[ CHRISTIAN HIGHER EDUCATION IN TODAY’S WORLD ]
Imagine a world where the leading scholars, theologians, and technologists approached every new innovation with not only the question of
“CAN WE BUILD IT?” “SHOULD WE? but also
WE HAVE BEEN CALLED TO A UNIQUE ACADEMIC MINISTRY
CHRISTIAN HIGHER EDUCATION should be a beacon of world-changing solutions, fueled by hope and vision, achieved through the formation of character, competency, and Christ-like compassion.
As The Christian Polytechnic University, we understand that our world will continue to pose complex questions, offer technological solutions, and question theological mindsets.
IN LIGHT OF THIS CALLING, HERE’S OUR PROMISE
WE WILL CONTINUE to foster, deepen, and steward our commitment to an authentically Christian environment, where students grow in their faith and are prepared for life and work.
YOU WILL ENGAGE with high quality faculty who see their work as deeply integrated with their faith and who intentionally pour into our students both inside the classroom and out.
WE WILL PARTNER with you on your path to a flourishing life in a growing community, where you can leverage a high-quality education with a top-tier return on investment.
YOU WILL BE PREPARED with hands-on training from day one, engaging with uncommon learning experiences, no matter which academic discipline you pursue.
WE WILL CHALLENGE AND ENCOURAGE you to think critically about the role of technology in our modern world—the ways it intersects with our faith and shapes us as human beings—to nurture vocational competencies and pursue the Biblical design for human and societal flourishing.
YOU WILL JOIN in the Triune God’s mission for humanity by living, working, serving, and worshiping Him as a part of an educational community to prepare you for the enrichment and service of the local and global community as a LeTourneau graduate.
UNLESS THE LORD BUILDS THE HOUSE, ITS BUILDERS LABOR IN VAIN.
PSALM 127:1 (NIV)
Through the hard work and faithfulness of our founders and the commitment of many past institutional leaders, our unique organizational saga motivates us to learn from our history, and lean into our calling.
[ OUR ORGANIZATIONAL SAGA ]
OUR FOUNDERS: A LEGACY THAT CHANGED THE WORLD
RGLETOURNEAU was born in Vermont in 1888 and left school at an early age to pursue learning on his own. An inventing genius, LeTourneau founded his own company, LeTourneau Technologies, in 1929. Committed to faithfully following Christ, R.G. and Evelyn LeTourneau viewed their business as a partnership with God, and the company soon became the largest manufacturer of heavy earthmoving equipment and supplies in the world.
During his lifetime, LeTourneau secured nearly 300 engineering patents for his inventions, receiving 78 patents during WWII alone. He is credited with introducing heavy duty rubber tires to the earthmoving industry, as well as designing bulldozers, portable cranes, bridge spans, and offshore oil drilling platforms.

A LEGACY TIED TO THE FUTURE
Flying over the 156 acres of Harmon General Hospital in the mid-1940s, Evelyn “Mom” LeTourneau suggested that perhaps the decommissioned Army hospital could become the campus of a technical institute where her husband could educate a generation of men on
how to “make good” with their hands.
The vision came to life in 1946 as the first and only institution of its kind in America: a Christian polytechnic institution. Students learned the theories behind the mechanics, mastered the application of skills, and acquired spiritual grounding in order to flourish as citizens of the kingdom of God.
“Mom and Pop” LeTourneau stepped up to the needs of the world around them but only after stepping into who God called them to be. This legacy is evidence of God’s unwavering faithfulness. He began an exciting adventure story of heroic achievements in 1946 that continues to take shape today.
Rooters of all heavy earthmoving equipment used by the Allies during WWII was manufactured and designed by LeTourneau, Inc.
ON MISSION
LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY is a comprehensive institution of Christian higher education where educators engage learners to nurture Christian virtue, to develop competency and ingenuity in their professional fields, to integrate faith and work, and to serve the local and global community.
The core identity of our institution has always been technical, applied and Christian. Polytechnic learning blends theory and practice with an application to solve real-world problems for the benefit of society and emphasizes the significance of the interaction between the human and the technical.
OUR UNIQUE ORGANIZATIONAL SAGA: A WHITEPAPER
BY VIRTUE OF BEING DISTINCTIVELY CHRISTIAN , we help students not just create or apply the latest technologies but evaluate them critically in light of what is good for humanity and creation.
We prepare students to seek the ways modern innovations can foster health and wellbeing while also acknowledging that technological advancement can be used for good, to help others, and ultimately change the world. While working on the cutting edges of technological inventiveness, we also help students understand that innovation will not remedy spiritual brokenness and the sin of the human heart.
We prepare students to find jobs, but even more, we prepare people–not just professionals–to love God and neighbor.
“There is a particularly Christian coherence at LeTourneau University, secured to the story of the Gospel, that adds context and depth to our polytechnic education.”
STEVEN D. MASON, PH.D.

Pursuing a future in the natural or pre-professional sciences offers a unique opportunity to see both the micro and macro parts of God’s amazing creation, and all the places in between. Mathematics professionals understand that math is not just about numbers. It is a discipline which crosses cultural and geographic borders and a language connected to creation itself. Whether chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, kinesiology, or pre-health, your preparation here is built on research, real-world experiences, and deeply relevant relationships.
Couns ling NURSING HUMANI
Drawn to the world of healthcare? It may not be for the faint of heart, but fortunately, heart is exactly what our program is focused on: the heart for putting patients first, for reclaiming compassionate, Christ-like care in an industry desperately in need of revitalization. Students in our program are also developed to make thoughtful connections between their heart’s calling and the practical, day-to-day, skillful work of their hands in every lab, classroom, hospital, or clinic.
Our psychology & counseling programs are centered on Biblical truth and practical application. We prepare counseling professionals to enhance the quality of life for individuals, couples, families, and communities, by instilling Christ-like hope and peace. Our psych students dig into top tier research with industry-expert faculty in courses with a STEM-informed take on science & investigation. This integrative experience—combining transformative faith, academic excellence, and the restoration of deep human & societal need—starts from day one.
There is a distinct desire in humanity to understand more about “what God is up to” in the world and how we can directly partner in His work. Theology & vocation students and faculty are passionate about constructing the foundational elements of theology and application in a world that desperately needs to be built up rather than torn down. We develop “tech-wise” leaders and scholars who are well-equipped to approach conversations of faith, science, and technology and apply Biblical truth in their homes, churches, and workplaces.

[ A COMMUNITY OF BUILDERS ]
STIR UP ONE ANOTHER TO LOVE
Being made in God’s image includes being built for authentic relationships. Academic and real-world career preparation is incomplete without the integration of personal relationships between students, faculty and staff, community groups, and local church communities. Educational and industry-specific connections certainly can last your whole life, but true relationships extend beyond this life. The community you choose to surround yourself with can have eternal impact.
LIFELONG RELATIONSHIPS
THE ROLE OF THE PROFESSOR is crucial to the growth and development of a university student. LeTourneau’s close-knit community provides professors and students with unique opportunities to engage, both in the classroom and out of it. From group dinners in professors’ homes to oneon-one discipleship opportunities, attending church together, and more, the relationships built here will last a lifetime. In the classroom, our faculty foster discussion which leads to deeper conversations, allowing students to internalize information and build intimacy between professor and student.

WHO ARE WE? WHY ARE WE HERE? WHO DO WE BELONG TO?
FAITH IS AN INTEGRAL PART of LeTourneau’s foundation, and we don’t just talk about it. When we understand the answers to these questions in light of our Creator, it breeds life application. Our capacity for rich relationships deepens, and God’s action in our lives is illuminated.
From weekly chapels to 24-hour prayer nights and local service ministries, students have ample opportunities to fortify their relationship with God and commune with like-minded individuals.
LeTourneau Student Ministries provides multiple spring break outreach opportunities for students to go and spread the Gospel of Jesus with fellow students, faculty, and staff in different places around the world.
Students add roofing as part of a construction project for a church in Oaxaca, Mexico. Over 100 students participate in spring break mission trips each year.
SPIRITUAL FORMATION
Joining God’s Mission – Students will learn how their work and their academic discipline can foster gratitude, wonder, and delight as they participate in God’s life and mission for the world.

THE THRILL OF COMPETITION
OUR ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT strives to cultivate disciples and pursue excellence. Our coaches lead student athletes on and off the court, guiding them to encounter Christ in the context of their athletic pursuits. LETU participates in NCAA Divison III Athletics and is a proud member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (beginning Fall 2025). We believe that excellence in the classroom is just as important as excellence in the sport, and our staff are devoted to leading students to pursue eminence in both areas.
“Prior to coming to LeTourneau, my sport was my number one priority. I didn’t really see the bigger picture, but coming to LeTourneau changed my perspective. God became my priority and my sport became second, which impacted not only my performance but everything I do.”

“It wasn’t necessarily the projects themselves that determined whether or not I enjoyed my work. It was the people I was working with. The more our team grew together, the more meaningful the project became.”
HERE, STUDENTS INTERACT WITH FAMILIAR FACES, from freshman to senior year. The trust and bonds formed between peers and professors build upon one another, often culminating in capstone projects. Consistent engagements with classmates and professors every semester add the kind of value to the university experience that only a university like LeTourneau can provide. This is true, real-world collaboration and the discipleship of academic ministry: our students grow with professors, and professors grow with our students.

You don’t have to wait to make your mark. Your impact on the world is already beginning and has the potential to reach further than you can imagine. While rankings, recognitions, or other stats are certainly affirming and encouraging, we understand that a university’s TRUE impact is the direct result of the faithful work, intentional preparation, and forging of life-long relationships that all take place between students, faculty, staff and all other community members. Authentic impact, just like community, is meant to be shared.
