want to welcome my good buddy Warren Durso to BTS Entertainment Corner. It's great to have someone I've known and worked with for many years in the segment! Here's some backstory on Warren: Warren Durso is a native New Yorker, and started his entertainment career playing drums professionally at the age of 9 years old. In the early 90’s Warren met comedian Ron Bennington, from the Ron and Ron radio Network in Clearwater, Florida where he played a character called “The Curtain Boy” on the syndicated radio show. Warren became a regular favorite at Ron Bennington’s Comedy Scene.Warren toured with Sam Kinison’s Outlaws of Comedy featuring Jimmy Shubert, Carl LaBove, Mitchell Walters and Warren Durso as Ron Bennington’s Disciples of Comedy selling out 2000 seat theaters throughout the South Eastern United States.

Renaissance Man: Warren Durso said yes, when? He said “Tomorrow at 9:00 A.M. Don’t miss your flight!!” It lasted nine months with high accolades! I love Las Vegas; been here 5-1/2 years and definitely for the long haul.

BTS: We worked together "Back in the Day". I know we've talked about it, but what's changed for you in the industry (Acting & Comedy) over the years? What do you see positive and negative in these changes? WD: Acting has changed for the worse…It used to be, if you could act and were good at it and the auditioning process, then you would work steady enough to keep your S.A.G. (Continued on page 6)

Warren performed stand-up comedy all around the world with the likes of Jeff Dunham & Peanut, Amazing Jonathan, Academy Award Winner Jamie Foxx, Billy Gardell, Larry The Cable Guy and SNL cast members Jim Breuer, Darrell Hammond and Norm McDonald to name a few. Warren has written comedy for George Wallace, Jimmy “J.J” Walker, Daniel Tosh and many, many others. Warren has acted in 2 feature films released in 2008. They are titled, Cutoff featuring Faye Dunaway, Malcolm McDowell, Anne Archer, Kurupt, and Amanda Brooks. Even Money featuring Danny Devito, Kim Basinger, Forrest Whittaker, Kelsey Grammer and directed by Mark Rydell. BTS: Warren, it's a pleasure to have you here. My first question is about your journey to Las Vegas where you now reside. How did you find yourself there and do you think you're there for the long haul? WD: I was playing a Bonkerz Comedy Club in Atlanta; it was the weekend of August 16-18, 2013. The second show Saturday night was about to start and my phone rings. It’s Joe Sanfelippo the president of Bonkerz and he asked me if I wanted my own show 6 nights a week at The Plaza Hotel downtown Las Vegas inside a nice 100 seat room after Louie Anderson was done performing in the showroom. n February 1st at the Radio Studio Auditorium at the Reno Town Mall, a Board of Director’s meeting was held to vote on a new set of Officers for the Board of the Media Company. Worlds Matters Inc. does business in America as America Matters Media, and was just selected as one of two finalists in Small Business of the Year, from Alignable Main Street insights. Another dba of the Incorporation is World Matters Media; we live stream around the World on www.AmericaMatters.us . Those in attendance were Shanimal Lawson, Sales Manager for America Matters Media, Anita Foster, Administrative Assistant, Major Sadiq Patankar, with the Nevada Air Guard (guest), James W. The directors elected were Richard Cornell, local attorney for over 40 years, elected to Co-Chair, and Senator Omer Rains, youngest California State Senator and Senate Majority Leader, with over 1.5 million constituents. “Without a doubt, this is the most talented Board of Directors and officers ever for World Matters Inc. a Nevada Corporation. “ The only

ames Joyce (1882—1941) was one of the greatest literary geniuses of the twentieth century. He wrote “Dubliners”, “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man”, “Ulysses” and “Finnegans Wake”. My favorite of the four has always been “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man”. The protagonist of the latter is an Irish Catholic youngster named Stephen Dedalus. The plot is focused on the development of Stephen’s mind, from childhood to young adulthood, and his eventual rejection of Catholicism in order to pursue a life of creative fulfillment abroad. The first part of the novel concerns Stephen’s life at a Jesuit-run school. He is depicted as a studious, observant and physically timid boy. The descriptions of this world are evocative, realistic and sometimes harrowing—as when Stephen receives a dose of undeserved corporal punishment from the prefect of studies. He realizes early on that he is different from others, and he foresees for himself an eventual transformation: ‘Weakness and timidity and inexperience would fall from him in that magic moment.’ Later, during adolescence, he becomes obsessed with sex. But this passion for pleasure is squelched when he and his fellow students listen to a sermon on hell during a retreat. This sermon has had a strong impact on many readers over the course of the last century. Anthony Burgess wrote: ‘I still find it difficult to read the hell-chapter without some of the sense of suffocation I felt when I first met it…’ I too was unnerved by the hell-chapter, but it also impressed me with its sheer power. About fifteen pages are devoted to the sermon, and I doubt that any writer but Joyce could pull it off without lapsing into caricature. The point of this terrifying episode is to dramatize what his protagonist is up against. His rejection of the Church must emerge from this crucible of fear. Stephen’s apostasy is as unique as it is profound. He remains more a student of Thomas Aquinas than of any secular master. And to quote Anthony Burgess again, where he speaks of Joyce’s work in general: ‘Despite all the mockery and blaspheming, it is safe to put Joyce’s works into the hands of the devout believer … The Church stands that it may be battered, but the fists that batter know their own impotence.’ Near the novel’s end, Stephen is engaged in a climactic dialogue with a friend named Cranly. They debate the pros and cons of Stephen’s resolve to leave his family, country and Church. In a sense Cranly is Catholic Ireland, or so he has always seemed to me; and as such I identify with him,

sympathize with him, over and above Stephen Dedalus. Even so, Joyce’s protagonist—the prime example of antireligious rebellion—deserves the serious consideration of all thoughtful readers.

John Loranger was born in Butte, Montana in 1961 but has spent most of his life in Nevada. He served in the United States Navy from 1983 to 1987, then worked for the telephone company before retiring in 2011. He has always enjoyed reading fiction and has published two novels of his own: "The Odyssey of Art O'Hara" and "Lions and Souls: the Story of St. Mary of Egypt". His approach to fiction is best summed up by a quote from Walker Percy: "The first rule of thumb, of course, is pleasure. A good book gives the reader pleasure, the sort of deep, abiding pleasure he likes to come back to."

A.F.T.R.A. insurance. Today, 2019, if you don’t have millions of followers on your social media you won’t secure an agent or even a solid audition. There are YOUTUBE stars and social media stars that will go past the audition process and get a part not based on talents, but on social media popularity!!! I see that the positive will be to re-invent myself again as a solid producer and produce quality comedy as well as dramatic films and short film content. Comedy, in my opinion is a watered-down art form 2019. Political correctness, society offended by everything and everyone doing stand-up IE; porn stars Ron Jeremy and Stormy Daniels, rapper/actor icon Will Smith for examples off the top of my head! Plus, when we were coming up 25 years ago there were 5000 clubs and about 500 solid comedians, now there is 500 clubs and 5000 comics. The difference between comedians and comics is, comics say funny things, comedians we say things funny!! BTS: As we've grown as entertainers, do you think we should put ourselves in those boxes of "Comedian" or "Actor" or "Director" or just say the hell with it and call ourselves all around storytellers?

WD: I am a renaissance man, I do all these jobs very well and am confident. I have attached my acting reel, comedy show and a few short media clips of my storytelling!

I've been asked which one I like best, being a comedian or actor. I'll ask you the same thing and tell you, I like them both equally and will continue to do both. Your thoughts? BTS: I love stand-up comedy because your gratification is instantaneous! If you are not funny the audience let’s you know instantly and when you are funny it is just as matter of fact! I love acting in a different way and I am leaning more towards the acting/producing/ writing aspect of my career!

What's coming up for you? Where can people catch your shows or films? WD: I have a YOUTUBE channel where I put up some stuff under Warren Durso. I am in the process of having a website built which will have all of me in one arena. BTS: Any advice for those folks coming up in the business or have been here awhile? Warnings? TOPIC: HR 1: 16 Year Old Vote

Perspectives from many sides

It has been a volatile period in history with dramatic splits between people and parties. Rather than maintaining silence, What’s the Story™ would like to contribute some down to earth, people-focused OPINIONS. These do not reflect our view necessarily; they reflect the views of people who identify as one of the parties listed. If you belong to one of these parties, your view might be different than what is expressed. That is to be expected. Our goal is to provide perspectives and contribute to the conversation, not by yelling, anger or disruption but by sharing as many views as we can allowing EVERYONE to express their First Amendment right to Freedom Of Speech. “Of the people, by the people, for the people”.

WHAT WE ASKED: On March 7, 2019 members of Congress voted on HR1, known as the “For the People Act of 2019”.We asked our political contributors to comment on the idea of 16 year old Americans voting, part of the proposed changes in this bill. See page 15 in the digital version (www.issuu.com) or the insert in the print version. A tally of how the parties voted and a link address to the names of the representatives and their votes is listed there.

eens under eighteen shouldn’t vote. Several states have proposed lowering the legal voting age to sixteen. While this may seem like a good idea to many, in light of the shooting rampages that have happened across the country and the way politicians have shunned the survivors as unenlightened as to gun laws and why they are what they are. Teens like David Hogg and others have shown the country what enlightened teens can do when they are motivated and have a platform. Hogg and the other students who have brought the gun-control debate to a new level should be applauded for their efforts and also should worry politicians who believe that teenagers are just self-important, sex-crazed animals who think only of the next American idol contestant. However, Hogg and the other students involved in the movement to end school violence are a small sample of a larger group who still believe it is great fun to make light of the Holocaust, scribble racist graffiti on mailboxes and lampposts and bully their brother and sister students online. ell, isn’t that just a great idea, giving snot nose 16 year old kids the right to vote. Gee, what’s next? Maybe letting criminals and illegals and Russians and dogs who marry humans have the right to vote. I guarantee one thing, if the majority of 16 year old snot nosed kids were responsible patriotic law loving Americans, there would be zero talk of giving them the right to vote. Surly we are in the twilight of this great American experiment. Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government, it can only exist until the people discover that they can vote for themselves largess from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that always collapses over loose fiscal policy, taxing and spending, always followed by a dictatorship. The average life span of the world’s greatest civilizations is two hundred years. Alexander Tyler (Historian) In the early days of this country only property owners could vote. o vote or not to vote, that is the question. If Shakespeare would be with us today, he might have said this quote in regards to children as young as 16 being allowed to vote in a modern society. Back in the “ye olde” days, children were forced to grow up fast and encountered more responsibility that was heaped upon their young shoulders. But things are drastically different today and by that standard, should children as young as 16 be allowed to vote? Research suggests that children’s brains are NOT fully developed until the age of 22 is obtained. Democrats and others understand this psychological evidence that is backed up by neuroscientific findings. In other words, children at the age of 16 cannot make rational decisions. So how does this assist the Democrats? The second part to this equation is FREE education, FREE healthcare and FREE daycare and a Green New Deal to combat climate change for the whole world. When you dangle shiny objects in front of children (and some adults), they have a tendency to reach for it regardless of the unintended consequences. Children will believe that the Democrats have their backs when in reality, (Continued on page 14)

eniors’ yesteryears are"Been There and Done That". I'm 74 and have stowed away into City Government after being lured into my Ward 3 Neighborhood Advisory Board. The title of this article could have been "Seniors Crossing" Reno's 1st Senior Street Sign". This is a "Tale of Two Cities" I have gotten to think out of the status quo and add the name SENIOR to its arsenal of street signage. To accomplish this it took Bill & Hillary, no not the Clinton's. Reno Police Lt. Bill Rulla and Mayor Hillary Schieve guided me while I navigated through department heads. Most were helpful but some were a hindrance. One traffic engineer arrogantly said "If you want that senior sign, make it yourself". How I responded sent waves through City Hall. In a 4 square block radius of Paradise Dr, which I live on, and Carville Dr. connecting to Silverada Boulevard are speeding cars in and among 600 seniors and Bernice Mathews Grade School with 300 kids. They walk home and also go on park excursions finding used syringes and condoms after a night of drug dealing in the Paradise Park parking lot. I was compelling in bringing City Government into new thinking. I succeeded with this in Auburn, California and now Reno has added a "Seniors Crossing" sign to the crosswalk on Paradise Drive. I argued that

We're STILL Here & We're NOT Done Yet high pockets of school kids and playgrounds have signs. Given seniors are the largest growing population in the U.S., this sign would become a Sign of the Times. After surveying my neighborhood, I took our concerns to city council meetings where I proposed a "comprehensive plan" offering solutions in 15 areas. I caught the attention of Hillary who recognized my passion and persistence and liked my claim as Mr. Seenager. Councilman Oscar Delgado invited me to his office to hear my plan and solutions. Oscar recognized that this area has the largest population of seniors in Reno. Afterwards he was compelled to invite me into his Ward 3 Neighborhood Advisory Board. Then I found out there is no senior signage in the arsenal of city signage. Police Lt. Bill Rulla showed me Nevada Revised Statute 484A.440 and said this is the way the city could get the senior signage. No one reacted. I met the Mayor on the street who led me to City Attorney Carl Hall. He came to my place and said "Where do you want the signs?". Finally, I met with Hillary in her office with Assistant City Manager, Bill Thomas and Engineer Manager Kerrie Koski. The Mayor said "Let's just make the signs" and they did. Moving forward, I'm planning, along with Oscar, an "Us Seniors Block N' Role* Party in Paradise Park * Seniors ROLE in Life. This July 14th party will have music, food trucks, kids activities along with tables of senior services to inform seniors. Like the #ME TOO movement I urge a #US TOO movement, seniors Inclusiveness. Email me at nevergiveupshow5@gmail.com to get involved and/or donate to the US Seniors’ Party. here are two types of people in this world: (1.) those who are

convinced their life oughta be a book; and (2.) those who are pretty sure theirs isn’t interesting enough to write about. Whichever one you are, you’ve lived through the most exciting time in all history, a time of rapid change and grand drama. And, we can’t even imagine the changes, and the drama, that will occur in the coming years. The world in which you grew up and matured no longer exists. To your grandchildren and their grandchildren, that world is like another planet. They’ll be fascinated to learn you actually lived in it.

Your Life Oughta Be a Book Although I’ve traveled the world, earned advanced degrees, and had wonderful careers, my life began in a humble farmhouse in California’s central valley. When my grandkids read about my childhood, they ask in disbelief, “Grandma, was that you?!” They can’t imagine life without a dishwasher and a microwave, much less indoor plumbing . . . a time when folks lived without electronic gadgets and smartphones. And no internet? . . . No way! You’ve experienced social changes that will render the way things were in your earlier life “quaint” or “outrageous” or “ridiculous”. For instance, you may remember when mail took days (or weeks), not a split(Continued on page 13)

second, to arrive at its destination; when people of color were not allowed to live in a “white neighborhood”; when mothers stayed home and cooked and cleaned; when nobody had heard of “playdates”; when “four-letter words” were not commonplace, et cetera. You probably had adventures that will amaze those who didn’t know you back-in-the-day. How and where did you play as a child? What was it like being a teenager in your era? . . . a young adult? What challenges and/or risks did you take on in life? What accomplishments can you claim? Whether you’re certain your life’s stories will be a bestselling book, or you just want to pass them onto your family (current and future) and friends, they oughta be written.

is amazing, but not normal. Sadly, it often takes tragedy to unite younger people in this way. Lowering the voting age to sixteen further dilutes the electorate into popularity groups. We saw this in 2016, when the Bernie or else crowd (mostly younger millennial voters) perpetuated conspiracy theories about the election and decided to risk the future of our country because their guy didn’t get the nod. They either voted for Jill Stein or stayed home all together and literally gave us Trump. Cry Russian collusion all you want, but the main reason for Trump’s win was lack of voter turn-out. The Bernie Bros (some of whom actually voted for Trump) are now crying again that the system is rigged which, if history repeats itself, could mean four more years of rule by a fascist, racist, moronic dictator. Right now, we have a seventythree-year-old, egomaniacal infant in the White House. Lowering the voting age to sixteen may give us a new group of informed voters who care about the direction our nation is going. On the other hand, it may give us a group of uninformed, socially sadistic bullies who vote for another politician who lacks self-control and appeals to their sense of anarchy. Bullies who make fun of others because they don’t belong to the “in-crowd”. Bullies who troll online because they can hide behind their keyboard. Oh, wait, that’s Donald Trump. But I digress. Politicians who view the socially conscious teenagers as narcissistic, uninformed children, are really just repeating the same words from an ancient song “I’d like to help you son, but you’re too young to vote.” The problem is much wider than that though. Politicians are simply paid employees of their donors and not their constituents. Changing the voting age isn’t going to help that. Extricating the massive money and lobbying from the process will change the system. It is the only way to change the system.

who had the most to lose. Those who worked the hardest and had a vested interest would work harder to keep government from becoming the monster it is today. Working hard and becoming a property owner, then participating in the right to vote was like a graduation into the society of adulthood. It seemed to work well until the commies came to power. What have we denied the teens of America today? They have the freedom of safe sex, the freedom of tax funded abortion, the freedom of dumbed down education, the freedom of welfare, the freedom of pornography, opioids, alcohol, the freedom of misery, and when none of this works, what do they have? They can then look to heroes like Nancy Polosi, Alexander Cortez and Colin Capernick. What is there to worry about? A general delusion of principles, and manners will more surly overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of a common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued, but once they lose their virtue they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader. (Samuel Adams) So there you have it. In the march to socialism, allowing snot nose kids, uneducated in the schools of socialism, to vote, is just another feather in the M. A. M. A. cap, (Make America Miserable Always) of a socialist commie, anti-everything good lib. I’m James Kroshus, and I endorse this article.

the Democrats are only out for their votes. So sad but true! A friend of mine in Indiana had a pet raccoon named Ricky. One day (as raccoons are extremely curious), Ricky, while tied to the porch, noticed a shiny lure on a fishing pole nearby and was able to reach it. When my friend and I returned, yes, you get the picture…Ricky got hooked in his jaw! Unfortunately, a lesson that he learned too late! An example of exploiting children was in the news recently when a group of kids showed up at Representative Pelosi’s office and demanded action by her in support of the Green New Deal before the world came to a devastating end. They were brainwashed by adults to say these things by adults that were clearly brainwashed themselves! The Democrats have always relied on the black vote in elections to get them across the finish line successfully. However, things are starting to change for them. President Trump is successful in lowering the unemployment levels, not only for blacks, but also for women, Mexicans and Asians as well. Currently, we are at a record low of unemployment and the Democrats don’t like it! Blacks and others have “woke” up to this realization of being used and are switching their allegiance to the Republican Party. Democrats know this and are actively and desperately seeking for a new voting base for 2020 in children, felons and illegals. In conclusion, there are 11 leftleaning states (and D.C.) that allows illegals to obtain a driver’s license. With their government issued I.D.’s in hand, they can then register to vote, illegally. No other country in the world allows illegals the right to bear a legal driver’s license, so why do we?

iser are we when our intuition is simplified; thought processes hidden in our biological understandings are submerged beneath the emerald mist of our spiritual amplifications. We set a course of travel within our hearts uncovering purposes of our existence between both realms of life. Severed strings that once pulled our emotional vibrations cease to exist as the practices of prayer create eternal peace; a fine tune is heard through the sounds of the Stradivarius inside each lost soul wandering. Captivated by each moment we live, we share part of ourselves with our offspring while harnessing the bittersweet memories of happiness and struggles. Our burdens are lifted after the eyes awaken to the truth of everlasting, unconditional love given to us to pass on for generations to come. Learning each day is part of our development and growth even beyond the time of death. We give ourselves the abilities of sound mind and reason as our intellect melts with the visions and premonitions as if it were a prophecy fulfilled; bound by the threads of complete contentment found
