is quite spacious in comparison to the people in the section. It also shows the ceiling that is designed to replicate Barcelo’s work that was done in the UN’s palace.
ABOUT THE PAVILION The columns are designed in three various sizes to represent the three social classes. The smallest columns on the left represent the lower class, middle columns represent the middle class, and the largest columns represent the high class. The arrangements of the columns are smaller to high class with the middle class in the between. The middle columns are designed to be in different lengths to signify the unstableness of the middle class because they always have the potential to either become poorer or wealthier, so it is considered as unstable. The bigger columns are given more room because they are viewed as always being comfortable or breathable unlike the smaller columns that are grouped together really closely and look a bit less uncomfortable than the other columns. The colors of the columns are chosen to be soothing and not exaggerated to compliment the works of Barcelo as his paintings are often made with similar color tone. The roof of the structure is bent upwards in an uplifting motion on the bigger columns side to compliment Barcelo’s work and to get a message across about the higher class are well better off for themselves and seem to always be getting wealthier whereas the lower classes are stable on the flat side of the roof structure because as a contemporary artist, the main message he wants to represent in his work is about the current issues in society. Becuase of how spacious it is, this structure is a multi-prupose pavilion. It could be used to organize a small rendezvous, wedding reception, or a picnicwith the marble tables provided. As mentioned earlier, the pavilion could become a great use for guests visiting various festivals that are held at the park.

SOUTH SIDE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOWLING GREEN, KY
BOWLING GREEN SOUTH SIDE PUBLIC LIBRARY The site is located withih 3 school districts: South Warren, Rich Pond Elementary, and Rockfield Elementary. The site is also located on Nashville Rd., which is a very high-traffic road. This means that the building has the potential to be seen by many passersby. The library provides a children’s area, adult’s section, computer access, and a coffee shop. The design concepts and philosophy for this project is: “the future of a library is too unpredictable, so the aim and concept for this project is to design ahead of the future.” The library creates a sense of community by providing a safe space for students and locals to utilize the services provided by the library whether it would be the occasionally exhibitions, book rentals, or computer access. The building’s structure is space frame. This allows the me, as the designer, to design the building in an irregular shape. Space frame buildings are also very durable and capable of holding up heavy loads as the exterior of the building is made of concrete.
THE FLOW CONDOMINIUM LOUISVILLE, KY
THE FLOW CONDOMINIUM The site is located in Louisville, KY. It is really close to the Kentucky YUM! Center. The site is approximately two blocks from the riverfront. The design concepts and philosophy for this project is: “We are flowing into the future of architecture.” Flow in this case is linked the movement of water un and down the river nearby and that is where I came up with the design of the shape of the building. The idea of the design was created in order to have something new, unique, and futuristic. The reason behind designing something futuristic is because the city of Louisville is filled with industrialistic architecture that fact would literally make the building stand out, and the site is located very close to the campus of University of Louisville where many college students may need a condo to buy that is luxurious enough. The building’s structure is space frame. This allows the me, as the designer, to design the building in an irregular shape. Space frame buildings are also very durable and capable of holding up heavy loads as the exterior of the building is made of concrete. Each floor of the condo has a different variety of apartment sizes. There are one bedroom apartments, two bedroom apartments, and three bedroom apartments. To the left is the 5th floor plan. This floor features 2 one bedroom apartments, 2 two bedroom apartments, and 1 three bedroom apartment. The three bedroom apartment takes an entire side of the building and wraps around the front and back of the building to give the resident the best 180 degrees view of city of Louisville.
