What we do

San Filippo S.r.l. was born in Genoa in May 2008 and takes its name from one of the masterpieces of Genoese Baroque, the Church of San Filippo Neri which, with the adjacent oratory and convent, is one of the largest religious complexes in the historic centre of Genoa. Its construction is due to the citizen Camillo Pallavicini, a member of the noble and ancient Genoese family whose origins are coeval with those of Lercari’s family.

San Filippo S.r.l. is a company specialized in the “turnkey” management of electrical phenomenon claims, or, more precisely, the timely check, assessment and potential settlement of the damages caused by the electric action of lightning, by short circuit, by the change of current or voltage and by other phenomena of electrical nature due to accidental causes. This is an optional guarantee that can be taken out against payment of an additional premium in fire and Electronics policies, covering the damages of deterioration which as a result of discharges or of other events, may occur in systems of machinery, equipment, circuits, and the like. The check of the causes which, for example, can be due to: 1) short circuit, due to accidental contact at low impedance between two parts of system normally operating at different potential; 2) current variation, for deviation of the intensity level of electric current from the nominal values expected for the proper operation of the systems; 3) sudden rise in the values of the power supply voltage (overvoltage) compared to the nominal values expected for the proper operation of the systems or feed-in of unidirectional voltage impulses in the supply mains due to atmospheric events; 4) voltaic arc (accidental electric discharge between two parts of the system supported by the voltage of the power supply network), is carried out on the spot, where the good has been affected by the loss, through a network of technicians located all over the Italian territory. Particular care has been taken in the selection of the technicians who make up the network and constitute a distinguishing factor.

Given the extreme diversity of the causes and of the types of goods that may be affected by the electrical phenomenon event, and the need for each item to be “inspected” by competent professionals in the field, San Filippo has a staff divided into four main areas: white, brown, electrical and information science. The settlement of the damages is made centrally by a team of professionals with a specific know how to guarantee impartiality and fairness.

Best practice Lightning are one of the most common causes of failure for power lines of medium and low voltage, and are among the major risks for human and industrial activities, and for social life. San Filippo, in collaboration with CESI (Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano - Italian Electrotechnical Experimental Centre) uses a lightning detection system, which is based on a network of lightning sensors (SIRF) at national level, for the real-time detection and localization of discharges of lightning developed between clouds and ground, with an accuracy of a few tens of meters. This system, in addition to the processing of evolutionary statistics of the phenomenon according to the geographical area, allows an accurate assessment of the occurrence as well as of the circumstances reported in the notification of loss as cause of the damage.
