An Interview with Dr Juanita Killian Motivation, Challenges and Committment

Dr Juanita Kilian, qualified as pharmacist at the University of North West, South Africa, thereafter she earned her Master's degree in derma-ceutical product development, and then achieved her Doctorate in Transdermal Delivery Technology at the University of London, School of Pharmacy.

Dr Juanita has engaged in the study of transdermal delivery systems and has made unique formulation discoveries, which had a profound influence on the development of the DrK Dermal Health Care range.

Throughout her career, Dr Juanita has worked extensively in South Africa, Africa, Scandinavia, UK, Europe, UAE and Russia in which during this time has been actively researching and re-educating herself in the latest skincare developments, microbiome research, derma-ceutical and mediceutical technology available.

What motivated Dr Junaita to specialize in dermatology and the development of DrK Dermal Health?

I have always had a passion for the skincare industry and not to only offer people a solution to the symptoms of whatever skin concerns they present with, I wanted to offer a solution to the cause of each individuals concerns, thereby treating the cause and the symptoms in a holistic approach, considering the brain, gut skin axis. Great skin starts in the gut.

Challenges:

Through education everything is possible, but it can take time. Our aim is to get our business partners and therapists to understand our concept of brain, gut, skin connection, our microbial systems and environmental triggers.
