Hi! My name is Eugene, I am currently pursuing a degree in graphic design at Central Saint Martins and working as a freelance graphic designer for various organizations. In short, I'm a creative that sees the world through a tinted lens. I have a love hate affair with graphics. I didn't want to get into something which was played out and narrow. I wanted to do as I liked, inventing my own interests. I don't believe in stereotyping my styles, I have an obsessive curiosity with design techniques, and I familiarize myself to different techniques and different styles, mixing and matching styles to create the unorthadox. I am also a part of The Hive Studio, formed with an ecclectic group of designers involved with various disciplines of design, working with various international clients.

TOD’S NO CODE MOVING IMAGE
Along with Jai Bhatnagar and Jeremy Lin, we had the opportunity to create an art film with Italian fashion powerhouse Tod’s. We wanted to capture the essence of fine craftsmanship as well as the refinement of skill over many hours of practice that go into perfecting a skill. We chose the Brazilian martial art Capoeira as it displays elegance, finesse and dedication, the same characters we wanted to reflect of Tod’s. We worked with a talented group behind the scenes, with students from Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, Camberwell College of Art and performers from the London School of Capoeira. PAPEROLOGY INTERACTION & MOVING IMAGE
I grew up with a fascination for technology, be it computer games, coding or just simple flashing lights. I wanted to create an interactive platform for Super Mario fans to interact with each other through Mario himself. I decided to pay tribute to the video game, on its 17th anniversary, by constructing a large scale game, featuring one of the symbolic terrains. Through coding, people from around the world could then connect and control their own Mario character and move freely, with the same restrictions in the game. The twist? The entire terrain was created with post its. 3642 to be exact. The response was incredible. To view film: http://tinyurl.com/paperology
CLOUD 9 AIRWAYS BRANDING & IDENTITY A collaboration with Viola Mitter, Sophie Khoury and Rebecca Thomson. Our brief was to design the branding and identity for an airline that we were to create from scratch. Cloud 9 Airways was then born. Who says the holiday only starts when you get to the destination? We wanted our airline to focus on the little details that would make the flight a more comfortable and memorable experience. This is an airline that tailors to individual passengers. From the bespoke in-flight materials to the luggage tags to the mobile application, there is plenty for our passengers to choose from.
PS CAFE BRANDING & PACKAGING
In 2013, Singapore restaurant chain PS Cafe tasked me to brand and package their new line of fruit teas that were to be available for a limited period. PS Cafe is known for their thoughtfully detailed interiors and lush surroundings. I gathered inspiration from their New York loft styled interior and chose a minimalist transparent bottle that allowed the vibrant colours of the tea to be seen by all. I researched names for the tea that would not only appeal but also remembered. I wanted to incite feelings of love when customers viewed these products, and did so through the copy.
TOUGH MUDDER ILLUSTRATION, PRINT & WEB
Tough Mudder is an endurance event series with military-style obstacle courses. It tests the mental and physical strength of thousands of participants across 7 countries. I worked closely with Dale Croft of The Hive Studios on a variety of material for Tough Mudder, including course maps and signages as well as web banners. Recently, Tough Mudder announced that they were to start designs on a new obstacle course under an affiliated name. We were tasked to help with the planning and design of the new course, working closely with the headquarters in New York. We were also tasked with the branding and identity for this project.
THUMP CLOTHING ILLUSTRATION & WEB
The Hive Studios was asked to take a new budding clothing label to the next level. A team of three, Isabelle Andarakis (photographer), Dale Croft (illustrator/graphic designer) and I, were to design the Spring/Summer line for 2014, as well as create promotional material for both print and web.
VOLKSWAGEN ILLUSTRATION & ADVERTISING
I was tasked to design an illustrative full page advertisement for Volkswagen Singapore, with the aim of representing the experience driving their cars. A car is not simply a mode of transport, but an experience, and a good one it should be. With a younger target audience in mind, I felt the need to use imagery and colours that people saw everyday.
POSTERS, POSTERS & POSTERS ILLUSTRATION & PRINT
My love for design started as soon as I was able to hold a pen. I would draw for anyone who wanted it, and enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the opportunity to work with a number of clients from across the globe, allowing my illustrations to be a medium in which their messages were conveyed. FILTER FEATURING THE CATARACS PRINT & WEB
Filter Members Club is an intimate night club experience in Singapore, with access limited to the invited. American hip hop/electronic music maestros The Cataracs were flying in to play an exclusive one night only set. I was tasked to create promotional material for night through posters and electronic advertisements.
BELOW THE SURFACE INTERACTIVE & INSTALLATION
We were asked to select a message we wanted to deliver based on an issue we felt strongly about, and then deliver it with a ‘supergraphic’. With all the ruckus over governments hiding important facts and information to the public, there was a pressing need for a source for this information. I created an independent whistle-blower website to provide the public with information, but still needed an eye catching method of advertising it. I used the metaphor ‘not everything is what it seems’ as inspiration and called the campaign Below The Surface. I then constructed a set of staircase railings out of cardboard, set a QR code within the copy, for quick access to the site, and placed it in location that experienced heavy foot traffic.
