ears ago the list Initials of illnesses and conditions being added to the medical lexicon began to expand limitlessly. believe this? They are popular purely because of the rise in need for content. Content marketing trends in the digital and social media atmosphere are giving content creators a great opportunity, but they must be willing to think about the marketability and how brands could leverage their content in their marketing efforts. Some say this is “selling out” but the truth of the matter is, it pays the bills. (Continued from page 1)

1) Aaron, we share the same passion when it comes to Independent filmmakers and artists. When did you first start getting into the “Indie” scene? I have always been interested in the independent content scene for the pure fact that many of the projects are “passion projects” and have more heart than much of the mainstream content that gobbles up the limelight. The fact is, content is buried at an alarming rate, and if there is not a destination and promotion behind said content, it won’t get the appreciation it may deserve. I saw this trend, along with the opportunities in the over-the-top television world, as an opportunity to help highlight independent content. 2) Do you think independent films, web series, etc., are starting to become more popular? If so, why do you

3) I’m honored to have our short film “Two Go In…One Comes Out: A Socumentary” on e360tv. What made you create this platform and what are your plans for the channel in the future? The best line from Socumentary is “no comment”. Makes me laugh just answering this question. What spurred e360tv was the opportunity and expansion in the OTT space and the problem with independent content having a platform that could also leverage these trends. The plans are to continue to grow our library of content and build monetization to fulfill our goals. 4) Tell us about the programming. Any current or new programs you want to talk about? The content is not niche but does have a “method to (Continued on page 10)

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Book Review

have this idea for a movie. It concerns the difficulties a Tarantinoesque director experiences while trying to film yet another adaptation of Mary Shelley’s famous novel. The difficulties would arise from Mary Shelley herself, whose angry ghost wreaks enough havoc on the set to finally cancel the whole production. The title I have in mind is “The Last Frankenstein Flick”. To my knowledge, there are at least seventy film versions of Shelley’s early nineteenth century novel. They run the gamut from serious artistic endeavors to the lowest forms of exploitation. But one thing they all have in common is their tenuous connection with the book. Of course, the best way to correct this regrettable development is to bypass or forget the movies altogether and go to their great literary source. Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” begins with a series of letters written by a voyager to his sister in England. The voyager, while sailing toward the North Pole, observes in the distance a figure of enormous stature riding a sledge across a region of ice. The figure disappears from view, but the next day the voyager and his crew encounter someone else: a half-alive stranger who is taken on board the ship. The stranger’s name is Victor Frankenstein, and Chapter 1 begins the cautionary narration of his tragic life. Almost everyone has some familiarity with Frankenstein’s story. The classic mad scientist, he becomes obsessed with the idea of producing a new type of human being

derived from lifeless matter. ‘A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me.’ His herculean efforts finally succeed, ‘but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart’. The ‘new species’ he has created and unleashed on the world turns out to be a murderous monster. Everything in Shelley’s novel succeeds. Her main characters—including the monster—are all compelling or appealing at some level, and their motives are described with precision and deep insight. She vividly depicts the dangerous intoxication that stimulates efforts directed toward forbidden or exceptionally difficult goals. Also, descriptions of the natural world are rendered with poetic beauty. And then there are the larger prophetic implications—for example, Shelley’s novel has always made me think of Nietzsche and the Nazis. Though the great German philosopher would have loathed what the Nazis were and what they did, they were his creation and monster (at least to a significant degree). But “Frankenstein” is, above all else, a great horror/science fiction story and should be approached as such. Curl up with it on a comfortable couch in the quiet of the night to maximize its thrilling force; and don’t be overly concerned with the scholarly commentary that surrounds it, let alone the glut of films that have warped it. John Loranger was born in Butte, Montana in 1961 but has spent most of his life in Nevada. He served in the United States Navy from 1983 to 1987, then worked for the telephone company before retiring in 2011. He has always enjoyed reading fiction and has published two novels of his own: "The Odyssey of Art O'Hara" and "Lions and Souls: the Story of St. Mary of Egypt". His approach to fiction is best summed up by a quote from Walker Percy: "The first rule of thumb, of course, is pleasure. A good book gives the reader pleasure, the sort of deep, abiding pleasure he likes to come back to."

Leon and Hootch, two of the dogs, face a difficult challenge. With Hunter’s unusual talent of being able to “talk” to the animals, the story unfolds. We love the weird, the different, fresh perspectives, content that is just different from typical mainstream. Some of the most controversial content is about cannabis. One of the our most current releases was Clarity: A Medical Marijuana Documentary. This mini-doc looked at several dementia patients who were administered medical cannabis in a controlled environment to show the effects. It’s astounding and heartfelt what happens—giving the patients back moments of clarity that give the family members an opportunity to see the family members again for what they were, not for what the disease has taken away from them. 5) How can people get involved with e360tv? “Walk the Turtle”

Love Letter to You

ternal hearts caught within the winds of cool changes fly among the heavens and dance together inside the everlasting stars to the depths of love.

Signs of your certain presence transpire in moments of sorrows as the eyes of life look upon our souls, often gazed in wonder as time has slowed. In compassionate dreams your spirit has appeared to comfort the wounds of loss to my emptiness inside, thus mending the pain of a broken angel. Motions of timeless memories spin inside my mind as the whispers of your laughter makes me smile and cry, a caress once felt to the warmth of you. A departure into the unknown, without fear we all must go, a prayer upon the scars is left behind with remembering our lives and for who we are. Yesterday it was us holding hands, today I must accept my happiness has left me here to finish our purpose and to be guided by His almighty hand. Walk the turtle and shine your light, I will visit you in dreams each night. Our unconditional love will once again be an inspiration—my love letter to you, Brittany Danielle Withers .
