For us, sustainability is not just a buzz word! Our backpacks and bags have been on tour with alpinists, hikers, and climbers for 117 years – and since the 1980ies also with mountain bikers. We want to build perfect companions for people who are passionate about their sports. Our products are famous (almost infamous) for their longevity and the low complain rates. Yet we are not made to rest on our laurels! Step by step we want to push and improve – in many different areas. Always following our credo: “From acorns oak trees grow!” So we continuously work on our products – in close cooperation with our athletes. Our classics are no exception: this is the come-back year of our backpack veterans Zugspitze and Gröden. They shine in a new refined, classic look and will easily win the hearts of traditionalists and young hikers alike. Our Aircontacts have also undergone an evolution: they are very modern in style – and offer even more comfort. The new, flexible Active-Fit shoulder straps and the custom fit of the hip wings ensure a perfect, snug fit of the Aircontact back system. Yet Deuter is not just about products. We are a team, we share values and we care about each good working conditions worldwide! For more than two decades we’ve been working with our Corean production partner Duke. Over the years our sales have grown by 800 % – yet still Duke produces 100 % of our backpacks and accessories. It is a very uncommon relationship within the textile industry, where brands usually hop from
production site to production site. For us the trustful cooperation guarantees a strong influence on working conditions. In 2011 we took the next step by joining the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF). And we are very proud to have just been honoured with the FWF Best Practice Award for our efficient measures to reduce overtime in our production facilities in Vietnam. Animal welfare is also an important issue for us. For our sleeping bags with down filling, we’ve always used feathers collected as a by-product of the food industry – we strictly condemn live-plucking! And we also took an important step here: since June 2015 we exclusively use RDS certified down (Responsible Down Standard) controlled and audited by independent authorities. Nepal is one of the poorest, yet one of the most beautiful countries on this planet. We have very special ties to Nepal and were deeply shocked about the quake devastation in April 2015. We knew straight away: our long-term support of our primary school in Kathmandu has to continue, but now direct aid was urgent. We can help efficiently by supporting our partner, the Nepalhilfe Beilngries. Their aid workers have been providing incredible help in the disaster stricken areas. Every little donation counts… Your Deuter Team
