Let’s meet Eddy Elephant! Listen

Here’s Eddy Elephant. He’s enjoying eating a boiled egg for his mid-morning snack at eleven o’clock. He thinks eggs are the best! They give him lots of energy when he is exercising, or doing his Elephant-on-End trick! Eddy Elephant says ‘e’ in words like ‘egg’, ‘envelope’ and ‘elbow’.

Eddy Elephant was looking a bit fed up. “What’s the problem?” asked Peter Puppy. “I want a pet,” said Eddy. “Everybody else has a pet. Golden Girl has got a goat, Harry Hat Man has some hens and a horse, Talking Tess has a tortoise, Kicking King has kittens, even little Impy Ink has a stick insect. Everyone has a pet, except me!”

“It’s not a problem. I don’t have a pet either, but I just pretend!” said Peter Puppy. “Pretend? How can you have a pretend pet?” asked Eddy. “Well, I use a pebble. I draw a face on it with my pen. I pat it, pretend to feed it and put it to bed in my pocket. Some days, when I’m playing by the pond I make piles of pet pebbles! Pretend pets are perfect pals,” said Peter. “That is an excellent idea,” said Eddy.

But Eddy Elephant enjoyed eating eggs so much that he had lots of empty egg shells. So he set o making more pets. He made Ben and Je, Jess and Bess! He made Meg with peg legs and Ned who was a red head! In fact, Eddy became an expert at making egg heads.
