The Collection of Jacqueline Leeds

Lot 124-264

Every item in the Collection of Jacqueline Leeds is evidence of her interest in craft and design, with each item showing elegant and elaborate construction and pattern details, some of which reveal themselves only upon close and expert inspection. Her interest in contemporary expressions of fashion never faulted. Starting with iconic and revolutionary Space Age designs by Pierre Cardin and Andre Courrèges, she wore and collected haute couture designs by Christian Dior and Givenchy alongside some forty years of ready-to-wear Chanel.

As decades passed, Leeds style became more and more interested in contemporary expressions of fashion, embracing designers like John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, and Jean Paul Gaultier, known for reinvigorating high fashion with punk playfulness. Her wardrobe represents an array of key contributions by top designers at legacy brands: Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, Galliano at Dior, Tom Ford at Yves Saint Laurent. Ms. Leeds embodied a lifetime of style – she was elegant, expressive and bold.
