FINANCIAL INFORMATION Being a member of a sorority is a commitment to membership, which includes the payment of chapter dues. These organizations rely on the payments of members to provide everyone with the best possible college experience. It is important for students and their families to be aware of all financial obligations for sorority life prior to accepting full membership. Each chapter handles their own members independently through different methods. Many houses offer members the option to pay in one lump sum amount at the beginning of each semester, but many also offer installment plans to accommodate members who wish to pay throughout the semester.
TIP! It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes each day of recruitment. You are welcome to transition shoes between events for travel. Also, you will receive a tote bag upon check-in to use throughout the week.
OUT OF HOUSE- All expenses paid for members living out of the chapter facility IN HOUSE- All expenses paid by a member when living in the chapter facility ONE TIME FEES- Fees paid by new members once during membership
Semester dues may include but are not limited to Panhellenic dues, social fees, membership education fees, parlor fees, and national/chapter dues. Charges for the first semester are typically greater to cover the cost of one time national dues, a badge/pin, as well as the new member education program. For further explanation of the financial obligations of becoming a member of a sorority at Iowa State, please reach out to specific individual chapters for further breakdown of expenses.
RHO GAMM A I NFORMAT I ON Recruitment Counselors (also known as Rho Gammas) hold a leadership position within the Collegiate Panhellenic Council to positively promote sorority life to potential new members before, during and after the primary recruitment period. Recruitment counselors work together to speak about all of the wonderful benefits of sorority membership to women interested in joining a sorority. They strive to increase interest and participation during recruitment. Recruitment counselors are sorority women, but remain impartial, meaning they are not focused on and are not directly affiliated with their specific chapters for a time frame that is identified within the Collegiate Panhellenic Council. Here are some topics that recruitment counselors discuss with potential new members: • Academic support and achievement • Responsibilities within the fraternity/sorority community and chapter organization • Philanthropic and community service activities • Leadership opportunities • Lifelong friendships • Value of membership beyond college years As a potential new member, you should get to know your recruitment counselor and feel comfortable going to her with any questions you may have about recruitment or sorority life. During recruitment, the recruitment counselor is your best friend!

I have lived in the Midwest my whole life and currently reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I spend most of my time playing with my dog. When entering college, I knew very little about Greek life and was just hoping to find a place to call home. Kappa Kappa Gamma has provided that home and so much more. Being a Kappa has allowed me to grow as a leader since day one of my college experience. As Chapter President I oversee the overall operation of the Delta Omicron chapter. I preside over all meetings of the chapter and communicate expectations of officers and individual members. I serve as a liaison to the Fraternity, the campus, and the public. Most importantly, I serve as a role model to the chapter by representing the values of our chapter to others on campus and in the community.

Philanthropy _ Read. Lead. Achieve. Promotes childhood literacy. Message from 2016/17’ President _ I initially chose to go Greek to help push myself out of my comfort zone and make friends in college. Little did I know what the Greek community had in store for me. I figured I would decide not to join a chapter in the end because it was “too cheesy”. However, the day I got my bid was one of my most favorite memories of college. I love the idea of being a part of an organization that stands for integrity, personal and intellectual growth and philanthropic service to others among many other great values. Some of the most outstanding people I have met in college have been in the Greek community. It has been a surprise to me how much passion and comfort I have found in Pi Beta Phi as well as the Greek Community as a whole. No matter what chapter you are in, ISU is a great place to be Greek!
