Deep sea mining will only get our planet into deep trouble A lot of companies and governments are planning to send giant machines to the bottom of the ocean to look for metals and rocks. It’s clear that deep sea mining would be very bad news for our oceans.
Very bad news for wildlife In the deep sea, we find underwater mountains that are homes for sea creatures. Mining in the deep ocean will cause total destruction of a lot of marine animal homes. Also, the Noise generated by those giant machines can harm marine animals like whales.
Extinction of creatures found nowhere else on the planet The animals in the deep se have adapted to live in the bottom of the ocean. Some of those animals can’t be found in other places in the ocean. Mining machines destroying the deep ocean habitats that these creatures are specifically designed to live there, will die and could never recover.
