What the Heart Wants a charming collection by Justyna Lorkowska
“The Heart wants what it wants - or else it does not care” - Emily Dickinson
As women we possess a wealth of talents and abilities, we assume an incalculable number of responsibilities some voluntary, some not – and we experience an indescribable range of emotions and moods. We’re capable of anything… as long as our hearts are in it. Some may call us fickle, others may see indecisiveness, but all the while we’re merely following our hearts. This collection has been created for all women who, like me, follow their hearts in everything they do. Happy knitting!
Fickle Heart a lovely cabled hoodie
Fickle Heart Often a change of heart means a change of clothes. Our moods lead us right into our closets in search of the appropriate outfit. Feeling sporty? A soft comfy hoodie is in order. Feeling sexy? We want to show off our curves with a body-hugging silhouette and lots of feminine details. With Fickle Heart both inclinations are satisfied in one button-front cardigan. Behind My Back a beautiful lacy pullover
Behind My Back Secrets are not always a bad thing. The wise woman discreetly guards her heart, carefully discerning when it’s safe to let someone in. Thus a sense of mystery surrounds her. One who appears plain and simple may be hiding a depth of beauty and substance which is revealed only to those worthy of her trust. Such is the case with this pullover. From the front it appears deceptively understated, but its true identity is hidden around back. Plain stockinette contrasts with leafy lace, yielding a garment that’s casual and sexy all at the same time.

Breaking the Waves a feminine open-front cardigan
Breaking the Waves Sometimes the heart yearns for a change. Not necessarily a drastic one, simply a break from routine, or a new adventure, or maybe just the freedom to act on a whim. With its unique construction coupled with its versatile style, Breaking the Waves embodies our heart’s desire for something different. Beginning with a simple top-down raglan construction, the pattern then literally changes direction, and the lacy fronts are worked sideways, providing a welcome break from the usual without being overly complicated. The finished cardigan can be worn wrapped or open, dressy or casual – numerous possibilities to suit your every mood.
Sizes XS (S, M)[L, XL, XXL]. To fit bust: 73 (83, 93)[103, 113, 122] cm / 29.25 (33.25, 37.25)[41.25, 45.25, 48.75] inches. The cardigan is designed to be worn with no ease across the back and with fronts overlapped or open. Sample shown in Size M on 93 cm / 37 bust.

Old Loves, New Flames a biased shawl with fringe
Old Loves, New Flames The heart is unique in its capacity to grow. It makes room for more love by expanding immeasurably, and does not necessarily require us to sacrifice an existing love for the sake of a new one. This is a wonderful phenomenon when it comes to family and friends, but can cause problems where lovers or vices are concerned! Here’s a shawl that illustrates this principle both in color and form: an old favorite colorway can be paired with your latest infatuation, while the easy, popular construction embraces a new and different shape. Don’t worry – there’s room in your heart for Old Love and New Flames!
Size one size: approx. 170 cm / 67” wide along at I-cord edge and 50 cm / 19.75” high.
Yarn 2 colors (1 skein each) of Malabrigo Sock (100% merino; 400m / 440y per 100g). Sample show in colorways: 37 Lettuce and 808 Violeta Africana.
Gauge 22 sts and 48 rows = 10 cm / 4” in Garter st worked flat. The gauge isn’t crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size as well as the required yardage.
